  • *Twiches* FIVE PEOPLE DON'T APPRECIATE AMAZING, EPICAITASTIC, AND THERE ARE NO MORE WORDS BEYOND EPICALITASTIC THAT CAN DISCRIBE THIS ANYWAY!!! THEY DON'T APPRECIATE MUSIC WHEN THEY HEAR IT!!!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THEM!!! *srry bout the caps*

  • I need to make out with Fiyero lol

  • Thank you for uploading this on my Birthday!

  • how could you unlike this?!

  • this song makes me tear up ):

  • me and my friends are singing this on graduation

  • I'm sitting here with gloves, a warm winter jacket, big boots and a scarf and yet I just got goosebumps through my entire body! that's what great voices do ! xD

  • What I wouldn't for these guys to do one more show just so I could see it....

  • Love this song! The 5 people who don't like this must have never lost a close friend.........

  • my friend mars has a voice that is perfect for Idina!

  • Where have i herd this song???? it sounds fimiluar

  • @winterkitty11 Glee: season 2. Rachel en Kurt do this duet

  • I sure wish my dad was here (he's in I.T.) I think my replay button is broken I've used it so much

  • There's always those few haters that just get you pissed and make you go, "Why the heck do they hate such GREAT songs?"

  • i think that 100,000 of those veiws were mine

  • Its so sad that I real life Kristin and Idina hate eachother........

  • @broadwaygodess630 WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • @tamarajoy06 no its just a rumor.

  • @broadwaygodess630 REALLY????

  • @broadwaygodess630 Not true the're best friends after the last show finished they clung onto each other for an hour crying i dont think you would do that to someone you dont like...

  • it looks like the wizard of oz, madame morrible, dorothy, and boq all have youtube acounts

  • @tamarajoy06 And Toto now too, apparently.

  • @RiverJace I know right???? The ending of the book is MORE confusing so I just went along with the musical one

  • Before, I simply said I liked this song.

I watched the musical a few days ago and when they sang this song, it was so touching I cried. Now I can say I love it because I fully understand the song, and what transpired during this time in Oz. :)

    Epic singers. :D

  • I cry whenever I hear this

  • <3

  • What I find is funny is I watched The Wizard of Oz then I read the books then I watched Wicked then I read the book... spoiler alert: THEY ALL END DIFFERENTLY! it's starting to drive me crazy...

  • you think glinda would be nicer to her in the wizard of oz, she said and i quote ",only bad witches are ugly,"

  • @dancerulesanduknowit She was playing a part...if she said anything positive about Elphaba, people would get suspicious.

  • @dancerulesanduknowit she was only pretending afterall she can't let any know that they were are friends

  • @dancerulesanduknowit wizard of oz and wicked are two different books/musicals. Wicked is just a re imagining of wizard of oz and was made many years after the first wizard of oz book was ever written and in wizard of oz there is no elphaba just the wicked witch so you really cant expect glinda to be nicer to her since she was just an evil witch in wizard of oz. Not being all anal about it just stating a point :D

  • I can't think of any greater pair than Idina and Kristen.

  • I NEED TO SEE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • my mom took my to see this for my birthday, best time i have ever had. loved it, loved it, loved it

  • best musical ever!!! <3

  • omygohs dejavu did this play yesturday

    1 word

    emotional

  • The harmony at 4:17 gives me chills, man. Idina's voice. ;-;

  • @MarryXMeXBuryXMe That's my favorite part!

  • When me and one of my friends were watching the wizard of oz, I was lecturing her the entire time about how the wizard of oz is a complete bastard and that Elphaba is just misunderstood. She probably thinks I'm retarded now, but whatever.

  • At my school, we sung this to the year 12's on their last assembly. :)

  • Dorthy is a murder.......

  • @awesomelyawesome58 Dorothy didn't really kill Elphaba.

  • i live 8 hours away from london and don't have the time or the money to go see the musical. my mums taken me twice now but i just miss it so much! i really wish they'd bring out a dvd of some sort

  • Every time I hear a Wizard of Oz referance I'm all like "Its all a lie!! Propaganda! LIES! EVIL!" Then people look at me wierd. -_-" Oh well, this play rocked. :3

  • Beautiful song. Makes me think of my best friends. xo

  • Anyone can tell me where I can download "The Wicked" and "The Wizard of Oz" ?

  • I finally get to see this musical in May! I just wish Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth were still Elphaba and Glinda!

  • @avadodgestaff I just saw this on Sunday and the current actors are really good

  • @avadodgestaff if your seeing it in NY,thanks to the OZsomeness of promo cups, you can take your soft drink you purchase at the bar into the theatre with you. Enjoy the show. it's FANTASTIC!

  • I always hated Dorothy and everyone and loved the Wicked Witch. now that I've seen the play, I feel so proud!

  • Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth: Broadway's Greatest Duo. Legends. Period. End of story

  • @byranntherockstar1 I don't I think Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff are pretty awesome too <3

  • This song really shows you that perspective is everything. I used to hate the wicked witch. Now I hate the Wizard of Oz and love the WICKED WITCH! Seems kinda backward. You always gotta look for the other side of the story.

  • God, this song...I'd dedicate it to all my friends..and my ex-friends. It makes me cry. They really did shape who I am.

  • My friend and I act and look just like (aside from being green) Glinda and Elphaba, and this is our song, and we cry every time we listen to it!

  • this is so beautiful :') x

  • I'm going to NY for the first time with my choir in March and we're going to a broadway musical, and we all want this to be the one!!! I thank God that Im getting such an awesome chance like this

  • Going to NYC next October & getting tickets to wicked for my birthday!!!!! couldn't be happier :D

  • my favorite song from the show (:

  • 4 people 'Are liiiiimited. They're liiiiimited.'

  • This song means SO much more to me after seeing the show for the first time two days ago. Literally makes me cry.

  • there should be a IN LOVE button!

  • This song reminds me of my bestfriend. we met freshman year and bestfriends ever since. im a senior now. i dont know how im going to leave him.

  • I'm singing both parts.

  • make me think about my friend ;w;

  • This + a quick yawn at the end = me letting out tears I tried to bottle up listening to this.

  • BEST. BROADWAY. SHOW. EVER.

  • I was crying watching this last night

  • Me and one of my friends sang this to our band teacher, Mrs. Alward, in 8th Grade...I was Elphaba and she was Glinda. I started crying during while singing, because I know one day, I might never see her again. </3

She is my second Mom, I love her so much.

  • I love this version and the Glee version. Too bad the musical for season 3 of Glee is West Side Story. I could totally see Rachel as Elphie and Kurt as... Guylinda lol :)

  • When i saw wicked and this song was done , i was close to tears

  • today is my friend anniversary with my friend. I feel like this song brings back many memories and makes me feel grateful to have her in my life. :)

  • I gave this song to my best friend before she moved to Australia. ='( I miss her so much.

  • :'( when she is singing that she's limited at the beggining made me cry. especially after defying gravity

  • This was me and my best friend in the entire world's song. Oddly enough, now I AM asking for her forgiveness, and we will probably never talk to each other again. All the times I've compared myself to Glinda, I never would have imagined I'd actually screw up and lose the greatest friend I've ever had. :P

  • this is me and my best friends friendship song

  • everytime i hear this song I just cry。 well,no shame XD

  • *sob* I'm dying inside!!!!! Merry style imploding explosion! *dies*

  • My best friend quoted this to me before she left for college. And I started balling.

  • @CallMeRiverton Really cuz I don't see it that way. All I see is two woman who have a great friendship. Not everything has to be that way.

  • Sorry Guys if you go on this video and It says VIDEO DISABLE HONK459 RUINED IT! Just blame meh for pressing reply 95 hours straight!!!:)

  • It's kinda funny to think that this is Kristin's low range. :)

  • The grade 11 at my school sang this to the grade 12 at grad and it was so touching!!!! i did not even know half the students and i was in tears!

  • This song makes me cry every time. When I go to see this on Broadway, I know I'll be sitting in the theater bawling my eyes out.

  • When they did this on Glee I almost cried. They used the actual stage, the ACTUAL set, where the ACTUAL stars of this musical once sang. This musical has changed me For Good. And captures a beautiful friendship :)

  • @MUSiiCxxLOVER You aren't the only one who cried :)

  • I love Glee but the glee version doesn't even compare to this

  • @KGBL98 I agree, but Chris Colfer is one of my idols, so I'm a bit biased lol

  • i used this in a video for a friend of mine when she moved away, she said she started crying and felt the same way i did

  • I could never sing this song, I would bawl my eyes out if I ever tried.

  • im guessing this is a duet?

  • You know, I never liked The Wizard of Oz. Now I have a reason. Poor Elphaba! Man, I could never sing this song. Not because I couldn't hit the notes, but because I'd be crying the whole song through. It's a sad song when you think about it. Glinda and Elphaba were like sisters, and they'll never see each other again! As a twin, that's really sad to think about.

  • @2RandomGirls: But Elphie is a TRAGIC being, as her true story originally had her conceived as the epitome of evil (as per the Baum book and slightly in the MGM film, which is ironic, given that Baum based both witches on his sufferagist mother-in-law Matilda & given that the MGM film was originally going to have a glamorous witch played by Gale Sanderguard, which was nixed in favor of the "ugly" portrayal by Margaret Hamilton), but Wicked skewers that idea by turning it upside-down.

  • @TherealRNO I'm not trying to start an argument here, but I don't understand whether you're agreeing with me or trying to tell me something to change my mind. I guess what I'm saying is, I don't really understand what your comment means. If it's true you were trying to make me see her in a different light, or maybe even understand her character more, I'm open to it, so could you try to rephrase it?

  • @2RandomGirls: Okay. Lemme break it down. Elphaba as we know her from Wicked is taken, in both appearance and personality, from the Margaret Hamilton portrayal of The Wicked Witch in the 1939 MGM film classic, as far as the Maguire novel is concerned.

    *continued in next post*

  • @2RandomGirls: The musical by Schwartz just has beautiful actresses try & portray a tragic character, Compare Elphaba to Juliet and Fiyero as Romeo. In the 90's, we got a Romeo & Juliet movie that gave the two a happy ending when their story was originally a tragedy written by Shakespeare years ago. The musical of Wicked gave tragic Elphaba and Fiyero a happy ending as the un-melted witch and the re-incarnated scarecrow, when the actual novel has both characters die tragically.

  • @2RandomGirls: Furthermore, Baum originally based both Glinda and The Wicked Witch of the West on the SAME person, his noted sufferagist mother-in-law, Matilda Gage. At home, Matilda was queen-like and serene, not unlike Glinda, but when voicing her cause, her jutting chin, intense stare, and perchant for black clothes gave us the future *Elphaba*.

  • @2RandomGirls: So really, Elphaba voicing Animal rights in Wicked is not so different than Matilda voicing rights for women in real life!

  • @2RandomGirls: The MGM was originally going to have a glamorous witch that was to be played by Gale Sandergaard, but when execs complained that "bad witches are ugly" (though they used a POOR example, since the crooked crone at the end of Snow White--the very movie by Disney that inspired the MGM take on Oz--and the beautifully wicked queen are the SAME character), we got Margaret Hamilton in the role (on-set, Maggie even acknowledge her own lack of beauty in comparison to Judy & Billie).

  • @2RandomGirls: So, since the MGM was initially going to have a beautifully wicked witch, Elphaba turning out beautiful in Wicked is also not so surprising in and of itself, either.

  • I was very moved by this scene when I saw it last Sunday. Very good experience.

    First time seeing it, too.

  • over 100.000 people have seen this. And only 333 people had the time to like it :I

  • @sko12342 I'm probably 50,000 views by myself... But I can only like it once. So your facts are wrong. It's not always 100,000 people, its 100,000 views.

  • One line that really touches me is "You'll be with me like a handprint in my heart"

  • This play has made me grown to hate, The Wizard of Oz... for killing off Elphaba ... its a shame. This play has you grow to love her, and then they rip her away. My friends say its just a play, but it gets to me.

  • @ISingForYou3 uhhh if you actually saw the play you know she doesnt actually die at the end

  • @ISingForYou3 I know how you feel, i cant help when i watch the wizard of oz i just yell GO ELPHIE!! And yes it does get to you.....

  • I watched this with my drama class yesterday and I tried not to cry during this part becuz of my frens next to me

  • @jasmine0813 I know! I saw it...and this time Elphaba took glinda's hand and put it on her heart, and they were actually crying...made me cry a little too...no matter how much i listen ot this...seeing it live always makes me tear up

  • I actually saw this on Broadway. Nothing compares to it. It's so amazing! =D

  • I can't even think about this song without crying.

  • 2 people ... *insert 'witty', overused phrase here*.

    Seriously, just enjoy the song!

  • *bawls like a baby* this song is magic!

  • I hope Andrew Loyd Weber's Wizard Of Oz takes this into account. It's so beautiful! If it doesn't, it's not worth watching.

  • I cried at this song when watching it on stage....

  • I'm playing Elphaba, and I have to sing this song with the girl who plays Glinda, and I always end up crying.. <3

  • Two people are limited.

  • and no, my hand didnt slip

  • One person wasn't changed for the better. This is so beautiful.

  • I'm tearing up....this is so beautiful.

  • this song was played in my friend's funeral. watching the slides of her life and hearing this song...BEAUTIFUL. i cry every single time i listen. :')

  • I have recently heard a friend of mine sing defiying gravity and popular, and have become completely obessed! I only wish i could see the show, but i don't think ill ever have the chance

  • I love this song!!! One person has no heart!!!!!!

  • words cannot descibe how beautiful this song is. i love Wicked.

  • this story is so frigging cute!

  • I've been playing the Wicked soundtrack in the car lately, because a) I love it and b) I'm trying to get my mom to love it too so she'd take me to see it. She's liked it so far, but once it got to the end of this song, she was misty-eyed and said "That gave me chills... I have to go see this now, too." :D

  • This song is brilliant and beautiful.

. . .One person is about to be tracked down and have their ass kicked . . .

  • This song sums up perfectly what it's like to have a best friend. I'm so moved by it and I can't help but think of the bonds I've made with those who I know I'll never lose and of new friends that I know I want to keep forever.

  • i sang this song with my friend and then he was killed in an accident, love and miss u!!!!!

  • Someone cried so hard they clicked the wrong button.

  • My exchange student from Germany sang this in German in front of everyone at the goodbye party just before they left. And she wrote in my memory book to go listen to "for good" by wicked, because it was the english version of the song she sang. She said she sang it for me. And I spent nearly half an hour crying when I finally got to listen to it, and its been on repeat ever since <3 love you Lisa, you were the best. see you in June :)

  • okay, who was the idiot who clicked the dislike button?

  • @fhockeyrockstar25 let us hope whoever it was...it was an accident.

  • Missoula Children's Theatre performing arts campers sing this at the end of every camp show every summer. I was a camper before this show came out, but my sister got to be a part of this wonderful tradition the camp has. Makes me tear up and think of such wonderful friends that have changed me that I will never forget!

  • 4:07 to 4:23

  • sam tsui and nick pitera's version is awesome

  • I tear up everytime I see the showw and hear this song but I almost let it out at the l;ast show in San Francisco. how the hell I managed to hold back the tears i have no clue

  • I marched with the Colt Cadets this summer and this was our ballad. At finals in Indy for season wrap up, the corps played this song and we all cried. It was so emotional! :/

  • My best friend and I sing this to each other. We go to different colleges now, and we still talk when we can. We met our freshman year of high school. I'm Elphie and she is Glinda; we have both changed so much, but only because of each other. I love her so much. :) Wicked is bar far the best musical ever. I love you Laura <3

  • We sang this song at Theatre Camp and it just so happened that a few days later one of the campers moved to Scotland.

  • this song makes me happy and sad because me and my friend sang this song in are show

  • This song brings tears everytime. :'] its soooo amazing<3

  • this was song by a huge chorus of counselors at my camp, they did an amazing job, but it was ridiculously sad

  • I will say that Wicked is the best musical I've ever seen and nothing can be compared to it, such as: Hairspray, Avenue Q, or In the heights.

  • These 2 girls sang this on 'tonight's the night' in memory of their friend who died of lukemia :'( It was so sad!

  • I love this song so much! The emotion between Kristin and Idina is beautiful!!

  • This song makes me think of a girl I was friends with for quite a few years; we met in seventh grade after I moved to town and she was one of the first people to become my friend. We were great friends up until the end of this year, and then everything changed. She doesn't speak to me or acknowledge my existence. Still, because I knew her, I have been changed both for good and for the better.

  • last night my director sang this song.....it was her last show....

  • Like a comet pulled from orbit.... such lovely lrics

  • wicked = one of the greatest musicals out there

  • *sobs* s-s-s-so b-beautiful... Waaaaaa!!! *sniffle*

  • My most favorite Wicked song. NO ONE tops Chenzel.

  • @jasmine0813 same here. It's so incredibly powerful... <3
