Wilhelmina: the last great Queen of the Netherlands. She opposed (national) socialism and fruitless parliamentarism. She knew all too well that rights are nothing till they have established themselves as mights. She also knew that a true monarch should be above the people and lead the common man, who needs someone he can look up to, towards a more noble cause than a simple state handout. We still miss this extraordinary woman.

wat een gezeur over wat het koningshuis kost ze leveren ook geld op door hun contacten en hun invloed dus zeur niet wees blij dat ander naties tegen ons koningshuis opkijken !!!!

waarom aanbidden mensen die koningin? ze heeft nog nooit wat voor mij gedaan behalve mijn belastingcenten gebruiken voor haar eigen plezier en als er oorlog is of een ramp dan weten ze niet hoe snel ze het land uit moeten.

the Republican speaks...why do people give attention to Koningin Wilhemina? Might it have something to do with the symbolic power she held for millions of Dutch people during the War?. Her down to earth style and informality that is the hallmark of Holland's reputation? Somthing to do with, her Ambassadorship for Holland and the respect Governments overseas had for her?
It's your guess and you can spend your silly belastingcenten on buying a history book!

@baconsplace Goed gezegd ;-) Soms word je er zo moe van dat men maar blijft zeuren over 'hun' belastingcenten terwijl het aandeel per volwassen Nederlander niet meer dan 2 euro is aan het koninklijk huis. Alsof een president goedkoper is :-)

@raspaskas1 Koop indd. een boek.. Wilhelmina wilde helemaal niet weg! Ze moest uiteindelijk van de regering, maar dan alleen tot Londen en niet verder, later moest Juliana met haar kinderen naar Canada vanwege de bombardementen op London, maar wilhelmina wilde perse blijven. Waarom denk je dat ze 'Moeder des lands' word genoemd? Voor de lol? Hou toch eens op met dat gezeik om belastingcenten..met 16.7mil. zielen en de handel is het aandeel per persoon niet meer dan rond de 2 euro..

Eddi, this is done very nice. I am actually of dutch ancestry in RL and rember listening to Radio Netherlands in the 1980s. Thanks for sharing this.
