How's the volume on the amp? My band is shopping around for bass gear and this is a good option, but we just want to know how the volume is. Also, would it be good for heavier genres? Like hardcore/metalcore?
@IDIA45 My recommendation is get this head if you want, but buy two carvin 4 ohm 2x10s. This way you can easily lug your rig around by yourself, and at 2 ohms it will have plenty of volume. Even if you buy the 8x10 that comes with it, like I have here, it is still enough volume to be heard down the street. Literally I did an outdoor gig once and during my sound check I cranked it and I had friends call me from a block away telling me it sounded good :D
@breakkfastman1573 Ummmm. It rocks the overdrive, like 70s ampeg gain. But it's really middy, which is good if you are doing classic rock but not if you are doing super high gain stuff. The pickup is not next to the bridge, meaning that it won't be quite as sharp or harmonic-y, but if you just want to add a little bit of grit yeah it sounds good.
You won't get the full 600 unless you're load is at 2 ohms. I run mine through a 4 ohm 2x15 Mesa Boogie and a 4 ohm Carvin 2x10. All the headroom you could ask for.
@RedElephantStampede Yeah but the cab they supplied is 4 ohms. My future final set up is the peavey mark viii xp with two carvin 2x10s. 2 ohms, 600 watts, 500 dollars total.
These amps have a killer sound with the treble turned up. I use a tech 21 sansamp and a boss compressor and this amp kills. I can get a great chili pepper/tool/ tone with my fender jazz basses. I recently had some problems with the head (it happens from time to time) and shipped it back. I got a replacement head until my acoustic comes back and I truly miss my acoustic tone.
@enahcs Yeah I ended up sellin this because I went through a "tube tone" phase, but the mesa kept actin up and the tone wasn't as good as the acoustic anyways. Lesson learned. I still felt betrayed by the acoustic though because the wattage is around 450, not 600, so I now have a Peavey 700 watt tour head that I look forward to demoing in about a month
@rhcpbassmaniac no, thank you for helpin me with this. acoustic has an "acousticusa" brand that is different from their "acoustic" brand. The acousticusa brand is solely reissues of their classic acoustic 360 head that made them famous with John Paul Jones and Jaco Pastorious. This is the head that Flea uses. The head I am using is the cheaper model made in asia, however it is still of very high quality
@cursedswordsman Well like i specified I'm not a huge fan of the treble, which is why for most of this demo the highest treble knob was off and the treble on my bass was low. there are plenty of demos out there I bet of the treble being played
@breakkfastman1573 I got it at guitar center for around 1200ish I think. I have bought all my other basses used, but the musicman is a bass that you will want to call your own, it is totally worth buying new. Also, don't buy it at guitar center in a color that isn't the best. Look up all the available colors and go to the store and say I want a musicman, talk em down (because they can drop the price by about 200 if you push) and then say but I want this color and they'll order it
@breakkfastman1573 it is worth every stinkin penny. It is so nice. I can't begin to describe how much I love it. It is the only bass on the market where an active three band EQ onboard comes stock. It can handle any tuning you want, every tone sounds good, it gets literally any tone. There is so much I could say but save up and get one. If you want to splurge get the one with a position switch, that'll give you even more tones!
@themanonthebass I have the 1X15 combo and sometimes put guitar through it and it sounds fine. Would a guitar and pedal sound fine through this stack?
@itsalex320 Yea its a solid amp. I love it. I'm not a fan of ampeg. Sure they were great back in the day, but with markbass, peavey, and orange, ampeg has a lot of worthwhile competition : )
I love mine got the B600h and two B410 cabs play a 5 string through it, but turn my horns off , this thing will shake my whole house if I want ,but hardly get it that loud (unless the guitar player wants to drowned me out lol)
Pretty good amp, but if you want the best check out the New 360 -remake of the classic 360; twice the power of the original; state of the art electronics, kick ass driver; 18' (or 15' for the mini, not the 260 being sold, it’s slightly smaller full power 360 called the 360 Mini); all the class of the classic 360 - "We at Acoustic USA are proud to announce we have received approval from Guitar Center to move forward selling the New 360/361 as well as the 360/361 mini 724-589-5440 EST 8:30-12.
Im about to get the same stack and everyone that I've talked to said that it can hang with the peavy's and ampeg stacks, Exactly what I needed to see before I go out and spend the money on it. Thanks man.
if my first question proves correct, then i'll be set, and it would be financially feasible. on another note, this was and IS the most helpful review on this amp stack in my opinion. i love led zeppelin, and of course, JPJ is GOD. but i want to get this now more then ever thanks to your help!
ok so ive got few questions. if i buy the 4x10 cab and then add on the 1x15 later on, would that be the equivalent to the cab you have, speaking in terms of volume/power? they would both be 410's. and with the b200h b410 combo alone, would that be loud enough for larger venues? say half the size of a football field, but indoors. financially im just barely scraping by, but i really need something loud enough to be heard over drums and a 120w Crate amp
@jeffgnr yea if you want the volume Line 6 makes a lowdown 750 watt head for the same price. But I don't know how the tone is. I feel like the acoustic gives you the sound of your bass, which is really rare in a cheaper amp, so I like that.
@jeffgnr DONT BUY LINE 6!!!! At higher volumes they sound terrible! Buy an acoustic 4x10 and 1x15 or this 8x10. And if it sounds too quite during a soundcheck just mic it bro.
I had this stack. Also used it with a 4x10 and a 1x15. I think I liked it with the 8x10 more, buuuuut would want a more powerful head. This was a lot of fun and good for the money but didn't cut it for me as far as volume.
@iamthelazerviking Wow, you must play in a really really loud band. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you could've mic'ed it or just go direct out. Just out of curiosity, what did you wind up replacing it with?
Loud is good in drone/doom/sludge types of music. No need for mic'ed or anything else. Due to being broke I have nothing. But I plan to get a Sunn 300T someday. Or maybe a couple other tube heads.
@iamthelazerviking Ah ok, that makes sense. Yea, I've played some Sunn amps and they seem pretty awesome. I know you are on a budget, but have you looked at any SWR heads? You can find them at a somewhat sane price on ebay.
@themanonthebass Good review my Bass Bruddah. Very straight forward. Most important, the fact you stressed was the quality is good and the price is awesome. The New kids on the bass block should be happy with the good info. Rock on!!
@MarshmallowCreep Awesome! I've since learned how to wield the frequency knob, by dialing in the bass and treble I want, I can use the frequency to get that midtone craziness that I want. I'm glad it helped!
@themanonthebass hey i just got the b200 also but with the b115 250w cab. i was wondering should i sell the cab and get a bigger one fore more sound or is there a way to adjust it for more sound?
@AnIfestation I have the b600. The cab won't do anything. The head is where the power comes from. The cab has to handle the power. You can't adjust it, no. To get more power you need a bigger head, and if you get a bigger head you need another cab. You can run them together, but either way you are still getting a head and a cab.
@outtasite524 I'm not a cab expert, but this thing can handle 800 watts with ease, it takes two people to transport but it's not that heavy considering the size, and the handles make it easy. thanks about the poster.
would you suggest acoustic stacks for metal? i know this is a silly question but ampeg and all them are to expensive and i need a cheap stack for shows.
@deadmemory401 I know three people including myself that use acoustic amps, and all of us are in metal bands. It works great for metal. I use any of my basses with it for metal, one friend uses his ibanez with it, another friend has a shecter and a dean he uses with it. Works awesome with five strings too. So yes, totally metal.
hey. you seem like a dude who really knows what hes doing, so maybe you can help me out. im looking at the Acoustic B200 head vs. the GK Backline 600. i dont know which way to go. im also unsure of the cabinet to get. you play a lot of nice basses through your Acoustic rig, so what is your opinion? thanks
@caden000 Great question, because I was in the same boat. Some people dig gk, I don't, I think it sounds way to trebly and artificial. The acoustic gives me that warm rich tone I want. I was at guitar center yesterday, and I heard THE SICKEST slaptone ever. Looked at the gal who was playing it, followed the cord, to the acoustic amp on this vid. So its UBER versatile, I love it, the acoustic won't disappoint. The gk might.
@bassbymichele I'm not entirely sure. I would assume so! I mean, shipping would be through the roof because the shipping weight is around 150 pounds, but I think your best bet is to find some international music sites, and see where they ship. Or contact a local music store and see if they could ship it in for you. But this brand isn't rare, or expensive.
I appreciate your response. By the way, you seem like a cool guy. I have a completely different bass style than yourself but I like yours. I am 18 and you look about that age. Keep on rocking the bass.
Thank you. Yes, I stopped taking lessons and started playing around on my bass by myself, and this is the style that I most enjoy, that I feel is most personal. It is very different that is true. I'm glad you enjoy it, you liking it means a lot to me.
i apreciate your response. Definetely thinking of picking one of these up. Oh, by the way, when i said pinchy tones, i just meant sorta like, muted tones if that makes sense. quick and low. By the way, i live in Canada, and do you think i could order one of these and get it shipped up here? Im just going to blast a few questions at you here lol.
O yes, it nails pinchy tones. I would assume you could, if you ordered in on amazon or some international site. Got mine at guitar center. It is heavy yes, but easily transported by two people, and rolls great. The handles make it easy. Playing live, the only bummer is having to turn down because it is so powerful. It is solid state. If you wanna go tube it will cost more, but peaveys, ampegs, and mesas are the good bass tube amps
Playing live it is really smooth bassy, so I find I have to add a little bit of upper midtone to the sound, which is not a problem at all. It actually is good that you have to add treble rather than take it away. And the 6 band eq is perfect, it completely alters the tone in a good way
thanks for the review. im thinking of buying a larger scale amp sometime within the next year. I play in a rock/reggae band and i really am looking for an amp to give me the lower smoothy and "pinchy-er" tones. I was just wondering if your amp could give those aswell. And also, did you say you got the intire set-up for $1200? Thanks again.
lower smoothy, definitely beautiful with this amp. Don't know what you mean by pinchyer. Please explain. But this amp always amazes me with its versatility. And I got it for 1000. Wait till guitar center has a ten-fifteen percent off sale, because 1000 is list price. You could get it for 900 if you timed it right. Thanks for watching.
It is just under 4 feet. And the tape measure nicked my finger as it went back in, creating a painful blood thing under the skin of my strumming pointer finger. Just so you appreciate the measurement more : )
lol wana hear sumthin funny for chirstmas im geettn the big muff and and acoustic amp im gettn the b100 though something good for a small gig do not look at my videos i suck lol
Dude! thank you some much for uploading this! haha, and its a good review too! haha plus you play the bass(musicman) i own so it gives me a good idea of the sound. So awesome bro! thanks!
man u just made my day. Thank you. I'm running out of things to review! lol. Altogether I got a deal at guitar center for 1000. uber cheap for such a killer rig. so worth it. There is nothing better for that price. any questions about it?
WOW! great deal for this rig. i hope that deal comes to my local GC in the future. but i do have a question. maybe u already answered this lol but does it have wheels on the back?
How's the volume on the amp? My band is shopping around for bass gear and this is a good option, but we just want to know how the volume is. Also, would it be good for heavier genres? Like hardcore/metalcore?

i apreciate your response.
Where did you pick yours up from?
How heavy is it apx?
How is it playing live with a band?
Tube amp?
Thanks again!

Even if you get a tube head, this stack is great and affordable.

Whats its the height of the 810? I cant find the specs on the web?
niel80 2 years ago
It is just under 4 feet. And the tape measure nicked my finger as it went back in, creating a painful blood thing under the skin of my strumming pointer finger. Just so you appreciate the measurement more : )
themanonthebass 2 years ago
Thanx a lot.... that helped... becaus my place its a little too small but its a good measure :) and sorry for your fingers
niel80 2 years ago
that looks pretty small for an 8x10. must be easy to transport compared to most of the bigger ones.
baronofbefoulment 2 years ago
Yes two people can easily move it.
themanonthebass 2 years ago
it looks like even 1 person would have little trouble moving it.
baronofbefoulment 2 years ago
One person can easily move it, as long as they don't have to go up steps or get it into a car. Easy to roll, but it still takes two people to lift

Very good review, except for the frequency knob. This is a notch filter which means it cuts a very narrow band on a given frequency. From the manual:
"Active -10 dB notch at frequencies from 50Hz to 1kHz approximately 250Hz with the frequency knob at 12 oclock."

BassDude50000 2 years ago
man u just made my day. Thank you. I'm running out of things to review! lol. Altogether I got a deal at guitar center for 1000. uber cheap for such a killer rig. so worth it. There is nothing better for that price. any questions about it?
themanonthebass 2 years ago
WOW! great deal for this rig. i hope that deal comes to my local GC in the future. but i do have a question. maybe u already answered this lol but does it have wheels on the back?
BassDude50000 2 years ago
Yep! And recessed handles on the top and bottom, so you can roll or carry it. As portable as an 8x10 could be
