  • so weird that within like 2 years most of the people on this film had died

  • @MyaChrisify This movie was on TV the night Montgomery Cleft died. He was asked if he wanted to watch it. He said "Absolutely not." Those were the last words he ever said. Eerie, but true.

  • look how young Eli Wallach looks! handsome too even at his age now

  • we are lucky we are seeing this movie here! Thanks

  • 77 Likes Two 7's That's Lucky Baby !.

  • I heard about this movie on the vegan podcast "Our Hen House." They commented on how Marilyn's character was so sensitive toward animals.

  • Ugh wth!!!! why the dam tag!!!

  • Gosh the pain and depression Marilyn shows is truly hearbreaking. She was a beautiful person inside and out, and everybody was a total shark to her. I hope she's found peace wherever she is right now

  • A great film completely ruined by that annoying 'Created with... ' over the top. Why bother to upload the film?

  • Thanks for down it.

Marilyn monroe in one of the best performance for me, she was a good actress.

  • sad to think this was Clark Gable's last movie.

  • im glad she actually speaks with her regular voice in this movie instead of trying to sound all dreamy like all her other ones.

  • It's ironic how Marilyn Monroe got divorced right after this movie and don't think she got a present from Miller after that.

  • @AngelicLove21 hahahaaa

  • great movie!!!

  • i wish i could do my hair like her, with the bun its so pretty!! <3

  • thanks so much for posting this I have been searching for a good link for a whie

  • OH MY Marylin Monroe, Clark Gable, & Clint Montgomery ALL IN ONE...LOVE IT!!!

  • i feel like i'm watching the end of this movie instead of the beginning with all the name listings and sad music in the beginning

  • @NIghtRider805 Fun fact: Until the '70s, the credits were always shown at the beginning of the movie. The Godfather Part 1 was one of the first movies to change that tradition.

  • So is Mrs.Pettigrew Marilyn's advocate in this film?

  • people actually hating the user to uploaded this video due to the words in the middle.. that's wrong, be grateful that this person uploaded this movie with risk of getting his account deleted.. plus, maybe the user couldn't find this movie free anywhere else without those words in the middle :/

  • @xRt66x

I think most of us would've preferred it not be uploaded at all, then.

  • @68mochagirl: No actually...I don't mind the words at all. They're not annoying enough to complain about, in my opinion.

  • @68mochagirl: Nevermind, actually they are. XD

  • @xRt66x Well said .

  • If you're going to post something to the net, find (or buy) a program that won't watermark the video. This is irritating to watch.

  • Marilyn esperaba más de su marido arthur miller con este guion, lo detestaba

nadie entendió a marilyn ni su propio marido, tan bella, tan inteligente si quizas demasiado inteligente para esa epoca.

  • @Morenato ESTOY DEACUERDO CONTIGO n_n XOXO

  • dear lawd, what a beauty she was!

  • DO NOT WATCH THIS...ADVERTS OVER FACES...FUCK YOU...WRECKED!!!!

  • Hey, the older woman talking with her in the mirror was Mrs. Pettigrew, the woman who sold Barney Fife that piece of crap car on the Andy Griffith show. LOL I'm sure nobody knows what I'm talking about.

  • @EtherealLuv I sure do!

  • Can I just point out that the mouths aren't in-sync with the audio (the voices)

  • Life is sad and so is divorce. The person uploading this movie would probably welcome knowing other ways to add this movie to You Tube, but I don't see the point in calling the person names. If you do not care to watch the movie as is, don't.

  • THIS MOVIE IS FUCKING SAAAADDD. it's a crazy example of life immitating art. marilyn n clift were in horrible shape and depressed. and gable was retiring;although thats not sad, him and marilyn died after the the picture. arthur miller who wrote the movie was getting divorced from monroe. and the movie is about divorce.

  • to the uploader

SERIOUSLY: please erase this invalidated copy immediately. You do not put oploads with commercials on youtube.

Please do the efford and find another way.

  • hey you moron who uploaded this - be sure to use a licensed copy later on. The version you have put on youtube is useless

  • The reasons why they shot it in B&W weren't just centered on Marilyn Monroe.

  • Omg... Poor Marilyn, you could just see it in her face that she didn't want to do this movie or how she said that she wanted to murder "Marilyn Monroe" :(

  • @evexx08 could you upload seven year itch if you have it please xx

  • It's a shame people only remember Marilyn Monroe as a dumb blonde bombshell, but she did some good fims with consistent acting like: the misfits, don't bother to Knock and niagara. But Twentieth Century Fox always insist on the same caracther.

  • Miss Monroe and Miss Thelma Ritter (the lady on this scene) met 11 years ago during the filming of "All about eve" with Bette Davis and Anne Baxter. In this time, Marilyn was only a beginner on hollywood with only few lines and no fame, and miss Davis was very hard with her, treating her bad, but Thelma was always sweet with Marilyn. They never worked together untill "The Misfits". In this movie Marilyn was the star and did a romantic couple with Clark Gable....... the wheels of destiny!!

  • Wow, Marilyn Monroe was the actress of her time!

  • does that thing on the screen go off ??

  • Thank you! I was waiting for this! You are great ! Thanks. Loving it!

  • isn't there a way you could take those words off???

  • how dare they put words over her flawless face.

  • @heatherheath2010 Yeah, they should do what JFK did all over her face.

  • Really great movie, mate..

it's an honor to watch Marilyn's movies.

  • Comment removed

  • shame that the speech is out of sync

  • I would suggest--if you could find a copy the first Monroe bio, by Maurice Zolotow (written a year before her death)..."Norma Jean" by Fred Guiles...the Donald Spoto book, tho I don't agree with his theory on her death (I believe she was a suicide) and a book called "The Many Lives of Marilyn Monroe" by Sarah Churchwell...also James Haspiel's charming book, which shows the very real girl behind the image.

  • Why was it filmed in black and white when they had the technology to film in colour?

  • montgomery cliff is so sentimentel wooww,,,,,,,,,,,,awesome he is like a little bit james dean acting

  • Well, not quite. While PSYCHO was dismissed intially by critics early in 1960 (the '60s was the snottiest decade for film criticism) the movie wasn't a "failure". It was a box office smash, and by the end of the year, many reviewers who'd sneered at it, were now praising it ---- so that change of heart only took a few months.... THE MISFITS took longer for critics to come around, but it's now seen as one of MM's most important films.

  • One more thing.Clark Gable died a week after production was complete which was quite a shocker to everyone including most of all Norma Jeane.A tabloid at the time indicated in black and white that Marilyn was responsible. She was devastated. She came near close to throwing herself out the window of the New York apt she shared with Mr Miller. Mr Gable was her idol. Is it any wonder that she hated this movie. The poor girl was going down for the count.

  • @jellybeans178 At the end of the production party She held up a glass to the staff and crew and proposed a toast and I quote "Cheers no Tears"She was a very brave woman to have held on to her sanity as long as she did.At the end of it all with decades that have gone and decades that have yet to come.Might I propose a toast to you dearest Norma Jeane,Cheers no Tears.

  • @jellybeans178 why was she held responsible ?

  • @00theoutsider00

Drugs, mostly uppers and downers, flubbing the lines etc.. pushed this movie way over budget, for example, In the scene where she is having breakfast with Mr. Gable, according to the tabloids she had to consume dozens of eggs to complete that scene and overall, it was the publicity monster machine of the period. She was the target. Mr Gable died of a massive heart attack due to an already weakened heart condition but of course Marilyn got the blame. The press was heartless.

  • She hated this movie. This was the cap that led to her divorce from Mr Miller in 1961.

  • @jellybeans178 Oh yeah, not mention during filming when she was admitted to the Payne Whitney fiasco.Where she was treated for drugs like an insane person. The one nightmare she always feared. When a reporter asked about her stay there she commented that Payne Whitney gave her a pain. She always found some humor no matter what.

  • @jellybeans178 i think it's quite understandible why

  • Thanks for uploading this :)

  • @Dracosgal8 your welcome =)

  • Some directors prefer the look of black and white film. People still occasionally use it today.

  • does anyone know, why it was shot in black and white? i don't see the point of it

bec in 1960 the colour technic was already a standard

  • @flaminia5 also they said they filmed it in black and white cause the cameraman couldn't film her, her eyes were dead, completely absent, well it's a rumor

  • @xxChiQuiTitaxx73 well, yes, it's a rumor

i have another theory on this topic, cheers

  • @flaminia5 and what do you think? i heard that theory when i saw a report about her, it said that the shooting was awful for her, everybody was mean with her especially the director who said that he only took her for the film cause "she's a whore" and she was always late and drugged , she just couldn't shot, the cameraman said her eyes were full of blood and absent, poor girl she was so unhappy

  • @xxChiQuiTitaxx73 well, 1st q is: which year? 1961, what a remarkable film has made a great impact on the public short before? "Psycho", which was shot in black and white, a phoney, as he was, John Huston shot his movie, which cries for colour also in black and white, capito?

  • @flaminia5 yes you're right but today psycho is consider as a classic whereas when it came out in 1960 it was a failure

  • @xxChiQuiTitaxx73 i am afraid, you are bad informed

  • @xxChiQuiTitaxx73 i'm not :), i'm 19 yes but though i know a lot about movie history :) go to any webside, you'll see that psycho was bad received when it came out by critics who thought it was not as good as Vertigo and North by the northest, just like one of the New Tork Times critic who thought the movie was awful but later said it was one of his favorite! today the movie is recognized by critics, but you're right about public, only the public like it in 1960 not critics

  • @xxChiQuiTitaxx73 They filmed it in black and white because it was THAT KIND OF MOVIE. Moody and European. Why was "Pyscho" in black and white, or "The Apartment" or "Suddenly Last Summer?" It's the director's choice and vision. It had nothing to do with her bloodshot eyes. Plenty of color shots exist from the movie set. She looks fine. But let's just blame Marilyn for everything.

  • @waif55 Hitch said he it's cheaper in b&w and it would be too scary in color!

as for the misfits they fimed it in b&w for many reasons, the cameraman said her eyes were absent you have to know that she was reputed being difficult and late on her movies!

"she looks fine" yes she did look, it's just a movie, look at Michael jackson, he seemed looking fine during his last rehearsal but he was at his worse shape, and he died, just like Marylin, camera, images can fool us! i'm not blaming anybody!

  • @xxChiQuiTitaxx73 The Misfits cameraman said that about MM the day before her collapse! The bloodshot eyes thing was an OPINION stated by Norman Mailer, not a fact, as his book was pretty much fact-free. Again, "Misfits" was always intended as a black and white film. MM did not object, as she had with "Hot" (Wilder had to show her that the men looked too overdone in their drag makeup, and she agreed.) She understood the mood of the "Misfits" would be ruined by color.

  • @xxChiQuiTitaxx73 THe cameraman said that about MM's eyes the day before her total collapse. The bloodshoot remark was and OPINION stated by Norman Mailer in his mostly fact-free book. MM always knew "Misfits" was going to be a black and white pic and did not object. She understood the mood of the film would be destroyed by color. I certainly know of her agonies on a set, and how difficult it was for her and everybody else. But this is just a spiteful tale, enlarged and exaggerated

  • @waif55 yes it was hard for her, but it's terrible hearing that he shoot it in b&w to hide the bloody eyes of Marylin, i know that! but yes it's not the ONLY reason, but Houston took advantage of shooting it in b&w cause Marylin was completely down and in b&w you can't really see the color of the skin, the deep in the eyes... but Miller wrote the story for her, to tell her his love, though the script was rewritten every time, she was fooled poor girl, she died less than one year after the film

  • @xxChiQuiTitaxx73 You just want to believe this, don't you? The film was in the works for years, it was always supposed to be in black and white---that was Houston's vision of the film. It had nothing to do with how MM looked! THat was speculation on the part of Norman Mailer. No member of the "Misfits" cast or crew ever said that! As for Mr. Miller's "love"--he turned out a terrible screenplay for her, and after her death, used her even worse, with his play "After the Fall."

  • @waif55 i just tell you what i heard from MM's biographies. Miller wrote the story for her, but he fooled her, like she said " i played Marylin, again Marylin, always marylin, i'm making a copy of myself" i 'm not believing anything, you're wrong, i'm just telling you what i heard! as for the bloodshot, it's just a metaphor to tell how in terrible shape she was!

it's from "Marylin, dernières séances" a famous french biography of her, i just quoted, i wasn't there at the time to prove you know

  • @xxChiQuiTitaxx73 You are correct, Norman Mailer used that sentence to give his opinion of how bad she might have looked---but nobody ever said it. But now an opinion becomes a fact. Just as a fantastic piece of fiction like "Marilyn Monroe Confidential" written by her maid who could not speak or understand English becomes fact. The facts were sad enough, I just hate when they are distorted. I understand you are not criticizing.

  • @waif55 yes you're right, opinions become facts! it's terrible! but yeah i'm 19 i love her, i wasn't there when she was at the top, i'm watching her stories on internet, i'm interseted about her life! it's hard to find biographies here in France, just like the one i told you, "dernieres séances" which is amazing

  • @flaminia5 yea i wondered tat 2. Maybe it was der movie budget

  • @evexx08 i doubt this, respectfully

  • Finally I found it here. Thanks a lot!
