IT IS A MASTERPIECE! THIS 4 of july I posted this song for my FB friends. one of the GREATEST American films ever. Directed by one of the GEATEST American directors who ever lived and sung by a GREAT American Lady! Barbra Harris HIT IT BIG back on Broadway when she originated the role of 'Daisy' in ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER (Before Striesand 'Barbraized it)

The country music "industry" was a bit upset by this movie. Of course almost all of those people have since passed. Nowadays country music is just rock n roll with a twang anyway.
@dan564891 you are a good bloke, refreshing comments, i would love to see that. britain today is political correctness gone mad. e.g if you think immigration has been too much you are branded a 'bigot'.
@dan564891 you know your altman, i haven't seen either although i've heard about the latter with elliot gould. good to see you're a fan of the classics, be sure not to vote labour on thursday
a film on superficiality and hypocrisy of the american people.. it reminds me some depression felt watching "american beauty" and "magnolia". anyway, for how is created, i think it's something near a masterpiece.
I really appreciated how you touched on all of the characters that comprise the ensemble.
Altman's film remains, to me, the greatest example of cinematic Impressionism (it's not really made up of multiple overlapping stories -- Lucas' American Graffiti and Altman's own later film Short Cuts did that better -- but he just touched on every right moment for each character and you caught that.
Would love to see your take on his original MASH (with Suicide is Painless) and The Long Goodbye.
Movie stars are lucky. Not only do they become immortalized with their work, but they also get a thousand chances to reel you in. Barbara Harris in this movie Nashville wows me and how! She's everything a country star could be and more. She is a star. Now she's reeled me in and I'm staying. The crowd shots are like better documentation of how the world looked in 1975 than my own family albums
A splendid editing work. Thanks. I've just watched Nashville, for the very first time. I'm an admirer of R. Altman, but this movie in particular makes me think of him as one of the irreplaceable ones. thanks again.
GREAT one of my fav movies ever, love Karen Black, Shelley Duvall, Barbara Harris, Keith Carradine and his oscar winner 's song I'm easy, great soundtrack too, it's an allegoric vision of american politics's world ( not only american....)5 stars!
It was aired two nights ago here in UK - 30 years on it is still brutal and right - Everybody thought that the South's time was over but Altman's was saying - America is the South - When they killed the Kennedy's it opened the way for Texas's 30 year rule.
That is interesting. Was the end of Altman's film depicting an attempt to turn the tables? The guy with the glasses was evidently from Ohio -- technically a northeastern state, east of the Mississippi and north of Mason/Dixon. Actually, your interpretation is pretty chilling.
No I don't think that's true the guy from Ohio - the assassin is Mark Chapman before Mark Chapman he does not produce the same political effect as Sirhan Sirhan. The - and the south just carries on regardless in the words of the songe: "You may say I ani't free but it don't worry me" - that is sung throughout the movie.
America lost something truly special with the death of the Kennedy's. President Obama wants to bring back their vision and enlarge it - lets see if he can.
you and craigcraig1427 do the best film tributes on the internet I always look forward to your videos, you are very talented!...thank you Paul for everything you do!
terrigarrsguy is actually craigcraig1427 - they're one and the same person! Boy, Craig, are you an embarrassment to yourself! What a shameless louse! SHAMELESS! People should check out how he says he's "blinded" by his own "brilliance" on his new channel wreckingballprod. Anyone who cares about film should write this fool and expose him.
Although already regarded as one of the best films of the 70s, I'm not sure many know HOW good this film is. The first time I saw it I didn't get it. I've now seen it several times - and every time I react differently, sometimes with laughter, and yes, sometimes with tears (if you know the psychological state of America at the time the tears make sense). It's actually pretty appropriate for today, esp. during the recent primaries.
You did an AMAZING job of capturing all the best images of the movie...it's like a mini movie in one!!! Awesome!
