I got the Vendetta and I have temps from 40c to 52c. Doesn't really bother me, but I'd like to get the most out of the heatsink. I'm using Phenom 955, does that seem like a reasonable temperature?
I like the Zalman 8700 because its so easy to install on the standard AMD retention bracket. I don't care for the hassle of tower heatsinks, just a headache to deal with the custom backplate and screwing it down and then back off every-time I want to install a new CPU. I'll trade five degrees and a couple hundred megahertz on the overclock for the added convenience the Zalman 8700 gives me.
theres no comparison over the 2 coolers, the zalman is designed for a low profile desktop case or a small case like the silverstone SG02, the vandetta is a huge tower heatsink with more heatpipes designed for overclocking.
i tried both fan up and down, up is no good for me , cause there's not enough space for air intake, cause of the PSU was on the way, and AMD overdrive can only with if u have a motherboard with AMD 7 series chipset (770 780g 740 790x 790fx 790gx)
If you set it up down then It'll be sucking hot, rising air from the GPU and feeding it to the CPU, and then feeding it to the power supply if you have it mounted on top. I have my Xigmatek with the fan on top to combat this.
Hey so do u have any issues with amd overdrive? mine allways hangs if i attempt any Oc from it so reverted just to using the bios..got my system up here now too..
overdrive doesn't oc so good, software oc was never really ideal, but i always have some sucess with Gigabyte's Eady Tune whenever i own a gigabyte board
dood..i keep all my stuff updated weekly..just overdrive is buggy..its so damn iffy that its not really worth th etrouble using it to OC, just use ur bios instead but overdrive comes in handy for stats n such..and looks koolio..
Ok well are you still gonna have the 9850? if so you can just throw the multi to 15 and be done with it mine is runs stable as can be and runs great :D
9850 was long gone, and it was kind of a dud, hard to explain but check out my Sempron vids i remember i had a explanation, that 9850 i got just won't oc at all, and my old SB600 isn't helping either,
deepcool iceberg pro vs ocz vendetta
