I don't quite understand Gale's point about sequels. It's generally accepted that the demand for sequels in/from Hollywood began after the successes of Jaws (1977) & Star Wars (1979). An array of critically and commercially successful sequels were released before Aliens (1986). All of which had "impact". Godfather Part II, Temple of Doom, Empire Strikes Back, Wrath of Khan, Rocky 2, Magnum Force, Sudden Impact, etc. I love Aliens but I think her point about sequels is moot
@arthuronfacebook Considering she was a movie producer who worked during the 80's I'm inclined to take her word for it. Certainly these days there are lot's and lot's of sequels to stuff.
@arthuronfacebook Oh really? In 1986 of the 174 movies with 1000 or more votes on imdb, only 6 are sequels. In 2011, of 159 movies, 19 are sequels. So sequels are about 3 and then some times more common today than when Aliens was made. Also, she said it was an anomaly for a movie to get a sequel. imdb lists over 3300 movies released in 1986. How many got sequels? Nothing she said is at all wrong or even debatable.
@PaperModeler475 Yeah, my first viewing was around the same age... back when they used to dub the swearing out of TV films (in the UK). I remember seeing it the first time I got hold of a rental VHS and was shocked by the amount of stuff that was cut from the film on the TV :D I wore out the recorded tape I had off the TV it was played so much, seriously at least once a week for years. Defo in my top 10 purely for the impact it had and the fact that I have literaly probably seen it 100 times
Now THIS is what I call a "behind the scenes" piece! Truly epic! Amazing to see the process these tremendous actors and insanely talented production team went through to create this high tech sci-fi masterpiece. Seriously, this is greats behind the scenes look on a film project that Ive ever seen. Thanks for posting
Watching this behind the scene document was almost as exciting as watching the movie itself.I haven't seen a SF movie which comes even close to the Aliens since 1986.Aliens is one of the movie you watch on DVD over and over and still discover some detail bits you never noticed before and on top of it still gives you a roller coaster ride effect.Greatest SF movie of all time.
This was a great documentary! James Cameron is one of the best directors, he is very creative, and his techniques are much beter then the CGI nowadays
Alien <3 <3 <3 .......

The IMAGERY of this movie is as close to hell and demons as this mortal world can get.
The movie "HELLRAISER" didn't even touch aliens. Best Sci Fi horror movie EVER MADE.

Sudden Impact was not a critical success at all.

Gale Hurd seems a little clueless when she talks about sequels in the 80's
