  • simply beautiful.. real musicians at the top of their game.

  • Ramsey likes Chateau Y, the dry wine of Yquem. A stunning wine!

  • I still have a vinyl copy; this is most def a "shipwrecked on an island" LP for me.

  • It was Red Holt on drums-

best cool jazz trio of the era!!!!!!

  • I think it was Maurice White on drums here in the Ramsey Lewis trio, before he started Earth, Wind and Fire with his brother, the amazing bass player Verdine White in 1970

  • This song is better than good...dang...sit back with a big glass of my favorite wine...

Abrbor Mist Blackberry Merlot...and enjoy...maybe play it again and have another glass...

  • makes me wanna dance around the room even at fifty, white and no rhythm i wanna get down. all it needs is the great jimmy saville talking about stealing points off listeners for getting song titles wrong.these were the days !! goodness gracious ladies and gentlemen !!

  • Found inside a book as though it was written there once before:

All there is to life is rhythm and sound-no more-no less. An this be true and me thinks it is, we present a little life. We'll see you tomorrow at our time and our place. And remember--

Bye Bye, buy bonds, save chicken fat and for goodness sake enjoy all the beautiful women out there!

(Allen Scott WHOT Radio DJ Youngstown, Ohio 1967). The above lines were his closing comments at the end of his show each night with this song.

  • My musician parents had these albums when I was small. Once I learned how to use the turntable, there was no stopping me. This is one of my all-time fav songs, across all genres. Righteous!

  • Ramsey Lewis had a radio show in recent years playing heavy jazz on a light jazz station now that the light jazz stations are gone I dont know what happened to his radio show

  • my joint

  • I was 7 years old when this was recorded. My mother loved this music and many other great musicians. Thanks Mom for teaching me about REAL music at your knee. :)

  • TY Dobie Gray. RIP and to Ramsey Lewis who did the remake. But Dobie has the lyrics.

  • How do you spell cool? R A M S E Y

  • can someone please tell me the movies this song has been in?, i can remember what was happening but i cant remember the movie.....

  • That's right! as like as beatles had come from blues,Elvis and Buddy holly, and they carried classicals into rock., though I don't know which is earlier blues and jazz..and in this album, best jazz player is performing a latest motown hit song with beautiful arrange. thank you giving a great performance.and please forgive me if you found strange expression,I'm not native speaker.I'm writing this in tokyo japan.

  • Ahhh The soothing sounds of a Jazz master such as Ramsey Lewis "couldn't be touched with a ten foot pole," and yet even today none but the chosen few like Kirk Whalum, David Sanborn etc; May be competitive but Ramsey gives them more than a reason or need to even come close.

  • Wow...memories from days gone by...still cool as ever. I remember this so clearly, this and Merry Christmas Baby were my favorites by Ramsey Lewis...ahhhhh

  • too much cool! Chilling!

I believe rock'n roll and pops was made from Jazz, basically.

This is a early crossover stile of jazz and pops.

  • @tmryuji all comes from blues i'd say, whether it's jazz rock or pop, reggae from rock ... had a lesson on this can't really remember much to be honest

  • recorded live at the bohemian caverns in d.c wish i could have been there. eldee young and red holt were the real deal. sadly the trio broke up over differences.

  • The Trio should have been a major hit from 1958 with " Down to Earth" But they finally made it!

  • I had this exact album way back when. . . xox

  • When I was little girl back in the day in elementary school in the 60's..We had a talent show and I could really dance...Still Can....I gatherd only the girlfriends I knew who dance well...We made up a dance to IN Crowd...Our Mama's had a fit...but we shook our little Booties anyway.. AND Won grand prize.Ramsey You are still the King of Jazz to me...I was never able to have a new Bike for Christmas by me beng the oldest of 5 girls I got all hand-me-downs. Won a Brand new Bike due to YOU!!!!

  • This song and Ramsey Lewis turned me onto jazz...glory, that was in the '60s and this little ole white girl was just loving every second of his performance! (kind of snuck into a black club...thank heavens the muscians of that day did not have the black/white hang-up.(

  • When I was in the army at Ft. Knox in 1965, 4 of us had this album in the barracks on the top floor and all played it at the same time. Talk about your stereo. The place was rockin.

  • MUSIC!

  • 'Gonna walk on home.....

  • Kevin Cole, the afternoon DJ for KEXP in Seattle, uses this tune every day while he's talking about what shows are going on around town. I always loved it but never knew the title. Then I took a tap dance class that used it, so I looked it up on YouTube. Now it's one of my favorites. Such a rockin' tune...!

  • Lol, 2:04 "Yeah, Baby!"

  • Thats the best groove Ive ever heard!

  • My parents had albums by Ramsey Lewis, Herb Alpert, Wes Montgomery, Eddie Harris, Frankie Lee, Dave Brubeck, Sonny Carter etc. etc. I heard this music all the time. Good stuff!

  • Wigan Casino brought me here, KTF...

  • C L A S S I C!!!

  • It's a whale like K.K. Hitchikawa who plays 30,000 dollars a hand in backarat. That's the one you really got to watch. He plays fast and big and he has the cash and the credit to turn out your lights.

  • #281 KHJs all-time top 300 of the 60s

  • Why are RATINGS DISABLED?

This is one of the greatest JAZZ tunes ever!

Only Ashton Kuthcher could ruin it.

  • great classic still tops after many years.

  • This was the first peice of jazz i heard in 1966 i was only 5 years old,,,,,,,,,,,,,my dad had good taste

  • I am too young for the Jazz age, but heard this song in the Movie Casino. Loved it ever since!

  • Man! I first heard this song sitting on a bunker in Vietnam. It blew me away. I fell in love with Jazz after hearing Ramsey Lewis and the In Crowd.

  • @cnordan55 lol damn son!!! thats intense:)

  • @cnordan55 Hello thank you for serving our country I wanted to ask if you could actually listen to music while in a tank? I know weird question but always wondered

  • @TheNorthernSoulKing The First Calvary Division was "Air Mobile" at the time. We were "grunts" so listening to music was no problem when we had down time.

  • @cnordan55 Did you see any fighting?

  • @cnordan55 glad you made it back & that The In Crowd was the only thing that blew you away out there. welcome home.

  • This was also used by 'Jimmy Saville' as the intro to his sunday radio 1 show 'Jimmy Saville's old time record club'. Used to have sunday dinner just as the Ramsey Lewis theme started - Oh lovely memories and really greatto hear this again. Thanks

  • Love the history along with the track!!

  • One of the all-time greatest pop instrumental tunes I've ever heard. Ranks right up there with "Time is tight" from Booker T & the M.G's and "Magic Trumpet" from Herb Alpert & the T.J.Brass. Thanks Ramsey Lewis Trio!

  • classic stuff :)

  • someone tell me about the bohemian caverns in washington, d.c . what kind of place was it back in the day? where was it located in dc? what other acts performed there?

  • @alexalot23 It's actually still here, in the U Street Corridor, which, for those that don't know, is a recently-regentrified hipster area. It's still a jazz club as far as I know. I haven't ever been there. But it's still there.

  • One of many Ramsey Lewis albums I owned (and scratched, unfortunately) back in the day!! Still sounds so contemporary and great!

  • grew up on almost only radio music when this came out. My fist exposure to what is called jazz,Ramsey,in crowd! What sruck me was the vibe and the feeling that I was there in the music. Never left me either! Now tonight Im '' in the in crowd again" Taught me about being in the moment, dynamics, and creating a place where every one that shares their love is THE IN CROWD!!! Thank you Ramsey and drummer and bass .My love and blessings to you. Mario Aranda
