Nope they are going to use a 6.2L, its the same block casting as the 7.0L, they are just using a smaller bore. Thus giving the block thicker walls allowing for higher compression, making it perfect for a supercharger, and is supposed to put out 700 HP.

The speculation is that the current 505 Z06 will become the base model for the next Generation Corvette. No one's really sure when the C7 will start, but the general consensus seems to suggest that it may start anywhere from 2010 to 2012. The BD will likely appear as an 09 model.

speed and performance of a car doesn't have much to do with extra fancy advanced materials.Vette is cheaper cause the body panels are mostly SMC fiberglass. Mercielago uses all hand-layup carbon fiber.They use the same type of composite n supplier as the Boeing 787. The material is pricey but the labor is way more.Lambo is limited material overkill for only the super-riches. But Vettes are better engineered ultimate driving machines that achieve ultra-high performance at a fraction of the cost.

well, the way i see it, the z06 is a car that very aerodynamically efficient, boasts a 505 hp ls7 engine, is still agressive after 120, and can beat a ferrari or lamborghini in a drag race, Then I say it's a great car. More bang for the buck.
