  • why are the swords so wobbly

  • So, they can fly now too? Why don't they just give them x-ray vision, super strength, etc. and be done with it--lol.

  • All swords are actually flexible to some extent. If they were completely rigid, the impact from a parry would be absorbed by the wielder's arm, which is not something you want, if the sword is flexible, it can vibrate easily and the blade absorbs the impact.

  • Well don't I feel bad for the person who has to put all those scrolls back in order again...some people are so inconsiderate

  • It's weird how the myth of the flexible chinese sword hasn't died, what with all the information on the net on the subject. Just show one video, one piece of physical evidence, of a sword as flexible as this jian in the movie cutting anything of respectful thickness or toughness be it tatami or meat or anything.

  • who knows this fighting style, i like it. it has to be very old

  • bitch got told...

  • That's a weird library... people actually read wood?

  • @josecarlosamador . Books were made of bamboo strips that had characters inscribed on them and were strung together hence the rolled up things above. Printing wasn't invented until the Tang Dynasty or so.

  • @eponinelee wow, I find it amazing that you can actually learnt something useful on Youtube. Thank you. Sorry for my ignorance. In fact, after posting this I was like "Oh yeah, printing was there" and looked on google to see if I could find some of the book/writting history (even thou the thing I found had nothing to do to what is in the movie). But again, thank you a lot :D

  • @josecarlosamador Oh my pleasure! You're welcome. ^_^

  • @eponinelee Oh dammit, only know I watched the full video. At 2:22 you can notice it's a roll; at first it actually looked like wooden logs... (stupid me).

  • She is so hot!!!

  • I love Flying Snows' Sword

  • my favorite movie at my favorite part

  • is that a boob slap at 2:16?

  • Oh, and as for what they are saying...

When the young girl first yells, she yells "MASTER!"

Then later asks (to the stationary guy) "Why don't you do something?"

He then speaks of the fact that the man must die, but it feels dishonourable to attack him.

  • SOme of you are just idiots...

The movie is about a young assassin, who spent ten years perfecting a fighting move that's lethal within ten paces from the target.

At first, he claims he has killed the 'bad' assassins, trying to kill the emporer.

However, the Emporer tells his beliefs of the assassins story, and then the assassin corrects him.

Each of the perspectives are told in different colours!

    It's a reeeeeally epic movie! :D

  • DA TA = hitler Dracula finish

  • I'm faster I kill them all

  • someone pls explain me that scene. haven't seent that movie with a sub.

  • @SuperKLC i don't remenber their names, but the girl that killed the guy and yet li want to kill the emperor, but the guy that got killed was not agree and he even said he would not let jet li kill the emperor(he dind't now his girfriend was with jet, pretty much, thats it, watch it bro :D

  • i remember when Ziyi 1st appeared on screen, many thought she was Jet Li's little sister, and now to see them sharing screen time 2gether yep life is good=)

  • tony leung mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • Zhang iyi is so cute and funny here

  • Cool the library is made out of Linkin' Logs!

  • they're scrolls...surely (?)...

  • @JuNkCriSiS it's bamboo, chinese use bamboo to write before paper was invented

  • 1:00, lol, didnt even need to face her to ward off her blows. Awesome.

  • the sword was so fake.

    rubber ftw? =.=

  • @theMilkz chinese swords are usually flexible as they are being spun around at high speeds, and when striking, they may snap if not able to bend.

  • i understand flexibility, but that much of a bend is just too much. :s

  • @Juubjuubcow

No they are not. The type of swords that bend like that are flimsy aluminum movie props or training-props used for wushu-acrobatics.

Real swords used in combat do not bend at all. See examples of Warring States and Qin-Han swords on google

  • The sword-or at least those of Chinese make-are supposed to be flexible... But not to the point of having the consistency of rubber

  • @langying

Of course, this is a fictional movie. The swords used are movie props and the bending of metal is greatly exaggerated.

  • @theMilkz It's a Chinese blade called a jian dumbass, and they naturally bend that way.

  • @wisewarrior7 hahaha, suuuuure. i guess you don't study physics or material studies.

  • @theMilkz Sure all the studying of physics or material studies is great.. Good job in knowing that metal is strong and stiff. But know this the metal they had to forge was to be used more. masters needed a durable and adapting blade. The flexible blade was used to be able to fend strikes while at the same time maintain a enduring structure. Of course the Japanese took a stiff and strong/smooth approach with the katana (where your argument would win).

  • @jnru43 I find it funny how people are flying in this, and instead the argument is about the metal of the swords

  • @dtothelu I know really.. its stupid.. hahahaha

  • @theMilkz do you know what magnesium is?

  • @MyLilPwny43 yes. your point? pure magnesium can also bend back to its original position?

  • @theMilkz sorry don't worry about it i did have a point but i couldn't really explain it

  • @theMilkz you just dont understand metallurgy, metal can be smithed in many ways, if you heat the metal till it was glowing red and then quenched it, it would harden, if you just heated it to a temperature lower than that, then it could soften. It depends on the metal used. The reason why japanese swords dont tend to snap right off despite the fact that it's stiff is because the top of the blade was heated like the first method and the blade was heated like the second method

  • @Divinenite why the hell are you talking about japanese swords? this vid is chinese. and the japanese used cold shock to temper their swords to stiffen them up, not make them flexible. chinese swords are formed through knocking and sharpening. they never tempered their swords. so what exactly are you implying?? what all the idiots here are not getting is that the sword in this scene is fucking rubber. everyone just wants to one-up each other with stupid points, putting aside common sense.

  • @theMilkz the point of my comment wasn't about the japanese sword, it was about the way the metal on swords were made. If a sword is flexible then it means it was mostly annealed, the core of the katana was stiffened but the blade was softened, otherwise the blade would be too brittle to take hits. It depends on what chinese swords you're talking about, the jian was mostly annealed but the dao would have had some tempering because the core would need to be stiff for effective slashing.

  • @Divinenite so you are agreeing that swords are able to bend to that extent in reality as shown in the vid? *roll eyes*

  • @theMilkz well if the sword was heat treated in a specific way and then user is capable of bend the sword to such a degree i wouldn't see why not. It's just like wooden staffs that martial artists use, if you try to bend the wood then it would just snap, but if you practice hard enough, you'll have enough strength to flex the wood and cause it to flex/vibrate(not sure which one is accurate) really hard and fast which would make it effect against sword users who could potentially cut the staff.

  • @theMilkz it's also the reason why they may slap the staff against the ground before using it, because it would "soften" the staff to allow for more flexibility

  • @Divinenite *rolls eyes*

  • @theMilkz well there's no need for me to argue here i guess, my dad grew up in a time when it was mandatory to learn martial arts in china in order to survive, there were still emperors and such, my dad would watch my grandfather practice everyday and he's seen all of this with his own eyes

  • lol.. jet li s not even out of breath

  • 很空洞

  • this isnt Hero...

  • yeah it is..

  • heh? it is.

  • does Zhang Ziyi really fight like that =O?

  • i watched the fight scenes all on youtube, for this movie, and I was like, "what is going on in movie?!"

then I was amazed after seeing this movie.

  • 2:15, fantastic.

  • incredibly deep this movie is. unlike previous jet li movies like the one or romeo must die, this one and the majority of movies with jet li innit is extremely philosophical

  • How the *PIP* do you take something to read without *PIPING* up evry thing???

  • ummm can you say own at 1:45

  • Don't mess with my man Jet Li, little bitch, do as you're told!
