It is probably more cost effective to rescue and treat the dog than it would be to let it die and train a new one. I'm sure if it was easier to just buy a new one (as it were) they wouldn't bother with fixing up this little chappy...
Handlers love their dogs, they have to, they spend time building a relationship with them to work with them! the case its even greater with Arms & explosive / drug search & vehicle search dogs. They get a better life than many dogs in the civillian world & they enjoy working, stimulates the mind. Notice that when the dog is taken ill, he's given a casualty status & a MERT is called, same as for a human casualty. hes then flown by chinhook to a fully equiped vetenerian. :-)
@Anet000 yes ok the dog got injured but think about it this way. he could be a dog that just sits around all day and gets bored or he could be a mwd like he is and get to play ball everyday work for his ball and have a great life. a dog could swallow some bleach at home and have the same affect.
oh my! are you kidding?? dont u wana say that dog who die in war is a hero dog!!! if dog swallow poison its bad accident but nobody forced him to do that but if dog dies in war, thats bcs he had no choise! everybody knows about guns and weapons tested on animals and why?? you know why, dont you..what are these little guys in army playing to be? they think they are heros? they protect the rest of the world against danger? hahahaha its all one big fake
@Anet000 correction working dogs want to work. they want to go out and find stuff. thats what they enjoy doing. yes they might not know exactly what it is that they are finding but thats what they love to do. and guns and weapons are not tested on animals you thick piece of shit. they use ballistic materials. and no i'm not some war maniac. i'm actually a drug and explosive detection dog trainer. i train the dogs that go out to places like that. and no i rarely play video games they bore me.
@survivalkid2452 oh, i just checked your prof...you are lil sniper kid just 16 yrs old...playing...you and profi dog trainer? maybe in your dream...now, i will not waste my time with you, im adult woman and i definitely wont let some lil bastard call me thick piece of turd...weapons have been tested on animals, expecially on pigs, get some facts, you know nothing just play with your toy guns and then go to army so your dream can come true...obviously
@Anet000 like i said i know animals have been tested on but in your original comment you were not on about any labatory testing.and yes i am a dog trainer im a part time worker for acrosec specialist security look them up. yes my past time is airsoft which is something i enjoy.yes i can call you thick because every comment that i make you ignore and post more blab. read what i say and act from that. im not here to argue just here to inform you that WORKING dogs enjoy there lifes
@survivalkid2452 they test effects of nuclear and biochemical weapons on animals, but bcs it happens "secretly" nobody knows how many animals are killed, this is the reality and not game and the animals suffer greatly
wtf that dog was a house dog! "go Lassie go kill that guy with a gun". how useless, perhaps if he was a bomb sniffer, but still he's a dog, and we are humens, we should fight are own battles instead of using little puppy dogs as weapons. Dogs put all thier trust in us, and we get them killed. What a caring, loving race we are. Poor Toby, he just doesn't know his owner is using him.
@kidandkat, I agree with you. I am opposed to using animals as pawns in our silly wars over oil and minerals.
When the Vietnam War ended, the U.S. military classified 4,000 German Shepherd dogs as surplus equipment to be left behind during evacuation, abandoning these hero war dogs with the Koreans, who just happen to eat dogs. Some thanks, huh?
@kidandkat i understand your point. but think about what we do to animals. we destroy their homes, their families, their lives, all for our pleasure and own comfort. we sacrifice their lives so we can test science on them for US. we farm them like products and then slaughter them on a massive scale, for US. if you cared about animals you would be disturbed by everything else we did to them, and not specifically pick using them in military (again, to face danger in place of US)
@StopFlaggingVideos i am greatly disturbed by everything else we do to them, actually. not just military use, but everything else you mentioned. i believe that animals were not put on this earth for our own selfish use.
@kidandkat alright, i can respect that then. i have a bad taste in my mouth for pro-animal rights a lot of the time because of stuff like PETA making a huge deal about Mario having a fur character upgrade. it doesnt imply he killed and skinned an animal, its just a powerup in the game...but they were crying about that instead of all the animals he kills ever since game 1
I'm pretty sure dogs fucking love being in the Army. Constantly being challenged and given interesting things to do.

What with all the dumb ass comments, animals have been used in wars for millions of years, they save are troops for IED's.

Wars between humans should not involve animals. However, that dog probably has it better than most dogs in the world.
