I wish I could agree with you because so much more music would be appealing to me otherwise. I can't tell you how many progressive, technical, power metal, or djent bands had flawless instrumentation then the vocalist opened his mouth and ruined my experience. I've tried my best to move past my bias (I really have), but I still feel that certain styles would benefit from omitting the vocal track.
@psychopathtoine I had that too, I heard cafo and I was like "WTF is this shit???" but then I heard it again an half year later and it immediately became one of my favorite songs XD
3:30 - 4:12 is just beautiful. It is very reminiscent of BTBAM's more ethereal guitar solo work, but not to the extent that it is a copy. It is independently and uniquely beautiful, just like this entire genre of music. THANK YOU for sharing!
hey guys if you like music like this than you should check out this song me and my brother made. it's a home recording so it's not professional but it still sounds pretty decent. it has a prog/jazzy kind of sound to it and it's instrumental. type in "Michael Ramirez - Shifting Forms" and it will come up. check it out and tell him what you think!
The great playing and lack of vocals is why I like AAL. I listen to music for the pleasure of hearing music not to hear about someones political or religious beliefs. That and instrumental groups have to play better since they do not have someone singing to distract people from what the instruments being played are doing.
@falcoperegrinus82 I agree completely. I hum along to vocals like they are another instrument most of the time. I dislike that so much focus is put on them as if they can't be done without.
This guy is a prodigy, it doesn't make sense for him to make a jump from his old shitty band to this, he may say its just practice, thats BS, he was born with genius.
@witchiepunk TesseracT is much better live though x3 I'd rather hear them live than stereo... but yes AAL and BTBAM DOMINATED the stage/club/venue/night

I just started playing 1 month ago and it is my dream to play this good. I wonder how many hours a day and years of practice it will take to reach this level of perfection?
@turboboy68 Depends on so many factors that's it's impossible to say really. But what's important to keep in mind is that it can be done. I've been playing for 20 years on and off, I am not this good... but others could easily become this good in 2 or 3 years with the right teachers, routine and dedication. However, even not being this good, I find playing very rewarding and an important part of my life, so I'm confidant you'll get that out of it no matter what else. Peace!
@turboboy68 2 hours a day would not be too much. That's what I did with bass during 3-4 years, but I stopped working seriously as my bands didn't that technic. Of course I never reached to that point!^^
@CydoniaKnight1 Crimson as in King Crimson? If so, it would do anything but diminish his work. After all, King Crimson was pretty much the father band of Progressive music.
@yoe91 ????..........you know deaf people really shouldnt be allowed to judge music, I mean you have to be deaf otherwise youre bat shit crazy to even suggest Construktion (not destruktion) of light is even remotely the same. they sound nothing alike.
@IGNsucks the fact that you don't see how blatantly limited Abasi's song-writing chemistry is, and that you would possibly deny the huge copy/pasting from that Crimson album and call ME names for it is ridiculous. In fact.
@yoe91 Right apparently its a huge copy and paste effort from an album you couldnt even spell correctly.........go back to your bridge troll...........King Crimson is alright AT BEST......
@IGNsucks I haven't heard that album. But the similarities to King Crimson, Robert Fripp is obvious to me. I'm surprised more people aren't hearing it. It's obvious that King Crimson is a huge influence on Abasi.
@otakurocklee King Crimson fans say it sounds like King Crimson, Meshuggah fans say its sounds like Meshuggah, Dream Theater fans say it sounds like Dream Theater...........Ive fucking heard it all at this point. AAL sounds like AAL, the rest is just people imposing their own personal opinions on the music and hearing what they already thought it would sound like.
@yoe91 What are you talking about? Tosin Abasi is an amazing songwriter and guitarist, maybe you should just listen to some other songs also, for instance CAFO.
No musician in the whole world would want to rip someone else off, you just write what sounds right to you, and sometimes it happens that two riffs sound identical, but that's just that riff which is a very small part of a whole song.
@IAMinDreams The best thing to come out of Nirvana is Kurt Cobain's very public suicide. I just wish it would've happened before he made what he calls music, but I clearly interpret as nothing more than "noise."
