nah, guys, they all repsresented things in his life that he couldnt face when it was him. Like his anger issues, put into a physical form of Carol, and his anger getting in between his sister (who is going off with new friends [Bob and terry vs sister and new friends]). The father never came up, because that would give too much room for someone else to control his fate, and this movie was about him learning to control and come to terms with changes- something kids find hard to do.

Kind of like how Max was close with his sister, but is now off with new friends he doesnt understand. Both cases, carol and max get overtly pissed off. The connections are too east to see,

well no, KW represents his sister while judith represents his mom. if you take a close look, you can even recognise their faces. and carol is not max's father figure but represents feelings (like anger and rage) he has not learned to keep under control. that's why carol and KW's relationship is so disturbed ... because max's sister just hit puberty and max is not able to accept or even understand why she is departing herself more and more ...

Okay, I'm gonna get a million hates on this, but could someone tell me why this movie is so great? I didn't really find much of a story line, some people say it's for adults, but even my dad didn't seem to care for it too much. I thought it was a kids movie since it came from a kids book. I wish it would have had more going on for it but I got kinda bored. Am I missing something? It seems too me that he was spoiled, he ran off at had some fun, realized he should be home, goes back home. Help me?

Well, I think it was more of the experience. A little boy has some problems at home which causes him to act out in order to get what he wants. This time, he ran away. But doing so, goes to a world that at first seems like his kind of place. He rules it as king, but still disregards responsibility and the family that he has at home. Soon, he realizes that his destructive nature does nothing to help, but in fact makes things worse You can't always get what you want. But you can love what you have.

@IzzibelleBee First of all you missed the symbolism. Each WIld Thing symbolised someone in his life. Ex. Carol was Max, Judith was his mom, ira was the boyfriend, kw was his sister, the bull was his father, the goat was his teacher, the owls were the sisters friends, the bird is calm max. I think I got them all. and just... I dunno it's what you get out of it, if you got nothing then its nothing to you.

Well, it really isn't for kids. Its more emotionally driven to be a kids movie. If you watch closely, you'll realize that all the monsters are all somewhat related to Max, to his personality. So he learns something about himself by being with these creatures. I think that if you want to understand the movie, you have to look at it subjectively. So if you are into movies for just what going on, the plot, or the story, you're not really going to understand what puropose of the movie is.

@IzzibelleBee It's a Family movie. Well. 5 and under shouldn't watch it but Max goes to a strange island and meets the wild things, and they represent his emotions and family members. KW is like a mother, Carol is like the Father he never had, the other girl is his sister and the others are like his friends. It's about having fun, being thankful, and adventure is at every corner.
