  • hey dont foret, the appalachian mountains go through mass, new hampshire and maine and vermont. Some of the most beautiful places in the USA, same with the south

  • love the music reminds me of where I came from and grew up Northern Ontario Canada much of it is like this...but I must say a hardy people!

  • I agree with "debrarf" - my family origins are also from Appalachia, Kentucky, and though there are places like in the video, there really are some beautiful places there, too and the video doesn't show them. Not necessarily rich places - simple and even poor - but clean, neat and pretty. How about another video with some of THOSE places in it?

  • I am somewhat offended by this video..my people are from Appalachia and we have always said it's ok to be poor..but don't be dirty..there are many clean well kept places in Appalachia..this isn't a fair display of the people..sure their poor but not all live like this video portrays.

  • Hehe it's District 12 x)

  • my thoughts go out to my scotch, irish, and english counterparts in appalachia and the deep south!

  • Love the good ole folks there, love the music.... I just wish they would clean their damned garbage up !!! Old junk cars and mattresses tossed away in mountain streams is just pure stupidity.

  • Would like to travel parts of that region but I'm afraid I might get lynched.

  • Appalachia like a diffferent country. I live in southern appalachia, the georgia part

  • Is there where all your war hero's are coming from cause they can't find jobs so they help keep America in the business of warring with every other Nation in the world so that some of your people can all stay rich at the exspense of the rest of the world including you?

  • great video

  • VERY NICE! this is reality for many folks.... I am glad I had the opportunity to live among them.. it was one of life's richest lessons, and best time in my life! Thank you for this wonderful memory!

  • Its notta junky car its yard art! I love the mountains of wv in fact i just bought my first house in odd wv i love it wouldnt live anywhere else!

  • just cause a persons truck and boat cost more than their house doesn't mean anything,it just means they have their priority's inlne!

  • I am from New Jersey but I fondly remember visiting Asheville and western North Carolina a few years back. One of the most beautiful places in the world.

  • man that place sucks

  • Lived up here in The Blue Ridge Mts of Appalachia all my life NW North Carolina

  • I grew up in the Appalachian region,to me this is the greatest place on earth.

  • the images and the tunes are perfect, I wish I was there right now

  • home sweet home. a place where you ain't afraid to walk down the road at night... because you have a gun... and so does everyone else.

  • ahhhh home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very good slide show!! I'm from McDowell County, WVa. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Best people in the world live in the Appys.

  • I'd like to know where this song came from, and what' it's title is.

  • Black Mountain Rag, by Dixie Travelers. You can find it on ITunes.

  • Music from this area really does come right from the ground, the trees, the breeze. Its a magical place and those who are destroying it by blowing up the tops of the hills and throwing the (poisoned) soil into the valleys, creeks, etc. their names should be posted and they should be shunned and harassed and cursed forever.

  • Very nice pictures with the music. Well done. I just posted an original song called Oh Appalachia, if you would like to check it out. God bless

  • Thank you for the upload :) I live in ky and wouldn't trade it for anything :)

  • same here... i live in swva and richmond forgets about us we need to form our own state and call it appalachia

  • I grew up in the' East Tennessee Appalachia mountains of' Del Rio. Wise men walk here that' knows how to live of the land. To see more of APPALACHIA photos visit my site..BLUEMOONGRASS

  • looks pretty down home and nice to me

  • The Appalachia is a hard life!

  • @lesah5 Life is only hard if you think it is. I have lived here in Eastern Kentucky most of my life other than my time in the military and this life is what I prefer.

  • Ghetto! Maybe "ghettoness" has to do with your income and not your race? Poor blacks and whites seem to have a lot in common.

  • I love this video and I love Appalachia. My kind of folk

  • nice photos!

    what song is that?

  • Black Mountain Blues. If you'd like, I can email it to you.

  • The folks in this region speak a purer form of English than is spoken most anywhere in the world . The English spoken here is more closely related to Shakespeare's English than any other dialect in the world. So, the pronunciation issue doesn't lie at the feet of the people in the mountains. Just because folks on the news want to pronounce a word a certain way doesn't mean that is the way the word was originally meant to be pronounced. Appalachia should be pronounced as APPLE-AT-CHA

  • 38rebel: Amen to that. So many college or socalled people that think they are educated because they read it in a book or read a "article" think they know the truth... I love it when they try to tell those who have walked the walk and lived the life what they think is correct way.. You are correct it is Apple-at-cha. And I tip my hat to the kind folks from there. The contributions they have given to our country is unmeasurable.

  • Really or are you kidding???? Who cares about how its said just enjoy the video. And fyi I do know how to say appalachia thanks. Considering I live in the eastern region of beautiful kentucky.

  • @38rebel thank you for the correct pronunciation. I am from Appalchia and I talk exactly like this. hahaha I just love it when people call me a hillbilly. I respond with a simple.....Thank ya for the compliment flatlander.

  • @38rebel YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!! AND THAT IS A FACT! EVERYBODY, READ UP ON THAT:DO YOUR RESEARCH...IT'S VERY TRUE!

  • @38rebel 100% A FACT!!!!!

  • Some neat pics. I would have loved to see more of the people of Appalachia though!

  • Fun pictures
