  • The clips were way to short for some of the songs. Hardly able to hear the similarities. Good job tho.

  • "Lonely - Akon"? LOL ... The original "Lonely" is by Vinton Bobby, which I'm sure is appreciative of you handing over his credit to one of today's blights on our culture. I thank you as well, btw.

  • robot

rick rolling before that was cool

  • Tetris and Super Mario Land use public domain music. The similarities in most of the other cases can be explained simply by the themes and/or memes of the musical styles and genres themselves.

So, although not very meaningful, this video is certainly very interesting!

  • Green Hill and Dreams of an Absolution

  • It's tennpenny tower also another fallout one the song as a baby and Charles in charge chorus melody

  • Coasta del and that fallout 3 hotel holy shit the one you blow up megaton from

  • DKC introduced me to Vangelis and I'm really glad for that because both music is amazing

  • That song on circle of the moon is originally from castlevania Bloodlines for the sega genesis.

  • So I notice that the rhythms and chords are similar but the melodies aren't at all.... except those that literally are reminiscent to another piece.

  • I'm gonna be putting together something like this specifically for Guilty Gear and BlazBlue music based on other metal bands.

  • The tetris music is actually supposed to be the classical music.

  • @NancyPhantom Actually Russian music kinda

  • @NancyPhantom actually I think it's russian folk... all of tetris' songs

  • mario kart super circuit beach music sounds like the theme from a summer place

  • Yes! I always found DKC2's similar to bald mountain!

  • Robo roll xD

  • 3:44 Queen's song reminds me of Kuja's theme from FF9.

  • all this time I've been playing Chrono Trigger, I've been getting rick rolled and I never knew it.

  • great video dude :D

    make another please :D

  • Donkey Kong Jr. is "Mr. Lonely" but Akon didn't write it and his version hasn't been out since the freaking 80s.

  • sugar plum fairy sad

  • The SOTN reverse castle theme makes me wanna cry :S

  • Damn you chrono trigger!! You got me that time, i didn't see it coming!

  • actually Akon's Lonely comes from the Wizard of Oz' Somewhere over the Rainbow...not Donkey Kong

  • donkey kong jr. is mr.lonly

  • hahaha omg, i knew I ve heard robo theme somewhere

  • Ah shit!! I even get Rick Rolled in Chrono Trigger!!!

  • Dammit I got rick rolld again

  • Antarctica and In a Snow-Bound Land! Both great compositions!

  • what about the simerlaritys between sonic 06's crisis city and the chrono trigger battle theme?

  • Agony - Intro Theme

    Dimmu Borgir - Sorgens Kammer

  • This may have already been said, but the start of Robo's theme always made me think of Material Girl by Madonna.

  • @UpgradePlus

What about the chorus to the song "Never" by Heart?

  • We all got Rick roll'd...Thanks to Chrono Trigger...

  • WTF was that at the end ... CLOCKCLOCKCLOCKCLOCK! Btw I did not mean to flag this... I'm on my iPhone and it's almost 12:00 am

  • @blackdevil4321 most of the similarities you're noticing are both blatantly audvious and/or intentional.

  • I'm pretty sure the 0:24 one is also in The Sims somewhere...

  • u got rick rolled

  • Theme from a summer place is a better match for Guardia Castle, dont u think so? XD

  • CLOCK CLOCK CLOCK CLOCK

  • CLOCKCLOCKCLOCKCLOCK

  • I remember that St. Thomas is in Saints Row 2.

  • We've all been Robo Roll'd AND Rick Roll'd

  • theme from a summer place sounds like shy guy beach from mario kart super circuit

  • Rockin' KK - Animal Crossing and Hippie Battle- Earthbound are both quite similar to the beginning of a number of Chuck Berry songs though I can't find one that matches the same chord changes.

  • I got one:

SSBB Victory Theme, after you win a V.S. match and

Jackson 5: Can you feel it.

    It's the same chord progression.

  • Koopa Road

    SSBM Menu Theme

    Pokemon DPPl: Route 209

    Green Day: 21 Guns

  • Costa Del Sol also sounds like Track 29 from Tetris Plus.

  • I'VE BEEN ROBO ROLL'D D:

  • now thats how you do a rick roll

  • Baby Bowser's lullaby from Yoshi's Stoiry with the Nutcracker.

  • HOLY SHIT, THE APE ESCAPE AND THE SSBB SIMILARITY!!!!

    *mind fucking blown!*

  • I recall Mega Man 4 's skull man's stage sorta sounds like kanye west's homecoming

  • fuck i got rick rolld

  • robo theme, it's a trap!

  • CLOCKCLOCKCLOCKCLOCK

  • A few more for you:

    Metal Gear Solid 2 Theme

Sviridov - Snow Storm Part 9 - Winter Road (close enough to be considered plagiarism)

    Mother 3 - Audacious March

Shostakovich 5th symphony - 1st mvt - about 7 minutes from the end (it's obvious when you hear it)

    Mother 3 - Unfounded Revenge

Shostakovich 6th symphony - 3rd mvt - about 30 seconds in (again, pretty obvious)

  • Rockin KK is based on something else, not johnny b goode. I'm not sure the song name but i think it was by canned heat

  • Akon's song is stolen from a much older song, whose title I forget. The Dr Mario one is definitely a ripoff - the same game practically copied the Beatles' Lady Madonna. And the DKC2/Antarctica one is obvious too, and Rareware are notorious for "borrowing" other people's music for their games.

  • i got rick roll'd AGAIN....damn it!

  • I read the desp(info) so I know its coming

  • Costa del sol FFVII sounds like the sims 1 overwrld music.

  • akon didn't make that, it's a sample

  • Dr Mario VS Mode Win is also VERY similar to some Crash Bandicoot's themes, do not know wich.

  • clock xd

  • We've all got rickrolled

  • they dount sound the same

  • CLOCK CLOCK CLOCK CLOCK LOL

  • Well, the Pokemon one was intentional, if you look at the series, it has tons of references to Pulseman.

Weird, I cannot believe I didn't notice the Tetris one, and I love both songs.

  • WOW, amazing work.... Congratulations!!!!

  • You know what I realized? The Submerged Castle music in Pikmin 2 sounds like the final dungeon theme in Earthbound Zero! . . . Or so I'm told.

  • so, all the chrono trigger players was rick rolled? xD

  • @Brawlerthehedgehog EXCACTLY!! excpect that rickroll was after chrono trigger....PIME TARADOX??

  • Awesome video. Here's one I figured out recently. Super Mario 64 - Koopa's road, the intro level stage to Mega Man X2, and Stan Bush - Fight to Survive (Bloodsport soundtrack) all sound similar.

  • For "We Will Rock You," I was expecting that different version of Kuja's Theme from FFIX.

  • yea me, too. that dark rock theme

  • Haha rick roll, yeah of course it's perfectly that one

I'm doubtfull for Greenhill and Ice snow bound land

I don't think you can include it because its obviously the same songs, everyone knows it well.

Rock'N Roll Racing has rock remixs for soundtrack

  • the first part of the Melee main theme and the past after the intro of bowsers stage theme in SM64 (the one last in this video), are very much alike, so much that I believe it is intentional.

  • Also,

    Robo Warrior - Stage 1

    Megaman 2 - Flashman Stage

  • THE MOB RUUULLLLESSS

  • I never knew about the Dr. Mario ones! Cool!

  • music from sonic 3 and michael jackson songs, a gamegear sonic stage and one of janet jacksons songs.....and thats all i can think of for rite now. and that robo roll was WRONG!!!!!!!!! LOL

  • haha I always noticed that Costa del sol's theme theme in FF7 sounded similar to Santana's "Oye Como va"

  • lol rick astley

  • The Sugar Plum Fairy dance & Tetris are both russian

  • Theme From A Summer Place reminds me of MK:SC Shy Guy Beach

  • ahh i got rick rolled!

  • robo rolled

  • I'd like to point out that "Sinking old Sanctuary" was likely intentional, as a large amount of Circle of the Moon's music was just remixes of other Castlevania songs.

  • Try to compare Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy with Bowser's Castle from Yoshi's Story. They're really similar!

Also, Ending from Super Mario Bros. and Oh Christmas Tree.

  • Tales of Symphonia - Sheena's theme

    Rick James - Super freak

  • How do those sound alike?

  • There's a whole article on Earthbound Central with similarities between the music in EarthBound and other songs.

  • I all so Love the nutcracker one

  • Runaway Five at the Apollo Theater (Earthbound)

    Funky Town

  • There's a nearly identical passage in Tifa's Theme (FF7) and Eyes on Me (FF8) - same composer, same game platform, same series, same character archetype... different worlds, different characters.

  • Part 3! Part 3! Part 3!

  • Sorry man, I lost interest and quit. SockpuppetRemix is doing it now.

If you want to, you can go ahead too.

  • I Love the salsa one

  • Shy Guy Beach (Mario Kart Super Circuit) and Theme from a summer place.

  • By the way, the Chrono Trigger Battle Theme always reminded me of the intro music of Sledge Hammer.

  • i noticed that too

  • What? The Sledge Hammer thing or the Theme from a Summer Place?

  • both, actually

  • Hmmm....Correct me if I'm wrong, but to me Costa del Sol from FFVII also sounds a bit like that Moulin Rouge music.

  • I listened to Costa del Sol, and it sounds exactly like a song that I don't remember the name of. Crap.

  • omg i know EXACTLY what you mean...like from another video game.....i think it's earthbound

  • don't bother putting intentional songs in.

  • Mario RPG: Culex Battle

    Final Fantasy IV: Boss Battle

    Identical. Same composer, though.

  • I just noticed. Theme From a Summer Place sounds just like Koopa Beach from Super Mario Kart! (Or was it Shy Guy beach from Super Circuit?)

  • omg spiderman maximum carnage's song is stupidly similar to black sabath's!!

  • Someone notice that the song of:

Banjo tooie final boss Song And

Donkey kong Boss battle sound Very Similar

  • I heard Donkey Kong Boss battle in a video without knowing where it was from, but I KNEW it was by Grant Kirkhope (the music composer for the Rare games) because he has his own style of music.

  • Which Donkey Kong Boss Battle?

  • The beginning of Lost Painting sounds a lot like the Minuet Of Forest in Zelda OOT

  • Donkey Kong Jr Intro sound more like a soundtrack of Lucky Star

    lol

  • you have to have a great culture on this, congratulations, not many people can make a video like this.

  • U RICKROLLD ME :( Sad Face ):

  • Comment removed

  • Also Kuja's Battle Theme from Final Fantasy IX has an intro that greatly resembles We Will Rock You's intro.

  • Mario RPG - Y'oster isle race.

    Sounds like: American Patrol!

  • Costa de sol sound a bit like the animal crossings for gamecube opening.

  • Rockin' K.K. from Animal Crossing and Hippiebattle from Earthbound are both intentionally ripping off Rock ' N Roll Music by The Beatles. I believe its on the album Beatles For Sale.

  • LOL the donkey kong jr and akon one is hilarious

  • how dare you compare Chrono Trigger to Rick Astley!

  • 1 08 is awesome.

I've got 3 songs that all look a bit the same, the fight in castlevania AoS between Soma and the belmont guys (wich is the same when you play him), the song that you hear in megaman X when Zero rescue you at the begining and a song in journey to sulius, maybe the 5th level, and maybe another one game. It's strange since this music isn't something natural to play.

  • I just got RickRoll'd

  • You know, the Costa Del Sol theme, were it done with real instruments, would actually make for a nice and longer extended version of the Oye Como Va song were it remade.

  • lemmings have can can too

  • Also noted, the song of DKC2 called Haunted Chase and the song called Night on Bald Mountain also share something else in common with another song. If you hear the song called Waltz of the Demons in the first Doom game, there are parts that kind of sound similar to those other songs as well.

  • cant count casstlevaina's since its the same company.

  • Also, with two of the DKC2 songs, parts of them, namely the In a Snow Bound Land, and especially the one where it is played on the swampy levels, sounds like parts of the Phil Collins song called "In the Air Tonight."

  • Yes they sound similar - I think the reason is they used the same drum machine - there's also a song called "Nie Gesagt" by Die Ärzte - it has the same cricket-like drum parts

  • mega man 2 flashmans stage : seek and destroy by metallica

mega man 1 elecmans stage : faithfully by journey

  • stevie b- spring love

    megaman 2 (nes)- quickman's stage

  • There are great, one correction though

Dr Mario Title theme is "Life could be a Dream (Sh-Boom)"

  • LMAO on the rickroll!

    Never gonna give you up!

    Never gonna let you down!

Never gonna come around and desert you!

    Never gonna make you cry!

    Never gonna say goodbye!

Never gonna tell you lies and hurt you!

  • ROBO´s theme is a RICK ROLL! My life doens´t have sense anymore!!! aaaaaaaah!!!!!

  • I don't agree with you in any song, except the intentional ones of course, and the songs from Dr. Mario.

    lol at the end

  • CLOCKCLOCKCLOCKCLOCK

  • is it not fair to use same composers and classic musics that noone owns that get used for games? like suger plum faerie?

  • Here's some more... Yet another sample of "A Summer Place" appears toward the middle of the "Courage and Pride" theme from Chrono Trigger. Bubsy - Cheese Wheels of Doom (middle section) Bill Haley - Rock Around the Clock ("Put your glad rags on...") Mega Man 7 - Shade Man Eagles - Hotel California Mega Man 1 (GB) - Wily Stage 2 Foreigner - Hot Blooded Goldeneye 007 - Control Center C&C Music Factory - Everybody Everybody (maybe a bit of a stretch)
  • Whoops, I mean Black Box - Everybody Everybody :-P

  • Don't forget:

The Legend of Zelda (NES) - Dugeon theme

    Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata

Mega Man 7 (SNES) - Junk Man

    Lufia - Boss Battle

Super Mario Bros. 3 (SNES) - Level 6 (Ice World)

Mario Party (N64) - Slowy Slowy

    Some songs you might remember:

Monopoly (Sega Master System) - Title Screen (The Entertainer)

Monopoly (SNES) - Player Bankruptcy (Funeral March)

  • Youre no stranger to love....you know the rules...and so do i

  • in the dkc2 - haunted chase

put castlevania circle of the moon : final boss theme (dracula)

  • Some of these are quite a stretch,, but others are interesting.

Here's one you don't have that's pretty remarkable: check out the similarity between the music they play in the desert in Earthbound (SNES) and How Bizarre by OMC (and Earthbound came out almost a year earlier)

  • Look into Guilty Gear, almost all the songs are based of classic metal songs.

  • I cracked up at robo, too! hahaha!

  • Theme From A Summer Place is also similar to the middle of the string section in Stage 1 of Kirby's Avalanche. (watch?v=zv_F4-8xLno)

  • Well, my uncle who stay with me. . .him and i do talk about the music comparisons whether or not if theyre in video games. Him and I do agree that some video game music are copied from original music artists.

  • this kid is gay this whole movies gay

  • I know right

  • You should look at music made by Robert "Bobby" Prince.

At Doom's Gate from Doom was based on Master of Puppets.

The Menu music from Cosmo Cosmic's Adventure is a ZZ Top Song

And the other way around: Space-TV Fortress from Ape Escape 3 songs was a rip off of the Final Level song from Commander Keen 5.

  • actually a better example would be DKC2 - Mining Melancholy is very similar FF3/6 - Devil's Laboratory.

  • "The Mob Rules"

If you also play Separation Anxiety, another Spiderman/ Venom game, they use the same song.

But it sounds more like its Sabbath counterpart in this version

  • i lol'd at robo theme

  • This is excellent! Both this and the first part are really great work! Looking forward to part 3! :)

  • i cracked up when it said rickroll was similar to robo's theme!

  • megaman 2- quickman's stage

    stevie b- spring love

  • The Type 1 Tetris music similarity is because both Tetris and Peter Tchacovski's (lol I can't spell) Nutcracker Sweet were both made in Russia. Good video.

  • Many of these are on purpose. Some of the same music composers that work on the Ape Escape series were hired to compose the music for Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Oh the Cyber Ace Theme in Ape Escape 3 sounds like it loosely resembles the music in Pulseman and the powers and costume are nearly identical.

  • Maximum carnage rules

  • Not only were Pulseman and Pokemon (Diamond/Pearl) both by Game Freak as another commenter mentioned, both those songs were written by Jun'ichi Masuda.

  • I like Carlos Santana, he's one of the best pitchers in baseball today.

    DAMN ROBO'S THEME, I JUST GOT RICKROLL'D!!!

  • LOL ROBO'S THEME.

  • Some of these obviously aren't coincidences, like Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy/Tetris, so I don't think they should necessarily be here.

  • Wow, DK Jr. - Lonely surprised me. Altough I was always thought that the DK Jr. theme sounds a little sad.

  • Well, it is SUPPOSED to be sad and it is so for two reasons. It is the only time that Mario (a.k.a., Jumpman) was ever the villian in his career and that DK Jr. is naturally sad that Mario/Jumpman captured his daddy, Quietschquatsch.

  • stevie b- spring love

    megaman 2: nes- quickman

  • There is a song that sounds like Super Mario Galaxy's Gusty Garden song, but I forget what it is! Ugh. It's quite similar.

  • The man who composed for Pokemon composed for Pulseman.

  • Type 1 Tetris Music

Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (LinkTetra)

That's actually a classical piece by the Russian composer Tchaikovsky - Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.

  • I know. LinkTetra was just who suggested the "similarity".

  • It's not just a "similarity"... all of Tetris's music pieces are classic Russian songs.

  • that is, of course, if by "all" you mean "some"

  • Casto Del Soul - FFVII sounds mostly like starman from the mario series.

  • Also a bit like one of the songs from "Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine".

  • 1999 by Prince and Sonic the Hedgehog 2's Metropolis zone bear a resemblance.

  • Hmm... some of these comparisons are a bit of a stretch.
