sound like it has no muffler on it, put the muffler back on it or put a elbow pipe on it and add a straight pipe not less then 6 inches on it or replace the exhaust valve, them quantam engines are good, i got one and still have it, going to put it on a john deere mower this spring
if you bypass the governor so that it runs slower and push it all the way, it will stop. it is what i do because my spark plug wire shocks my no matter what and the dead-man handle brake is bad for the con rod. small engines usually break on load. I dunno. <:(
i be tryin to post a video of my rod knock'n briggs on YT. it knocks so loud. one day i was walking home and i heard a loud pinging noise like someone was playing spoons. i got home and dad was running it in the front yard and it is a 1/4 mile to my house from the stop a'cuz the buses wont go much farther.
lol,i garbage picked a lawn more too about 3 weeks ago ,and it runs no problem, but the cutting deck is jap crap and it is rusted

yea, im gonna use it until i breaks the shell off. i regoverned it because its end is coming on hot. now it runs like 2500 instead of like 3500.

if you move the governer rod the other way. when i mentioned the brake handle it is in my case. how do you stop the other engines?
if you just move the throttle towards the closed side it will idle down too low and cost to a stop.

I ground them or remove the spark plug wire.
"Choking" it to stop is a bad idea. Cylinder washdown, ect.

Yup. It might run a bit lean, and even leaned because of the broken primer bulb (that's why I use ah... "starting fluid").
I put it in the 2HP today. Amazingly, it ran... Lean too? Maybe.
