You could always throw in some extra instrumentals at that point, to make it less similar, or drop it a full octave down offcourse...
But in general: to me it resembles songs like the "Hurt" cover by Johnny Cash, and that's one of my favourites so I shouldn't change that much if I were you...

Hey Rafe! Yeah I can hear you've improved a lot man! Though I still think your voice could be less insecure and more from the stomach (try to loosen that up buddy) ;)
However: you're definitely an extremely talented songwriter! And I think this chorus is fine the way it is.

The chorus is a bit similar, but you speed up the tempo, so it's not bad at all.
