  • I have the 119, and the blade takes a scary edge..

  • coco bolo is another handle type.

  • Thanks for wasting 10 minutes of my life. Maybe instead of doing reviews of technical tools, you should review mouse pads or apply for a job at Walmart.

  • @theONLYmrFRESH You clicked a video whose title is "Buck 119 Special Review." And now that you've seen him review the blade, you're irate?

    Are you also literally retarded?

  • If you pause right at 8:25 - 8:26 you see the pentagon on the american flag

  • Hey Andrew, do you have a review on the legendary buck 110?

  • @futurokazekage23

    I don't own one.

  • Nice review mate, Im with you. Les Stroud is the real deal, cos at the end of a seven day stay in the wilderness he looks like shit! Unlike the freshly shaven clean clothed Bear...... Oh, 6" blade for skinning Deer? Much prefer a nice 4" blade myself. I see the Buck 119 as more of a wilderness, survival, wood processor than a skinner. But hey, if thats all your carrying, go for it!

    Cheers mate.

  • I am getting one if these for my birthday, but the handle is smooth bone

  • Very informative, thank you! Got mine today, can't wait to use it. I know it's a hunting knife, and although I'm no hunter, I thought "hell, if it's good enough for Les, it's definitely good enough for me!"

PS: I have a ton of other knives, but this one just gives me a good feeling in general.

  • sucks yours came with a nylon sheath

  • Is the Buck 119 Spec. Full tang?

  • @shawny142 No, but the tang is insanely strong. :)

  • @shawny142 it has 3/4 tang

  • there is a version with cocobolo wood or what ever but that one isnt it

  • uh oh here comes ghostface!

  • cocobolo is a type of hard wood and the 119 comes in a hardwood cocobolo handle or the phenolic (plastic) handle

  • i got mie today and the sheath is leather

  • Haha, I got mine at walmart and saved up for it for quite awhile. I brought it home and just realized how big it was. I was expecting like a 3-4 inch blade. Haha, nope.

  • comes in coco bola and phenolic. cocobola is more expensive ( round $70)

  • hey i was wondering what the arrow means next to the 119 your is pointing up but mine is pointing away to the right what does that mean

  • u should get the leather sheath its really nice.

  • Ahahha in buckle and pull it out fast ..that's what she said

  • hmm i got my 119 a few years ago maybe 5 and it came with a hefty leather sheath

  • it sucks that they are making a lot of knives overseas now

  • Your cooler than nutnfancy and roadside imports dude. just sayin.

  • can't carry a fixed blade concealed unless its concealed in a backpack...? BTW, think this review sucks.... You know you're a piece of shit redneck when your mother or anyone for that matter, gives you a fucking NRA mouse pad for xmas...

  • fixed blades are totally legal to carry in california under 2 conditions. 1. you cannot carry a fixed blade concealed. 2. it cannot be carried openly in public places such as m,alls or stores. (but inside a backpack is ok)

  • lol ohhh lemme open up a box

  • i got one and at the same place and i love it. you should move to Kentucky i walk down my neighborhood with it strap to my hip and cops dont say shit.

  • Aren't all Buck Knives made in the USA? Also, do you know if there's a kydex sheath for this?

  • @littleguy257

No, quite a few are made overseas.

Not that I'm aware of though I'm sure someone could custom make one.

  • @littleguy257 no but you can get a leather on amazon

  • hey wat does ATF stand for

  • @TheUV123

    They're my initials.

  • @ATF6281914

no like real life stuff cuz when i was watchin ur vids i heard a guy on tv and he said somthing about ATF

  • Did you know that the Buck 119 knife is the knife that the ghost face killer Scream uses in the movie Scream? thats why i want one of these knives and i'm gonna add it too my scream collection.

  • i saw a mini buck 119 at scheels for 24.99 it was cool

  • Anyone know were I can buy one of these with the nylon sheath? Walmart in Canada doesn't seem to carry them. Thanks

  • I Love that knife Because I like the style of it. I think the Black Phanolic Handle and the Crome Butt and the Guard make the knife looks beautiful. I own both of these knives I have one used. And one brand new for my knife collection.

  • Interesting Note: This was the knife used in the film "SCREAM".

  • MADE IN USA..........THATS ALL THAT MATTERS....MINE HAD A LEATHER SHEATH THOUGH

  • i got mine at GI. Joes no more Joes tho :(

  • nothing better than someone giving a review on something he knows nothing about...I'll give him points for honesty though eh?

  • Me and Les, i own a 119 and a wave too haha

  • just a word of caution, bear grylls will often promote incorrect survival tips that are actually very dangerous. les is definitely better. but even better than him is ray mears. you should check him out on youtube, he truly is the original survivor man. good video though.

  • @superchung123 bear grylls isnt really about survival though, its more about how to find civilisation. whereas les stroud sits in one spot for 5 days then walks 5 miles to a highway. I prefer watching bear grylls just because he shows how to do things if you have no other way.

  • Bear Grylls uses a 700$ custom made knife

  • just got this knife. IT IS ONE OF THE BEST KNIVES PERIOD!

  • i got a leather sheath one, it's great

  • WALLIE WORLD FTW!

  • buck dont fail

  • I just got mine yesterday.

  • Comment removed

  • ooh you forgot to say that this knife it's on the movie scream too, very important classic movie.

  • this knife is the smaller version of the 1 that was on scream. the one that was on scream is called the buck 120 general.

  • they used the 119 and the 120 in scream 2, just check the part when the killer comes out of the bathroom in the premiere of the movie stab.

  • @20tom09gt lol yea then he throws the 119 at the guy and the handle cap knocks him out xD

  • omg i know hu but the ones they use in scream the blade is way bigger

  • @giankieluna lol yea then he throws the 119 at the guy and the handle cap knocks him out xD

  • you all say wal mart, but when i look online i do not see the knife... i guess i'll have to check in the local store... i hate crowds...

  • wow 1-1000..i watched this video with my 119 in my hand.....

  • Cool beans!

    ATF

  • how much?

  • If memory serves me correct, $40 at Wal*Mart.

    ATF

  • @bthies2012 it depends, if you get the one with the leather case, it will run you 15-20$ extra

  • phenolic is a shock and weather proof high quality plastic. Buck does make the 119 with cocobolo (which is a type of wood). The cocobolo one however, are more expensive and have brass pomel and handguard instead of nickel.

  • which one the more popular among the knife collector, the phenolic handle or the cocobola one...

  • cocobola

  • the killer in scream used the same knife ! bad ass!

  • the knife in scream was a buck 120 not a buck 119 the 120 is bigger

  • the buck blade is better than the kabar blade. well thats what i prefer

  • Just thought I would mention that cocobolo is a tropical hardwood, not a plastic or resin. Cool vid

  • im jealous, yours came in a cool box lol, mine came in a stupid plastic thing that was freaking hard to open :P

  • You shoulda used the knife to cut it out.

    LOL.

    ATF

  • holy cow, you replied faaaaaaaaaast hehehe, and i used my bantam to help me get it out hahaha

  • Indeed. I replied right as I got the email notification.

    ATF

    (Fastest reply ever: 11 seconds)

  • rofl... btw my 119 came with a leather sheath.. any idea why? o.0

  • Dude that's the Limited Edition! You paid regular price?

    There's only 1000 leather sheathed 119s made!

Sorry I brought your hopes up... I really don't know.

    ATF

  • I just bought a Buck 119 today. didn't know my leather holster was 1 of a 1000.

  • I was joking around.

    Congrats on your purchase though!

    ATF

  • i love my Buck!

  • Buck 119 or Kabar with brown leather handle? which one you think is better?

  • I'd prefer the blade of a Ka-Bar with the handle of the 119... if that helped.

    ATF

  • mine came with a leather sheath

  • thank you very much...i wanted to know how sharp it was. your camera has nice focus

  • Thanks.

I love to use the macro for close-up vids.

    ATF

  • I just bought a buck 119 and a buck 110 folding hunter at walmart for this years up coming hunting season im new to hunting so I got to buy all my gear myself, would these knives work well for field dressing a deer?

  • I would think so, but I personally have not done such a thing. So I really couldn't say.

    ATF

  • great hunting knife, belive me!

  • its full tang right?

  • Helpful review. Looking at it as a survival knife. Do you think it could be one? How good at batoning? Looks like it could do it well. Glad it's easy to sharpen. Don't think this knife could chop though, right?

  • I think it could be an SK. I have not batoned with this knife, so I couldn't tell you if it's any good at that.

Yeah, I'm quite sure this is not a chopper. If you want, go for something more heavy duty, maybe a RAT 4 or 6.

    ATF

  • I might go for this knife sometime. Thanks for the suggestion, Kershaw Outcast is GREAT survival knife, but high price, as high as a little over$100.

  • if you are looking for a good knife hat is heavy duty, try the becker line, specificaly the bk7, they are all heavy duty blades and will serve their purpose, recomend looking on ebay first, they are hard to come-by., by the way, great review!

  • Thanks for the suggestion, but I did get my survival knife, a Ka-Bar with I think hrayton or Cordura handles, not sure which but great knife, as I'm sure you know. New generation. Thanks again though, Becker does make some cool knives! Take care.

  • beleive it or not, Ka-Bar bought Becker a little while back and made some knives under their name, both are great knives and also might recomend the fallkniven f1 which is world renowned in the survival field.

  • Yeah, you're right. I think the Becker Knife and Tool is pretty cool, hope I have the name right.

  • im gonna pick this one up how much did yours cost

    5/5

  • $40, Wal*Mart.

    ATF

  • I have had one in my collection for about 15 years. It's a good knife I just wished Buck would upgrade thier steel a little. I'm just not a fan of 420 or 440a or b. I do understand though for some people this would be an ideal knife if only for its solid design and low price point.

Good knife review by the way.

  • Thank you.

I'd agree, they should upgrade the steel to something better. I wouldn't mind what it'd be, just something better than 420HC.

    ATF

  • I could be wrong about the Delrin. I haven't checked that info since i bought a woodsman at like age 12. I also could be mixing it up with another knife, i have a few. I take your word on this one over mine.

  • You may be, as I have never even heard of Delrin in my life. It could be possible that the earlier models were made with it.

    ATF

  • never heard of delrin? search delrin on google. then after search delrin handle. Many companies have used this dupont product as a knife handle: bokker, old timer, camillus, etc

  • I will search that.

    Thanks.

    ATF

  • nice to see a proud member of the NRA.

  • Absolutely.

    ATF

  • i have same knife , i got it from walmart to cuz it was cheaper there than crappytire (canadiantire) but i have leather case. good review

  • Cool.

I saw one with a leather sheath the other day at a local outdoors shop... it looks classy.

    ATF

  • Handle I believe is made of Delrin, a composite plastics. The cocobolo (wood from the cocobolo tree) handle version is the brass/wood handled version. Great review man, and also Les rocks, bear's not true to the form.

  • Thanks.

I believe it's actually Phenolic. No one has ever said anything about Delrin for the time I've known about this knife.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just unsure about that info.

    ATF

  • I see this knife all the time at Wal-Mart. I thought many times about getting it but have not. Cool review, nice touch with the flag mouse pad, I like that.

  • Thanks, Bryan.

Dude, next time you're at Wal*Mart please do us all a favor and buy this knife.

You will not regret your action.

    ATF

  • Alright, I may go tonight after work. Just to GETRDUN.........

  • Sounds good.

    Don't disappoint me.

    ATF

  • Andrew, I bought this knife today at wal-mart. Haven't used it yet. May get another one give to each of my boys. Very cool looking knife. Again thanks for your review.

  • Sweet.

That's cool, your boys will love them.

You're absolutely welcome. I'm glad I was able to help.

    ATF

  • That's a beautiful knife.

  • Amen!

    ATF

  • I don't care who you are, if you've got good stories or info... share them! History is my favorite subject and it's always happening.

So please, don't hold back any of your good info.

Instead, share it with the world!

    (That was a cheesy line)

Agreed. You can not go wrong with this knife and it's price especially from W*M.

    ATF

  • Thank you for your comment and history lesson :)

I did not know any of that, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. And now that you mention it, I remember the Scream dude holding up this knife.

    Thanks LL1.

    ATF

  • American industry is the best.

  • Amen to that.

    ATF

  • I was given this knife by my Gpa (he gave me many). I don't have it any more, but it was one of the older models with the leather ring handle.

I honestly love this knife! And in my opinion, the new polymer handles are better, as the leather o's swell when they get wet. (even enough to destroy the handle if it is wet enough!)

Regardless, the Buck 119 has always been one of my favourite knives!

  • Thanks for your story.

The B119 is also one of my faves.

    ATF

  • That is one of the things about Les Stroud. Bear Grylls (both are good and know what they are doing in my opinion), but he uses like a $600 knife, and Les uses a $30 one...

lol, sometimes price doesnt mean much I guess.

  • Very true.

For one $600 knife, you could buy 20 B119s.

I'd go for 20 over the one.

    ATF

  • That's a good way to put it.

  • good review. just bought this knife today! seems great. Phenolic is almost like a heavy duty version of fiber glass, real tough stuff. the pommel and gaurd are both made of aluminum, not nickle silver. once again good review.

  • Thank you for you nice comment and info regarding the pommel/guard.

(You may hate me for saying this, but I'm a Niner fan:)

    ATF

  • mine also has a different sheith and its made out of leather

  • That's cool. I'm sure you can buy the nylon sheath by itself if you'd prefer it.

    ATF

  • im in the NRA

  • Awesome.

    ATF

  • If you live in California, you can go to Yosemite or the Sierra Nevada for a vacation and camp there and use the knife.

  • Very true, I could do that.

The cool thing is, is that I live about an hour from Yosemite.

    ATF

  • Hi,

    concerning the handle material:

Buck's information, of course, is the right one!

There is, however, a Buck Special that has a Cocobolo handle.

btw: Cocobolo is a certain type of wood.

  • Thanks for your info. I wasn't sure about the Cocobolo thing.

Thanks and feel free to subscribe.

    ATF

  • Thank you so much for all of your information. I'm sure it wont' just help me, but future viewers of this video.

    ATF

  • That's what I was thinking.

Thank you so much 'wildfire' for your information. This will help me out along with future viewers who don't know what phenolic is.

    Thanks.

    ATF

  • This is what I found on the net.

Phenolic is the name usually given to a resin made of phenol (Phenol is also known as carbolic acid. It is a toxic, colourless crystalline solid) and an aldehyde (a highly reactive chemical compounds used in making resins and dyes). It is used anywhere rigid materials are needed, particularly to create moldings for consumer products, for some bearings, for insulation, and as a binder.

  • Great. Thank you for that information.

I have a question for you now: What material does phenolic most resemble? Is it like plastics, wood, or nylon??? If you don't want to do the research then I will.

    ATF

  • Plastic I belive. It is used for lots of different things. Including handle for kitchen knives and handles for many other things. Can also mixed with glass fibers.
