  • Hay how much did you pay for the and where did you get it from??

  • Nice watch man!

  • Looks HUGE on your hand. Almost like you're wearing a wall clock. Small people + big watches = bad combination.

  • Overpriced junk.

...oh wait, wearing a Pro myself. ;-) Enjoy!

  • While on a mini-vacation some friends and I walked in a jewelry store, and one of the dealers there was trying to sale me the very same type of watch. I considered it, as I do not own a manual wind.

  • 30 years later he found out its made in china :)

  • it's like my speedmaster! 50th anniversary!!! :P

  • I am jelous

  • Really Nice Watch! BTW Change your battery on your fire alarm!:-)

  • now i get it... Omega has 2 versions of Speedmaster Pro.. one is Speedmaster 50th Anniversary WITH Moon watch patch (to celebrate Speedmaster invention 1957)... the other one is Speedmaster Moon Watch 40th Anniversary (to celebrate Apollo 11 moon landing 1969)..

  • I know watches are meant to be worn but limited edition iconic watches made to celebrate a particular watch, in this case the Omega Speedmaster should be kept in mint unworn condition.

If you must have a Speedmaster buy a good secondhand one.

My 50th anniversary Coaxial model ie the one in the fabulous box with tools has already increased in value and will no doubt retain its value as its a ltd edition and therefore a saught after rarity.

Keep it in the box and admire it.

  • I wear my Omega 50th Anniversary SM watch everyday.

  • I agree a watch is made to be worn but if you purchased your 50th anniversary Speedmaster with the thought of retaining its long term investment value then keeping it in unworn condition with all paperwork and boxes.

Collectors and dealers alike only go for the watches that are totally mint and in unworn condition.

Really you should have bought a standard Speedmaster and worn that.

I will never wear my 50th Speedmaster no 1564 of 1957 made.

  • If a 1 million dollar watch can be worn, then a 50th SM can be worn.

  • You are obviously not a collector like myself.

Limited Edition Speedmasters are aimed squarely at the collectors market and it is foolish for the average person to purchase one to be worn on a daily basis.

This is why Omega still produce the original standard Speedmaster so that the public can own the original NASA issue watch.

  • I can tell you my D3x is twice the price of a 50th Anni SM Pro and my 200-400 about the same price of that watch. I still use all of them almost every day.

Heck i drive my Porsche everyday unless its winter.

Theirs nothing wrong in collecting watches, but i don't tell you that you MUST wear them, so please keep YOUR opinions and believes to YOURSELF.

The reason i bought the 50th anni pro version over the other one is simply because i found it more atheistically pleasing.

  • @shadowblack1987

You seem to be missing the whole point of my arguement.

As a collector of watches i buy limited edition models to hopefully make a profit when i sellthem t on in the future.

I think a profit of £17,000 i made on a Rolex Explorer Orange Hand i purchased new in 1979 for £545 makes my point.

If i wanted a Speedmaster to wear i would buy the standard model.

If you were a watch collector as i have been for over thirty years you would understand.

  • So you collect for profit and not for pleasure?

I buy for pleasure and not for profit. The regular SM didn't do it for me.

I work for profit as a professional photographer in New York and Montreal.

  • Not always.

I purchased my 50th Anniversary Coaxial Speedmaster because it's only the third Ltd edition watch Omega have released with an enamel face.

Producing a watch with an enamel face takes months of hardwork and preperation unlike a normal steel dial.

You must agree that presentation box and tool kit is very special TOO GOOD TO PART WITH.

I collect sell and occasionally swap one watch for another but all watches i buy are bought for their beauty and rarity.

    Have a good Xmas

  • You make a poor point.

    Have a good holiday.

  • You come across as contradictory and arrogant. There is nothing foolish about owning and wearing any watch even it's not what you'd do with it yourself.

  • Im sorry if my message appears arrogant but that certainly was not my intention.

What i was trying to explain is that when manufacturers relase a Ltd edition watch which happens very rarely it is not a wise purchase by the general public to buy them simply because there is a huge price premium over the standard watch.

The Speedmaster is a great example.

Why pay double the price when the standard watch is just as fine.

Collectors buy them because their rare and pay accordingly.

  • I have always liked nice watches and was informed by Omega in 2005 that they had plans for a very special Speedmaster to celebrate 50 yrs of the watch.

I placed an order with my local Goldsmiths that when this anniversary watch became available i would like to purchase one.

I paid for the watch over a two year period because i certainly didnot have £5250 in my bank account.

I finished paying on 20 July 2009 the 40th anniversary of the Moonlanding.

Im sorry if i appeared arrogant.

  • you need to change the battery in your smoke detector. (chirp)

  • Your smoke detector is running low on batteries. Nice watch.

  • that watch is awesome!

  • could anyone tell me a good price to pay for a new and used speedmaster?

  • Sign up to a watch collectors forum, dont take advice from people on youtube! lol.

  • do you know of any good ones?

  • around 3 grand...

  • new: $3200 in an authorized dealer, $2400 in a gray market, used $ 1500

  • For that price I would buy used. Obviously from an official dealer, obviously!

  • Condition and particular model are all important.

Go to one of the respected dealers who only sell watches in perfect condition with all paperwork and boxes.

The price you will pay will depend on the model of Speedmaster.

Limited Editions will usually command more money due to their limited numbers but unless the watch is new ensure it comes with all documentationand boxes.

Any Speedmaster in unworn condition complete will command a good price.

    Hope my words were helpfull.

  • Congratulations on a wonderful watch. Yeah it looks great on your wrist. The Speedy is an iconic watch.

  • just got the watch. it is sweet. wife doesn't like the price, but in 30 years it will more than have paid for itself. sapphire is the way to go. rolex can go screw.

  • @ebrooks005 the hell with the wife. Man up.

  • @ebrooks005 in 30 years, nobody's wearing a watch

  • @ebrooks005 screw wife and screw rolex

  • how many watches do you own?

  • nice watch. i'm going to get the sapphire edition though with the skeleton back. was torn between the omega and a brietling, this video helped make my mind up thanks.

  • i own a omega speedmaster pro. the first watch on the moon. and its a manual winding watch. it has a very low power reserve. so you need to wind it often. it works like anything from that era. very mechanical. its still one of my favorite watches.

  • WOW It is a very nice watch, I own a moon that my wife got me as a weeding gift but is magnet to scratches it is too bad, becuase of the Hesalite sucks real bad, I even call Omega and I try to convince them to replace for cristal not a chance they told me, legal issues associated with liability in case If I decide to go to the space, they have a good point.

  • scratches on that type of glass are not a big deal cause they can easily be polished out... the fact is that you got given the watch and did not buy it for yourself. Having said that it's just common sense that those things would bother you and that you would fail to love and appreciate what this watch is all about. I would kill to get such a historic piece from Ω but atm i'm after some other watches ;) In time though i will for sure get myself one :)

  • I've heard that all you need to do to buff out scratches is to use a polish such as Brasso, and that should bring the crystal back to its original state. Try it out.

  • Nah, keep away from polishes like Brasso, they can hurt the bezel insert, it's best to take it to a jeweler where they can use special polishing compounds designed for crystals.

  • I own this watch to and have to say the only reason I decided to go for the LE 50th Anni Edi. was that it is the only "Moon" Speedy with a Saphire Crystal instead of the Hesalite...then again i think the Gold Seahorse "Patch" is what makes this watch ;) good choice AC

  • how big is ur wrist? It looks like a nice size...a little on the biger side for a speedmaster. 42mm?

  • Interesting concept, but it would have been helpful if you held the watch still or laid it down so we could see it ticking. Too much movement. Good intentions though.

  • AC amazing watches... congrats in you great collection, not everybody appreciate these things. I want to own some nice watches as well but I have to wait a little more. For now I am enjoying my Invicta Pro Diver Automatic.

  • So cool.

I just received the non LE Moonwatch. Had it for one week now. Looks great, keeps great time down to the second too. Looking at it now it's -2 seconds over one week.

  • I like your video too. Shame you couldn't get a focus shot of the dial. Wanted to see the LE.

  • Yes this watch is perfect!

  • Very Nice!
