  • Regarding the ending vamp for the last 1:45, that is the smoothest most gorgeous piece of sonic bliss. Damn..

  • Why haven't more people allowed their ears this sonic candy? Truly beautiful and shows how clever Green Gartside was and......is!

  • The 'single' that never was... one of Green's masterpeices - the guy is a GENIUS!.

  • That ending coda...Green Gartside, man, evrything you touch is gold. But this is just astral.

  • Bring back Gamson & Maher.

  • great ipod song for walking my gorgeous boxer dog along the river path, beautiful spring weather its almost spiritual when that instrumental end glides in

  • @rudyprotrudy08: The instrumental in the beginning and the instrumental part starting at 4:20, makes me feel to slow-dance, holding someone close to me... Eyes closed, intense, in a large room, lit by candles, looking out to the sea. Playing this over and over again... Want to hold me and slow dance with me?

  • @tadtravis: Compliments! You couldn't have said it better! Maybe someone can make a loop of the beginning and end instrumental part? Maybe for an hour long, over and over... Scritti Politti still is quality and will never sound like some awkward 80's band. Hearing their songs again, brings back such great memories, when I was 20 years young. Happyness, romance, freedom and all their songs playing in my car, while cruising in the USA.. Ah, bring back the 80's!

  • Always wondered: is this song about George Michael?

  • This song is pure genius, i think if claude debussy lived today he would sound like this....

  • Simply sublime! Gorgeous ending.

  • I'm going to say more on this one. This is another example of how wonderful Green Gartside is as a songwriter and a crafter of moods and sounds. This is beautiful and tragic altogether and deeply melancholy.

  • This entire CD is stunning.

  • Green's best song by far. Wistful and mysterious, it just effortlessly builds and builds. The atmosphere and lyrics kind of remind me of Thomas Dolby's 'Screen Kiss', which also juxtaposes London with Hollywood.

  • @fonzithornton Screen Kiss is one of my favourite songs. Scritti Politti and Thomas Dolby are two of my very favourite artists. They were my eighties.

  • @SacredandBound Mine too! And Japan, Prefab Sprout, The Associates... good times!

  • i like the way the song answers no questions, leaves everything to the imagination and so does the video.

  • such an amazing tune.

  • killer song

  • oh that was such a nice comment tadtravis, yeah its dreamily lovely, almost hypnotic!!

  • the end instrumental ends TOO soon....sometimes I wish it would just go on and on and on.....it just makes you feel good...content....peaceful.....longing to hold someone special

  • well said tadtravis...here here

  • @tadtravis Mmmmm, that sounds lovely. You can hold me if you want!

  • to me it sounds like,a comparison, london or america, its wonderful to be here, whatever, its beautiful anyway

  • this song is out of this world, and one of the very best I've ever heard!!!! Such mysterious lyrics, which are always the best sort, but what it suggests to me, is that someone has been flirting with death, and actually has died, and that someone else who's somehow involved with them, is picking up on the absolute rapture, bliss and peace of their experience of, dying - the ongoing process of it.

  • yeah mistymary, just bought it,it came the other day, beautifil, and also i just got white bread black bear and provision and yes anhomie &bonhomie.oh its all good,

  • hi Scritti Sparkle, it's Anomie and Bonhomie, (have I spelt that right? hopefully)

  • most ethereal masterpiece; and nice that it sounds a bit nasty deep down, as that makes it feel nice and morbid, ooh yes! Green is channelling an angel

  • through this i bought 3 albums i missed,was a poor teenager lol.what a beautiful song about amerca,so profound,in such a way. makes you think,if you go deep,in your head,what the hell am i doing here.dunno ,maybe im gaga

  • Highbury Fields is a little park area behind Highbury Corner in Islington, London.
