What happened to the great videos of Sarah Lee singing this song, at Wolftrap, and as an adult at the Guthrie Center? My daughter used to sing along to the one at Wolftrap. It great to watch the progression.
Ok I was born in 1979, 32 now, and I am a proud Arlo Guthrie fan. You will be surprised how many people my age that are "secretly" Arlo Guthrie fans because they "assume most people our age have no clue who he is" and 89% of the time this assumption is probably correct....BUT look at all the Arlo fans I find just from being open and bringing him up to random people (mostly internet network sites) It amazes me and I enjoy every minute of it when I can talk about Arlo and Woody and their Music!
AngelaRed, You should go see him in concert. I,m in Texas and he will be in Mississippi in the next month or 2 and I am taking a road trip to see him. If he comes anywhere near your home try and catch his show. You won't regret it. I have seen him several times and he is always a treat. I always leave his show with undescribable great feelings.
Wonderful song by Pete--never tire of hearing Arlo. My sister suggested this song for my dad's memorial service this week: now to find sheet music to hand to the organist??
There is no such thing as missing out on the Arlo Guthrie Era. We all eventually discover the wonder that is his beautiful music and embrace it; then welcome others who do discover his music.
Thank you thank you such memories! i am so looking forward to seeing arlo tomorrow night in bennington vermont. such a joy to be able to share with my mom and my children also. thank you so much for having this here.
Thank you so much - I thought I might have dreamed of having it on an album, but I could not find it. When I went on to the site, I saw the album cover and had the immediate shock of recognition! I need to have this in my music library. One of the joys of parenthood is sharing beloved music with my children. I love seeing the videos. Blessings to you and yours
I LOVE it!! My kids want this song, but I cannot find this song on any of the iTune downloads for Arlo. Did I miss it? Please tell me where to find Arlo's version of this song!
You can find the song on his CD titled "Outlasting The Blues." Actually Arlo is uploading the CD today to iTunes. Or, visit his website. They won't let me post it on the comments. I'll put it in the discriptions area.
That Muppet on the stairs with the shades on sorta looks like Gordon...I know it's someone else, but that's what it reminded me of. Great video...I'd never seen it!
That would be Steve Ide on the stairs. We sent them a tape of the shows Arlo was doing in those days with Shenandoah and some photos. They made these muppets for this show. David Grover, Steve Ide, Carol Ide, Danny Velika and the incredible Terry a la Berry!
That's so funny! No wonder arlo looked so at home during this segment... How long did the muppets tour with arlo until he noticed he was the only one moving his lips?? ;-)

One of the greatest songs ever....we sang this in Vietnam in 1968-69; while we were missing our homes so much....

When I was 10 years old and living in London, I got to visit the set of the Muppet Show for this episode. So nice to see it again!

This is GREAT! Thanks for posting it. It is Arlo, a long time ago, but still timeless. To see Sarah do it makes it all the more special.

I don't care what anybody says, seeing Arlo Guthrie and the Muppets singing together....priceless!

I haven't seen this since 1979, but I have always remembered the song, especially the Muppets singing the background for some reason.
Crazy how memory works.

Who a great video. I was born in 1979...and no youngin since I'm almost 30. But it still is disapointing that I missed out on the Arlo Guthrie Era

I like how if you look at this footage and then look at him during Woodstock, he was nothing like this. He was a hippie.

WOW sometimes you learn things when you read all the comments thanks Mrs. G.
how cool it must have been for them to see muppets modeled after them.
what ever happened to those muppets?
