When I found out that playboy bunnies were addressed as "Bunny ----, I started calling my wife "Bunny ----," in the privacy of our palacial mansion. (Well, she could make the smallest apartment into a palacial mansion.) that was a good many years ago.
In addition to Mickey Gilley...one of Playboy Records biggest acts was Barbi Benton...And she definitely got to hang out at the Playboy Mansion with Hef...She was his girlfriend!
cool story may be i can get kraft dinner or mr noodle to help me out thats all i can afford to buy now ( sometimes i mix the KD with mr noodle just to spice things up
The Playboy Label ventured into Country Music around the same time as the Melodyland/Hitsville label, which was run by the Disney Corporation, was doing the same. . You couldn't have a greater contrast in terms of the influences involved but at least they were willing to explore the growing Country market at the time. Chuck certainly is a very fine singer and it was a pity that he didn't get on to any of the bigger rosters to further his career.
@TheGarretdeas Probably Playboy had their biggest success with having Mickey Gilley on the label :) I've heard some of Chuck's other singles and they're quite good, so I'll have to post another one this coming week!
Playboy Records was a huge success because of Barbi Benton (and Hugh Hef's money behind it)
