  • Nice job no wonder they tell you to lie down if caught in between two moving trains

  • sd70m-2? Are the non isolated cabs real noisey?

  • @guilford681 Very.

  • @GEES44DC Are the isolated ones a lot better?

  • @guilford681 Very much so. The isolated ones are much more quiet and don't rattle and vibrate nearly as much.

  • @GEES44DC Thanks for the info. Love your videos

  • And you won't until your side of the cab gets cleaned off...

  • @MikeyP15181518 It's been 6 years since I hired on and I have never seen one person do that. I think you're just a little freaked out over nothing.

  • Is it normal operation to lay off the throttle when approaching an oncoming train?

  • @BArailsystem No. We were doing track speed so when the engineer throttled off it was to avoid going over the speed limit.

  • Great landscape! Thanks for sharing!

  • @GEES44DC i will learn about this next year... This and everything it needs to be sit on the left side of a train engine! :)

  • @R1Wagon - here's a lesson. When you're meeting another train at track speed and the adjacent track is out your window, get up and walk to the other side of the cab instead of videotaping it... Because that centerbeam flat with a shifted load of lumber isn't going to let you see retirement that easy.

  • @MikeyP15181518 Ok, i understand your point... but why is this comment is for me? I never been inside a train cab yet!

  • @MikeyP15181518 No one does that.

  • No headlights?

  • @R1Wagon Did you read any of the comments?

  • @GEES44DC Honnestly no! But i made it, and i didnt know that it was allow to shut them off when you were meeting another train...

  • @R1Wagon The regulations are not as strict in Canada as they are in the U.S.A.

  • Were you in an SD70M-2 in this video? Sounds like something else, unless this one's K5LLA was replaced with a K3...

Great video though. I want to work for CN or CP some day.

  • @zozey1231 I was.

  • was Audrey your hoghead..............

  • @cn854 No.

  • Is this one of the SD70M-2's with an Isolated cab?

  • @SkyhawkACE123 Yep.

  • @GEES44DC They a nice ride?

  • @SkyhawkACE123 Pretty good. Newest Gevo's are by far the best tho.

  • @GEES44DC Ahh i cant stand them. As far as I can say in happy that the CN line by me is EMD dominate by FAR. Went to the tracks the other day, 3 trains all with SD70M-2's and SD75I's. Are the SD75I's and SD70I's better than the newest M-2's as far as Isolated cabs go? Ive always wondered...

  • @SkyhawkACE123 I would say yes. The M-2's vibrate more and have a lot more squeaking under the cab where the body attatches to the trucks.

  • @GEES44DC Do you think you could upload a video of being in a non isolated cab SD70M-2 some time? Id like to see how bad they are

  • Very cool video! CN is my favorite railroad, but unfortunately only rarely see any CN power here in Southern California. Thanks for the cab ride.

  • you think they could have made the lines closer together or farther?? what are they thinking

  • That is too close for comfort!

  • cool video, and yes, i can hear him blowing for the first crossing. The only reason its louder on the second crossing, is because the sound is reflecting off the passing train. Im an engineer and those cabs, are super quiet inside.... almost too quiet.

  • seriously he never had his lights on...thats bad.

  • @DieselSmoke92 Here in Canada we are allowed to turn our lights off when meeting another train unless we are coming up to a crossing. You can hear my engineer click his down to dim as soon as he gets over the crossing and then to off as the meet is coming up. After that train's head end goes by you can hear the click for them going back to full power.

  • @GEES44DC I live in Canada, AB and railfan CN and i never even knew that lol.

  • @GEES44DC Really nice video, here on Estrada de Ferro Carajás we do the same, we put the headlight to dim position. Really nice video, please keep more coming, cab rides are always awesome!

  • I know all about Yorkton. I have taken trains through there many times. Our rules state that we are allowed to dim our healights for cars that are on roads beside us as long is we are not approaching a public crossing. The reason you hear the horn at the second one is because of the other train right beside us. The sound bounced off it and put it right back on us. It's pretty hard to hear the horn from inside the cab on some of the newer engines when the windows are closed.

  • busted didn't blow the crossing...lol

  • @MysticKnight38 He certainly did blow it.

  • @GEES44DC not at 22 seconds he didn't

  • @MysticKnight38 It's an isolated cab, the windows are closed and it's a handheld camera. I would not put this video up here if the engineer did not blow the horn.

  • @GEES44DC I'm no CN cop.... and I more or less meant it as a joke. Truth be told the hoghead not blowing at that crossing just shows he showing a lil compassion for the residents in that house. Hell. CP does blow all the crossing in town at night in Yorkton. The same goes for when the turn the ditch lights of when meeting cars along a road. That is a no no to, but I don't think anyone is going to bitch about it. BTW you can hear the horn at the next one during the meet...just saying.

  • is the cab that quiet or is the sound no on or somthing?

  • @coolwhiteguy1 It's one of the units with the Isolated cab. It is that quiet.

  • AWESOME CATCH

  • EMD rules! Lucky you got to be in an SD70M-2

  • Great video! :)

  • Apparently CN doesn't care if you post this stuff up? We don't want you getting fired or anything.

  • @AMTK510 Oh they care.

  • Amazing.

  • Awesome footage, must be quite the rush

  • Don't worry! CN will paint them to make them brand new all over again!

  • Oh noes!! Thundercab!!

  • @enr3870 I don't remember if our unit had the isolated cab, but the one we met did.

  • @GEES44DC the 8000's and 8800-49 should all be scrapped. We've got 2.2% grades, I have to work the damn things wide open for most of the trip, and I always end up with a massive headache at the end of the trip.

  • @enr3870 I find even with ear plugs, that deep sound still rattles my head.

  • @GEES44DC oh, absolutely. And the vibration in run 4 is horrible, I'll leave it in run 3 or go to 5 just to avoid that vibration.

  • @enr3870 I know, I try to avoid 4 as much as possible too.

  • @enr3870 Sounds like fun to me lol

  • what subdivision is this

  • @VanBilly1 Right around mile 24 of the Rviers Sub.

  • Nice video.

  • Great video i have always wanted to see some video of meets on the Rivers Sub or any videos on Rivers Sub from the cab. What was your train number that day and unit number? and what was train number of train you meet? I usually in the summer when it's nice out go out by CN Moffat Siding or Out to Miniota and take pictures from the over passes there. I might get around to posting some video i have to soon. Looking forward to more video from you.

  • Whooosh!!! Great video.

  • Great 3 videos of being in the Snow there GEE S44DC.

Gives us sweltering in the heat here in Australia an appreciation of the cold you fellas have to deal with in your Winters.

Keep them coming - the videos are impressive insights

    Mike

  • Great Video !!!!

  • Great meet between the 2 trains. I could faintly hear the horn for the first crossing. I'm guessing it was because you were beside the other train that you could hear the horn better for the second crossing.

  • Interesting winter meeting!

  • You had a W Sign, why no horn? It was not silent.

  • @K5HLR212 The horn was blown for both crossings. With how horribly loud these non isolated cab M-2's are inside the cab, with the windows closed, the horn is very faint. The camera didn't pick it up.

  • what RR U on

  • @usafisasome I think it's safe to assume CN.

  • do you ever drive trains on the bala sub?

  • @DNacIV I work out of Winnipeg so that sub is quite a ways away from me. Short answer ... nope!

  • awesome

  • amazing

  • Great vid
