HE INSPIRES ME BEYOND MEASURE, HE AWAKENS IN ME THE GREATNESS THAT AM DESTINED TO BE, I HAVE DREAMS TOO GREAT BEYOND WHAT WORDS CAN EXPLAIN, HIS LEGEND HAS TAUGHT ME 1 WORTHY LESSON, THINK BOLD, ACT BOLD AND FORTUNE WILL FAVOUR YOU. NEVER FEAR TO PURSUE WHAT YOU DESIRE TO ACHIEVE, I KNOW IN MY HEART AM DESTINED TO BE SO GREAT, AND AMAZINGLY GREAT I WILL BE, TO MAKE THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE.
I find it funny that people can call this man 'great'. All he ever did was destroy other nations. He was a murderer and a savage, he does not deserve all the glory that history has granted him. Fucking barbarian.
@undergroundalcoholsi He tried to combine cultures, he tried never to destroy the nacions he conquered, thats why hes generals were starting to go against im, he mixed Idian, Persian, Egypcian and greek cultures, he even made citys and tried to unite the world so he did not destroy other nations, he respected them, but he tried combine with it with the greek way.
@undergroundalcoholsi Number one he was not a barbarian, he conquored nations and civilisations but never destroyed them. He incorporated then into his empire. He had a vision for unification of the world under one leader. He was brilliant general and history remembers him as such for eternity.
@Ouija121085 'Incorporated them into his empire' = destruction of a nation's sovereignty. Just ask the peoples of Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Australia. Not to mention hundreds of others. There's no difference between what he did and what the 'barbaric' tribes of the world were doing. History is written by the victors, and sugarcoated.
@undergroundalcoholsi Yes history is written by the victors, and yet he did not invade ireland, nor scotland, nor australia nor north america! He expanded greek culture and way of life outside the borders of greece that way ensuring the survival of Greece/Macedonia itself. As opposite to what english did to scots and irish, and indians, australian aboriginies which were blatant genocides! Alexander kept the conquored culture intact keeping its idenitity and prosperity.
@undergroundalcoholsi This is the reason why he is the most loved conqueror in history of man kind. He was not insulent, egocentric, savage like hitler, napoleon, or spanish or english crowns. He built the world he conquered, borught scribes, technology, medicine, writings, law, and also inturn he adopted useful things from the nations and civilisations he had conquored. There will never be anyone like him again.
this speech was jus the f*cking greatest>>i jus love his facial expression when he sez "because you've fallen in love with all this things in life that destroy men" =)
Where are those men? Now there are homosexuals, and all of other stuff that spoil men. Oh. Where are those times, when real men`s courage is being tested not behind a gun, but a sword, or a spear, or a horse. Long live Ancient times and its men.
My interpertation to this speech: Every man have destiny to fullfil but by "falling in love with all the things in life that destroyed man", we lose the sight of this destiny.. All the things being: comfort, luxury, peaceful life, no need to work... etc.
This speech makes me think of the glory of youth and vigor, and how we are all destined to lose it with each passing day. Every one of us has a time limit and because we are unable to overcome this we must do all we can with it before we fade away.
@gokuudo Actually, this speech is about greed, and a way of life. Once you reach a certain level of wealth in spirit, physical or emotional level, you don't accept any lower deeds than that once reached. In other words, a stupid example: If you get rich you don't want or even look to go back to simplicity anymore.
I understand the soldiers. Alexander had gone too far, but Alexander could just let them get their freedom, then recruit new fresh troops. I mean, he was REALLY rich at that time!
At 4:32, Alexander says because you have fallen in love with all the things in life that destroy men!....hahaha...Alexander obviously hasnt realized he was infatuated with winning which is also a desire.....that destroys.....Great Warrior, but, hasnt been able to enjoy his winning for a single day.
Great men of those times no longer exist. Wheres that passion of men to conquer the unknown and reach for the heavens. Alexander was great because he saw the potential in men to be something more. His love was had no limits, as his vision had no ends.
yes this happen after is Hydaspes Battle. This is the River of beas´ the northen india about 100 km from sikot in pakistan. The battel we see in the movie is in multan in pakistan..
