Let's try another way: To see the 'short' version, either go online at the Tampa Tribunes's website or purchace a copy & look at the FEATURED op-ed on p3 of views of this Sunday's edition: 10-18-2009. Title is "Beward The Debt Trap" For the unabridged version, where I cite my sources and such, hit my personal websites and look at the front page news. The title is Higher-Ed Tuition Costs: The Conservative view is not on either extreme"
*ALERT* The Tampa Tribune published my 'Education-/-Tuition DEBT' Op-Ed as their *featured* piece on page 3 of views this past Sunday -calling my lengthy missive their featured letter. (Links to that in a moment if i run out of space here.) Anyhow...Chris, you are correct -interesting use of the phrase 'bid up.' ~~~ The bottom line is that Colleges and Universities see students can pay more and thus they raise their tuition to compensate. Ok, next post shows the links proper...
The student loan program is the very reason tuition has gone up so much, because it allows students who would otherwise not be able to do it, to bid up tuition. A side effect of this is to lower the quality of education because now the professors see their job as primarily researchers as opposed to teachers. There are a great deal of professors who see teaching as their side job, rather than their primary job. It's sickening.

Why get an education at all? Just drop out after high school like Hannity did. Maybe someday you too can be a media hack.
