Used to play this on the jukebox at the bowling alley. People would foget their hamburgers and get up and dance to this and/or James Brown. Great memory.
I lived in St Louis for about five years in the 60's. In '67 i used to go this outdoor skating rink that i can't remember the name of for the life of me. What i do recall is that they played this song after every 4 or five records; and when they did it never failed to get any and everybody up and a-skatin! Couples would be skating hand in hand, dudes skating backwards. This is where i learned to skate. Wish i could remember the name of that rink. As Diva said; no fights. Ev'ry 1 was having fun.
@thewordkeeper The same year, my grade-school class went to a roller-skating rink for a class Christmas party, and instead of organ music, they played rock-and-roll (and some uptempo soul) records, including this one.
When the Strawberry Alarm Clock's "Incense and Peppermints" was being played, I (a klutz on skates) skated off, took off my skates, and started dancing. This record ("Soulfinger") was the next one they played.
Maybe the happiest five minutes of dancing I had as a young boy!
Now this is what you party to!! All these sorry young "so called" pop music kids out nowadays are just wannabees, no idea as to what real music is. This is how we used to party back in the 60's and 70's. Not a curse word mentioned, no guns or killing. Just good, clean fun and a whole lot of moving. It's sad that today's genre of music has gone straight to hell!!!!
@Diva2678 and better yet, music in the 60s and 70s had no references to drug use either! like the boy who had a magical dragon named Puff! get over yourself diva...everybody likes music from their own generation. your music isn't any better or worse than my music grandma
@physicsphdgenius - What about "Kicks" by Paul Revere and the raiders or "Mothers little helper" by the stones or "pusherman" by steppenwolf or "That smell" by Skynard?
@Diva2678 No doubt- These MF's today couldn't pick up a instrument and PLAY it if they had to.Nowadays they just get on a computer and punch it all in.. AND these kids today can't EVEN dance like we used to, either.

This song is so much better from the movie "Spies Like Us" than the title song that Paul McCartney did for the movie
