The ending sucks, but I gotta say, the Never Ending Circle song gets me right in the heart. Seeing all the happiness and then knowing how the real royal family is dead... ;_;

I'm actually disappointed with this animated film, because despite Anastasia surviving, Rasputin seemed to have his happy ending, as after he was hailed a hero by the gullible peasants, he was not shown anymore, giving me the impression of "the bad guy triumphs or gets away at the end," which in my view, doe not make a complete happy ending.

According to several people, in one night he was poisoned, stabbed, and shot before falling into a river on a cold night, and finally died by drowning. And he was killed before the Romanovs were brutally slain by the Bolsheviks (I don't see why Lenin couldn't have just banished them away to Australia or Mexico).
I know what happened to Rasputin in real life. I'm talking about this cartoon, because it seemed to show that he had his own happy ending, and he wasn't even aware of the flaw in his plan - Anastasia surviving.

But the Don Bluth movie was a lot better than this one; there was no hint of Rasputin getting "his own happy ending", the animation's better, and the only talking animals are an albino bat working for Rasputin (but Bartok the bat only talks to Rasputin, so we don't know if he really CAN talk or if one of the gifts Rasputin got from the Dark Forces was the ability to understand animal speech).
Isn't murdering them without a fair trial still wrong. It is not an execution, it murder. True, he's not the perfect Tsar but you have to understand the state of which he has grown, he was never shown to be of kingship material and his life banned him completely from knowing the outside life. All right, they are evil, manipulative tyrant. but remember that Anastasia was 17 when they shot her. Absolute Monarchy is never right but their fate is the start of a new, crueler revolution.

and anastasia said, "Oh, i remember everything now!", and then the movie was over, I died. I was freaking pissed.
