Many time with Columbia records Barbra's made many different takes with her music, this is actually the 3rd version of this song, the one you hear on the stereo copy, this one your seeing and then theres the Mono copy with is all together different.I actually love the mono copy version.its very real and sounds non staged, she did a sound track to many of the songs on color me barbra, but this one stands out to be a real winner, only barbra knew what she was doing!
This TV Special was filmed in a Phil. museam at nite on a weekend. Lights, camera, cables etc all had to be gone at morning. "Color Me Barbra" was the best album she ever made.
I have the Color Me Barbra vinyl album in front of me. MONO "360 Sound". On the LP she holds that final note and lets out a little gasp on the word "when" which is heard over the orchestra. You can't hear it on this track which leads me to believe the album and the TV show are not one and the same.
FANTASTICA BARBRA....Y SHIRLEY.....Y TODAS LAS VERSIONES.......DE LAS GRANDES POR SUPUESTO......PERO LA DE LENA HORNE ES MI PREFERIDA....PARA MI POR SUPUESTO........TAMPOCO ES CUESTION DE OTRA COSA....JEJEJEJEJEJEJE
If your lucky enough to have a "MONO"copy of Color Me Barbra you will hear this version on the record, odd they replaced it in the Stereo version,go figure
How gorgeous this looks compared to so much junk that was done on TV then. Boy did she have a strong sense of her timeless appeal or what? And a preview of the reincarnation storyline of On A Clear Day you Can See Forever!
I like the way she doesn't lip-synch! That makes all the difference. As primitive as the techonology was, it's still mesmerizing to watch all these decades later!
Well-said! And back in the day when tone-correction didn't exist, you actually had to be good. Technology will never make a performer better than they really are!
The person who mentioned "tone correction" probably meant "pitch correction."
Pitch correction is a software function that allows a recording engineer to edit a vocal track. When a singer sings a note flat, pitch correction allows the recording engineer to sharpen it and get it back on pitch.
@StreisandIsLove ~ Sure it can. Case in point: Miss Ross, whose tiny, tinny voice got amped up in her studio recordings. Not much of an instrument there.
This is such a lovely song... and so true!

what's "Tone Correction?"

The person who mentioned "tone correction" probably meant "pitch correction."
Pitch correction is a software function that allows a recording engineer to edit a vocal track. When a singer sings a note flat, pitch correction allows the recording engineer to sharpen it and get it back on pitch.
It is widely used in pop music recordings.

@monkeyblaze ~ Primitive? My God, this was the 60s, not the 20s.
