I think some cars allow you to disable the air bag now for these reasons, like if a parent has to car pool. But even without an air bag, putting an infant in the front is still risky because if the baby starts crying, the driver (usually the parent) may look over and try and address them, thus distracting themselves from driving the car, and kaboom!
This is exactly why Mercedes puts a special sensor in some of there cars that will say if there is a rear facing car seat in the passenger seat. The only problem with this is that you have to buy a car seat specificly made for this. They are called BABY SMART compatible seats i think
@whattheheck1000 It depends more on height (and possibly weight) than anything else. But yes, they should be safe to ride in front. If you're not sure though ask a doctor.

I was driving on a dirt road, there was a rock in the road, a few seconds later the airbags exploded randomly. I must say, It was very loud and fast.
Kan easily kill you if you lean froward.

its probably safe because the little safety paragraph on the inside mirrors suggests the person e 13 years or older in the front seat
