It would be very difficult for anyone to really define what is considered "pure" salsa because its an oxymoron - Salsa is it's name, a MIXTURE of influences, past(african), present(jazz, swing) AND future(ballroom, hip-hop, etc.). I think, as all the other girls, she evokes what salsa is to her, and what probably made her win is her not dancing with her head and steps, but with all soul and abandon that evokes an energy and happiness that is undeniable.

And there were many, many people here in LA, um, lets say, confused by the results.

I liked Frances Nieves prelim performance this year. I liked the mixed of precision, technique and personality. I am a On1 and On2 person, I just want good dancing.
