  • The guy was a genius

  • @bluenose1986 *is

  • Better than a lot of pro players maybe Rooney. He is from guernsey were I come from my dad is friends with him.

  • I doubt any player will amass such an amazing set of goals - the audacity of some of them! The man was a genius and if he was Brazilian or Italian he'd have been a national hero, but in this country we prefer work rate over flair.

  • @PaddyGoo Absolutely correct and that is why England fail over and over again.

  • nostaliga

  • My goodness, WHAT a player he was. The guy should have had 100 caps for the national team.

  • What a player, amazing!!

  • Most underrated player in the world

  • best ever southamton player

  • le god

  • @Jonks12394 well southampton fc are top of the championship and we will probably be promoted to the premier league this season so Come On You Reds

  • matt le tissier best player evar!!!!!

  • Amazing that a genious like this spent his whole career in Southampton! Shows true loyalty!

  • genius, a god

  • Comment removed

  • Kakva preciznost....

  • 0:36 thats where wolves copied it off and claiming they made it up.

  • Pure genius :-)

  • it's a crime SIR matt didn't get 100 england when david beckham if beckhams a better player than SIR matt i'll show my arse in woolies window SIR matt le tissier was the greatest player of anytime or era simply noone could match him i remember when dat nigga used to run his own goal of the month/season competitions

  • he played so much

  • 0;28 I was behind that goal

  • @suicycle9 I can't either

  • Matt Le Tissier and Paul Scholes are undoubtedly two of the finest goal-scoring midfielders England has ever produced. It's a shame that they were never given more opportunities to shine on the international stage.

  • the goal v newcastle 44-50secs is the best exakple of his audacious skill & total mastery of the ball! what a natural genius!

  • lol all these goals look so easy like he didnt even put effort in so good

  • PLEASE why isn't this guy on classic eleven on fifa 10 ?!?!?! :'(

  • better video, better image quality, better music, got the crowd sound amazing... and the goals are the same... take a look: watch?v=FSsdfe4Z69g

  • His flick up free kick is like something out of a training ground routine..perfect.

0.45 is one of the most skillful goals I have ever seen, and I completely agree with what @mejaz98 said, it's wonderful to look back and see a player not motivated by money or superficial exploits..the perfect player, on and off the field. As for winning trophies, i think Le Tissier just loved playing football.

He gains respect from every fan for his complete Loyalty to his club...you listening Cashley?

  • Best Southampton - and one of Englands - greatest and most skillful players ever!!!

  • Oh... So this is the guy who invented football...

  • Matt Le Tissier was a great football player. One of the greatest in English history. Greetings from Poland!

  • @decitos

exactly! im united supporter for almost 20 years but for many years im also the fan of the saints. and matt is one of my fav all-time players alongside with cantona, schmeichel and sheringham. he was such a sensational and loyal player!

    another greetings from poland! :)

  • what is the song name??

  • @strongestt

Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand

  • Its so stupid a player this good doesn't go to a big club I know he loved Southampton and not playing for England either along with Steve Bruce.

  • I look at this video and im bemused that he only played 8 times for a England!Matt Le Tiss-superb player and person! One of the best footballers ever in my opinion!

    CMON YOU REDS!

  • Matt Le Tissier best player for saints EVER.

  • i love how all these spectacular goals come from a player that performs them so laidback he might as well be playing ball with his son rather than playing in the premier league.

best free kick ever against Wimbledon

long life king le tissier , love him on Soccer Saturday !

  • i remember on an episode of soccer AM he said his fav song was "I am the One and Only" by Chesney Hawkes. After watching this i think we'll let him off , cause he might be onto something :P

  • yep the game against b-burn was class i was at that game in the b-burn end and that was the days when oposite fans applauded class play . Always good to see that goal back as me and my mum are visible due to her 90s pink coat always a laugh to see it. LE GOD IS GOD "welcome to matt le tissier airport southampton"

  • Its total bullshit that he didnt play more for England. One of the many reasons they can't win the world cup, cos they didn't pick top players

  • class player.

  • The English Cantona, I'd say he were a one-off but he's just another special player. I wish there was someone around like him these days, he made Match of the \Day compulsive viewing!

  • why didnt he play consistently for England?

  • Because he was lazy as fuck

  • Nothing short of a disgrace that he only played 8 times for England.

  • well said m8 if he was french the pundits would ave been lickin his arse saying he was le genius instead they say he doesnt work hard enough what wafflers

  • as a man u fan le god is the only non- man u player i ever totally idolised. lots of raging debate about how skillful but lazy berbatov is at the moment but le tiss was truly both. does anyone have the baddiel & skinner piece on how lazy he was? it was hilarious, i'd love to see it again! hope and pray i'll see another player with this much natural ability again in my lifetime.....but i doubt it!

  • the best one i think is the blackburn one... WHAT A HIT!!!

  • you can see bburn fans even applauding him

  • fenomeno

  • That people is Matt Le Tisser.

He didnt want to go any where else .

    He loves the Saints

    And We love him

  • and the shoot´s dam dam daaaaaaaaamn very good foodcontrole wow

  • DAAAAAAAAAMNNNNN!!!! ho is this player i don´t know ho is it!!! nice goals nice skillz wow amazing

  • Jedi

  • Outstanding, what a frickin player! Newcastle and blackburn goals out of this world. What were England thinking not playing him. If he had moved to a bigger club then he would be getting mentioned along with the great players in the world.

  • bigger club or not hes still gettin mention as one of the greatest cplayes in the world is a saints legend he is le god

  • Seriously. Le God should have started every game for England while he was playing.

  • but i am a saints fan lol

  • the two against newcastle are out of this world! fact is, if england had him in the squad in '93/94, you'd have been in the world cup. in '96 you wouldn't have lost on penalties. For me, he's the greatest player to grace the premiership. LE GOD!!

  • red army

  • I was there at Ewood for the goal at 1.30, There`s not many times when the whole stadium claps a goal from the away team, Class goal, Class player, should have played far more times for England

  • one of the best Technical player ever!!!

  • ok..i've read the credit at the last clip!

  • can anyone tell me the title of the song?? is it from the strokes?

  • Franz Ferdinand

  • Franz Ferdinand : Take me out.

  • It's no insult to Southampton to say that Le Tissier was far too good for them. Le Tissier, in his prime, could have walked into any team in the world and been the best player in the side - wouldn't have the best workrate but would still have been the best. It is to his eternal credit that he remained loyal to them even when he was being courted by the likes of A.C. Milan.

  • why did he only play 8 times for england?

venables insisted on picking basic players like mcmanaman and anderton instead of him. hoddle ignored him and seemed to have a grudge, because le tiss eclipsed hoddle at club level? jealousy? or the fact le tiss turned down chelsea and the chance to triple his wages when hoddle was their manager? only hoddle can and venables can answer but looking back, its scandalous.

why did he never play for a 'big' club?

    simple, he loved southampton fc

  • It seems ridiculous and also unwise that Hoddle ignored Tissier, because both are the most talented England players. But, as you said, only Hoddle and Venables could answer. What I want to know is Tissier's passing capability.

  • pfffffff awesome!!!

    Great vid ;) 5 stars..

  • my question is why is he englnd b he is so talented enough for england a all personal problems or life aside.

  • great player, went down hill after joining spurs

  • who are you talking about anyways?

  • Mcoe the only thing i wank over is your mothers titts beacuse the slag ass bitch begs me to do it to her.

  • i thought him how to play soccer!!!

  • I guess you're a pretty good thinker then?

  • greatest midfielder since bobby charlton an absolute legend

  • Amazing goals!

  • here douche why the fuck can i not send u a message on ur channel bit

  • I dont know

  • Some of the best goals of any player in any league. Amazing natural ability. Most players are athletes that can kick a ball. He was just gifted. Kept Southampton up for years.

  • its a discrace that this man didnt get 100 caps for england and beckham did

  • but becham cant even dribble normally...

  • so you agree?

  • woo.. never heard of him :o

    Nice goals!

  • I'm not a Southampton fan or anything, but I love Le Tissier. I love the fact that he wasn't really much in terms of athletic prowess, but he was just rediculously talented instead. Amazing.

  • He ate MacDonalds and couldn't be bothered to run, but was still a football genius. Just give him the ball and he was sure to do something with it. Shame Hoddle and Venables weren't brave enough to pick him more for England..

  • As Veljko below. Not sure why he didn't play for any other clubs? Any reasons? Maybe he was that loyal to Soton.

Surely playing for a better team would have made him an even better player. I know Man U had Cantona (roughly the same time) but I thought he was as good as. Fast feet, football brain, could score left and right foot.

  • One of football wizards. He could have played for every club in the world, but he had been loyal to Southampton.I just couldn't understand why he had not played for England national team? They could have won something with him in a team.

  • fat and slow. he may make a good highlight reel but that's that

  • i love his laid back volleys. so calm but powerful.

  • great player shit club

  • twat

  • I agree 2,

    Matt le God!!

  • best player ever

    best club ever

  • Damn, he was good, and that free kick, hehe genius.

  • le god. kept us in the top flight single-handedly

  • anyone notice a lot of those goals were scored against Newcastle?

  • he already was unstopable

  • imagine wat a player he would have been if he hadn't been so laid back.he would've been unstopable

  • my god!dat wimbledon goal was classic.he taps d ball & it flies off like he belted it.he has spring toes or sumthin.

  • LEGEND!!$aints FC EVER!!!

  • a marvel i mean he made scoring look so easy

  • im a life long saints fan and i think he is the greatest english player of all time.

he was overlooked for england so many times because he didnt play for a big club.

he made scoring look easy, especailly since he wasnt playing with a team of other world class players. he stuck with saints through his whole career even when united were interested he is a true saint and i hope they can get a player like that again.

come on you red and white army !!

  • 100% agree

  • Just look at the goal against Newcastle. This guy is so underrated and no doubt one of the best that soccer could ever offer.

  • He had such a casual style, not sure who u could compare it to nowadays

  • FUCK !!!

  • Watching this makes you wonder how he didn't play more games for England

  • just 8 Games and perhaps he was the best english football player in this time. what a stupid nationalcoach

  • Pity hardly any of today's footballers have the passion and loyalty Le Tissier had.

  • i feel sorry for southampton without him they r buggered up but hopefully they will win league 1 this season

    le tiss = saints legend

  • Le Tissier had it all:

    Loyalty

    Skill

    Vision

    Passion

And my word that lad could volley.. English football may never see a player like this again.

  • Awesome

  • che ruspa!!!

  • what a stuff!!!

ive been fan of southampton for 8 or 9 year (actually earlier i didn't like them =x).

as a pole that a shame for me that so many shitty polish players played for saints in recent years...

ive always loved matthew. you know im great fan of man united since i was 4 and i always said that cantona and le tissier had very similar skills.

matthew was spectacular player and it's very sad that he played for england only few times...

  • wow, every time I see i new goal it's like this guys a better than I thought, and as for the loyalty, well he gains respect from every fan.

yes Giggs fits that catergory but he's with man utd, no disrespect to S'ton but he stayed there despite being in a position to walk into almost any club he wanted.

  • the answer is none. all footballers care about now is money and trophies. Le tissier turned down spurs and chelsea to stay loyal to saints fans. What a football legend . so underated

  • There will never be a player like Matt Le Tissier ever again. The last true one club man. people go on about Ryan Giggs, Tony Adams or Steven Gerrard who ( don't get me wrong) are also loyal players but they played for clubs that won trophies. how many players stay at clubs that don't win trophies now

  • I think the answer is many, as they would be playing at lower league clubs. What made Le Tissier special was that he played at a "high profile" club and stayed with them through thick and thin (witness the Newcastle exodus)

  • Only ever missed 1 penalty

  • Legend FACT

  • true legend stuck with the same team through on through suprisingly declined offer from milan and tottenham stayed with southampton one the best strikers the prem will eva see im an everton fan but i respect matt le tisseir alot

  • If Venables had picked him, England would have been World Champions.

  • That's bollocks. Le Tissier was brilliant though.

  • c'est beau, c'est incroyable, c'est magic!!!!

  • hard to believe he only had 8 england caps... HE WAS WAY TOO GOOD FOR SOUTHAMPTON

  • He tore up a contract at spurs in 1991. And could have gone to AC Milan. I cant understand why he stayed there for so long tbh.

  • thats bollocks just because the footballers of today have no loyalty and plus he didnt want anything else other than the saints.

  • wow he really was fantastic

  • Fuggin immense.

  • It looks like he barely touches the ball and it screams off his foot. True class.

  • yes great goals one of the best i've seen in video of that distance and great ball control too.

  • Sick goals!!

  • the free kick is fucking insane...... watch my videos

  • Watch my videos?

  • Le Tissier was the reason why Southampton stayed in the Premiership, always put on a performance and dedicated to the club... He should have been an England regular but it was not to be. Awesome goals from anywhere on the pitch. Easily walks straight into the best 11 of the Premier Elite team. (and im a Pompey Fan so no bias).

  • footballing genius

most underrated player of all time

  • Agreed. England should have built a team around him. What a waste.

  • wrong music btw :(

  • Suggestions?

  • The Life of Riley ofc

  • i might get stick for saying this but in my opinon he could have been as influential to England as Zidane was for France just a shame he was never given the chance. Thats the price playing for a non fashonable club. ps im not a Southamton fan.

  • The guy is an absolute genius, it is a pity the FA and MoTD forget about him. I'm fed up watching them creaming of a free kick saying he's the only one who could do that. Matt was doing years before they where around. Get a freekick 30 yards out and we'd already start singing that we'd scored and 9 x outta 10 we did. What a player what a man and lets hear more about LEGOD on MoTD. He was the man

  • What a brilliant player he was. I'd've loved him to have played for West Ham. Shame about Southampton's current situation. Wish them well in the future.

  • Love the goal at 2:23

  • legend

  • An amazing player. In goal scoring ability, he was a bit like an English Dennins Bergkamp (Note that I said "in goal scoring ability", so not the pass master maestro role)... He's a great, and an absolute legend for not leaving Southampton for a bigger club. Would love to see more one-club-players these days!

  • actually he was a brillaint passer/ playmaker as well, and the best deadball striker of all time

  • great player through and through southampton LE GOD!!!!

  • better then ronaldo!

  • I love Matt to bits, and I really think it is so sad to watch, just no only how GREAT "OUR MATTY" was, but WE as SAINTS were, god have we had some rubbish managers,as already said , I did have a poem I wrote shown in the Ugly Inside, My Grand Dad bought his 1st two season tickets Archers rd end 1921 and my late Mum stood in Archers, and Nicky Holmes came to her funeral , we need a dam good Saints manager with a decent board. and lots of goals

  • yeeahh......................

  • Le Tissier was amazing.....Graham Taylor was an idiot for leaving him out of the England squad.

  • and venebles and hoddle......

  • Hi Don, you are sooo right,

what a season we are having, unthinkable

  • its so sad to see hat happen to saints.i started going in 81 and would give anything for that side now

  • its so sad watching it wen The Saints were in the premier league and now there in the relegation zone of the championship.

  • British zidaine, that never was should of played more english football.. top man

  • le god!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • if he ever felt there was a slight chance he could socre he'd take the shot. lol i bet hes fucking hopeless at poker

  • goals at 0:50 and 1:35, absolute control, amazing skill!

  • The man is sick. Simple as that...Sick Sick Sick...I was 16 in 1994 and I thought he was God...What a talent

  • that freekick is insane

  • he makes it look so fuckin easy!!

    very good video thanks mate

  • he didnt go onto bigger things because of his loyalty to a bottom of the table club and the fact the england manager didnt want to pick him as well as him not playing to his best ability in the few games he got picked for england but yeah 210 goals or something like that for southampton speaks for itself.

  • easy to forget just how brilliant he was. i'm a celtic fan who adopted saints as my second team in the 90's because and only because of le tiss.. i loved watching him play. simply the most naturally talented player of his generation.. no argument.

  • le tiss, le tiss

hes matt le matt le tiss,

    he gets the ball

    and takes the piss,

he's matt le matt le tiss!

  • That goal against blackburn never fails to amaze me.

  • the england team should have been built around this guy the same way southampton were

  • what is the name of the song??

  • Take me out by Franz Ferdinand
