The Daydream tour was tiresome; she had been singing for years outside her comfortable range, with incredible belts; she got married, thus, more free to do what she wanted (she probably took some alcohol in here, which damage the voice); no rest; nodules getting bigger; working day and night... -> these are fact.
Some say she had undergone a surgery during this period, to remove her nodules, and that changes the voice aswell. -> not proven

This was the best performance of this song for me. She changed it up and made it different than the studio and didn't harmonize too much with the back up singers. This song is magical and with the imperfect improv she did throughout the performance, it was spectacular.

I really miss this Mariah. I felt like she was so superb then, and much more genuine than what she is now. Nowadays, I feel like she is stuck in that "I am the diva, and I am making a comeback" mode. In my eyes Mariah Carey is GODS gift to music and song n anyone who loves to sing with all their hearts. She weither or not she writes her own lyrics she can sign and her voice is amazing. If I was able to meet 1 person passed away or still with us it would be Mariah. HANDS DOWN. I wouldn't even think about the other person. I think what changed was the times in music period. Her desire to stay relevant and transient is more powerful then her desire to write "deep" songs. Music today that is big and successful is music that has no meaning . That is why I feel that her music at least still has a music, even though it might not be as "deep" as her former music.

So what if she is do uknow her whole story? She endured a lot and her bad choices put Mariah on the right path. Everybody says she was a teen mom, & drug-fiend hooker. But no1 mentions the countless racism she endured, cars blown up, dogs poisoned, getting beat up every day after school, she also claim to have been molested by a family member & one of her school teachers. That's more than enough to drive you to drugs and sex, not excusing her actions u shouldn't judge u haven't walked her shoes.

I know what her background is. I wrote she's Latina to me because term "mixed race" doesn't say much person's appearance. For example, Uzbek ppl are mixed race too and they don't look similar to Mariah :)
On the contrary, word "latina" immediately brings to my mind Mariah-look.

I agree. Mariah is Latina. no matter what she says. There's no such thing as I'm half white and hispanic.. Cause Hispanic/Latino is A very mixed mixed ethniq group. I mean, if her father was half Spaniard/spanish then her father would be half white and black.. but theres lots of blacks in Venezuela and many Native Venezuelans(native american)

Mariah had a Southern Black American Grandmother, her dad was not from Venezuela but his father was, she found out her Great grandmother was Venezuelan and her Great grandfather was unknown so that's probably why. She sis say in Latina magazine she could be Latino once do to their mix heritage. But Latino is not a race it just means you're from Latin America, look it up

I really miss this Mariah. I felt like she was so superb then, and much more genuine than what she is now. Nowadays, I feel like she is stuck in that "I am the diva, and I am making a comeback" mode. She is more concerned with looking sexy and having a nice body than taking care of her voice...which sadly she is losing in my opinion. I feel bad for her really, I think she's lost her damn mind..

Her vocals are damaged fool. It has nothing to do with her not taking care of it. She didn't take care of it by trying to sing like a opera star all the time for 10 straight years. Now her voice is diminishing as they all do over time. She is getting older, not younger.

Celine and Teena do not sound the same. Whitney, Aretha, Gladys, Anita Baker, the list goes on and on you listen to debut and recent tracks and they all have suffer voice change and weakness. Christina Aguilera is starting to lose hers already, same age as Mariah was when she cracked. 27 It happens and Christina was told back in 2000 that she wouldn't be singing for long if she continue to sing crazy on tour. Celine lost her voice at 22 and stop talking to preserve it

In my eyes Mariah Carey is GODS gift to music and song n anyone who loves to sing with all their hearts. She weither or not she writes her own lyrics she can sign and her voice is amazing. If I was able to meet 1 person passed away or still with us it would be Mariah. HANDS DOWN. I wouldn't even think about the other person. I think what changed was the times in music period. Her desire to stay relevant and transient is more powerful then her desire to write "deep" songs. Music today that is big and successful is music that has no meaning . That is why I feel that her music at least still has a music, even though it might not be as "deep" as her former music.
