sorry if i sound dumb, but is Granny Smith Apples a store where they sell raw mangoes or are you suggesting substituting the mangoes with Green Smith Apples ? thanks for enlightening me and my viewers in advance .. :-)
oops ! sorry, i hadn't noticed such a serious omission.. the volume of the salt is usually equal to the volume of red chilli powder..a little more or less depending the saltiness of the salt ( as yoou know, some salts are more salty than others ! ) thanks for pointing out .. cheers ! :-)
This looks just wonderful but raw mango is very difficult for me to come by. I have some dried ones. Do you think I might get good results if I re-constitute these and use them with this recipe?
i havn't heard of raw dried mangoes, and cant even try it out because we dont get dried mangoes here.. one thing i would be encouraged by would be, if the reconstituted mango is real real sour, then its worth trying ...maybe it will work out ...btw, have you tried it out in some indian grocery store there ? its a seasonal fruit and the best time in india to buy them is in may each year ...i really wish i could help with some information here, ... do let me know if you try with dried ones ...:-)
Thanks Oldernwiser. I just tasted the dried mangoes and they have been dried from sweet ripe mangoes I think. I'm not near any Indian shops unfortunately. I have amchoor powder(mango powder which tastes very sour. I'll experiment a bit and let you know how it goes.
thanks
