So.. what's the use for such a powerful engine on a semi when weight is limited on roadways? For the majority of applications 450-550HP would be suitable. I can think of a few applications where 800HP could be useful, but over 3000? lol I like diesel engines but I also don't like overkill.

@drgrcrp301 a diesel engine is not controlled by throttle position. it is controlled by the amount of fuel dumped in. this forces the engine to scavenge air to compensate. a few newer diesel engines dont even have throttle blades. when you hit the pedal you just dump fuel in and the detonation driven combustion does the rest
