Basil and Ranold are still playing regular gigs with a great new guitarist Archie who also has his own band 'the Muddy River Band' and the aptly named 'boy wonder' on the drums. They play mostly in the North Devon area around Barnstaple/Combe Martin. Dave Briggs the original guitarist plays regularly in the south east and guested with Basil and Randy this year at Croyde Bay.
what has happened to these guys. I was working with Bob Kerr's Whoopee band somewhere in the mid / late 70'sand these were the support band. I got to know Randy and the guys well and saw them at the Cartoon in Croydon. They did some good stuff including "Jumping at the woodside" and "Dark Town strutters ball" and used to finish with a 12 bar bluesy thing with a needle jumping on a record effect. I loaned my tape to a mate and never saw it again.... good band thanks for posting this
A top band - I used to see them a lot in the Grey Horse, Kingston and the Half Moon, Putney - always great nights. And Basil? I used to work with him as well as going to the odd airshow - get in touch,Bas!
I drove for them in '74-'75, while they were on the London pub circuit, so I heard an awful lot of their music. They sound exactly the same now. They are a relly tight band, and Randy is a superb front man!
seen them at the thatch in croyde on friday what a great entertaining band

It must be 30 years since I last saw Basil's at The Kensington. Sound just the same (just as good!)
