    Um...the blending of cultures means that elements from each culture will be shared with both. It's natural. And it's not your musical culture so you can't dictate how it changes. For all we know this could be (and it does sound like) a purely "Western" composition performed on a Dan Bau. Or it could be composed by an "oriental" composer. In that case, does it become any less "oriental?" And it doesn't cheapen it any more than using, say, cymbals (a Turkish instrument) in Western music.
