I just picked up the g30 three days ago.LOVE IT put 500 rounds through it very accurate and smooth no issues. First glock for me and am very pleased with it.
I JUST BOUGHT ON OF THESE TODAY USED VERY CLEAN FOR 550 OTD!! I TURN 21 IN 12 DAYS AND I HAVE 3 GUNS WAITING TO BE PICKED UP AT GUN STORE!! I GOT 9MM SEMI AUTO MAC 11, .22 HIGH STANDARD REVOLVER AND .45 GLOCK 30!! IM MOST EXCITED ABOUT MY GLOCK I CANNOT WAIT TO SHOOT IT!!
Rounds smaller than a 45 wont always render your target immobile. Check history. That's the reason the 1911 was commissioned in the first place.
Also, your logic is flawed. A better comparison would be a 5lbs hammer at 20 fps or a 10lbs hammer at 15 fps.
If small rounds could do the job then most police agencies would require their officers to carry 40 and up, and the US military wouldn't be switching back from 9mm to the 45.
Hickok! I need help... I cannot decide for the life of me whether to get a G30sf or a G36. I would like the 4 extra rounds, but I'm sure the G36 if very comfortable. Also, I want to try the Ameriglo +0 tritium ghost ring sights for whichever I decide on. Any experience with them or advice on my Glock decision would me much appreciated. Thanks for all the great videos and thanks in advance for any advice!
I hate to call it a large gun, but it is bigger and fatter than a 26/27/33. I love the .45 though. I might get one of these for "high threat neighborhoods". lol
Ive got the same model glock and have a ghost maker 3.5 lb connector i put in. Any ideas on what i should put in next to make trigger a little smoother pull.
All the various fire control surfaces need to be smoothed out and you can do this either with a buffing wheel or by shooting it enough. Check out the 25 cent glock trigger job.
Herb. Shot a G30 yesterday. Nice. I also own a 21SF. makes those bowling pins fly about 10'. Another thing to remember. CPL and you blast someone. Which do you want to lose? Cops will take your piece. Ya might git it back. What do ya do in the mean time? Another thing. I think everyone should be able to hit a bowling pin at 21'. 5 times in 15 sec. Can't do it. Turn in your firearm. There are a lot of cops that can't hit a silhouette at 21'. And they kill innocent people all the time.
Look at 4:00 time mark, that old frame turned a dark blue from the heat.I was at the range last weekend and fired about 25 -30 shotgun rounds in that NEF Pardner Pump 12 gauge. I went to lay that sucker down and did the BIG No-No. I grabbed that barrel !!! My boy says'Did you burn your hand?" I said,"Naw, just don't take me long to lay my shotgun down!"LOL That SMARTS!!!
I got my American Classic II M1911 and I love it,but Ive been watching your videos and NOW I want a Glock 21 SF. I hear the grip is a little better/thinner than your G21 I watched. I have medium sized hands, but I really like the LOOK of this G30,also. Brother that pistol looks like a Derringer in your big old hands!:) hahahaha Take care & Love the VIDS!
It's all about the MATH, your a teacher, you should KNOW this Hickok45!!! LOL A 230 Grain bullet goes INTO..... a 200Ibs Zombie (1) time.......with NO remainder! :) Class over! I LOVE that big old 'punkin' ball 45! Carried it alot of years in the US Army(I was too lazy to carry an M16,LOL)
hickok45, in response to your comment about running out of ammo, you should try the Kriss SMG mags. They're basically a Glock 21 (13) round mag with an extension, for a total of 30 rounds. I have two and I love them. They turn my Glock 30 into the ultimate range toy!
thanks to hickok i just bought one of these lol no joke. i also bought a viridian c5l laser light combo to go on the front. this man has sold more glocks than anybody glock needs to sponsor this guy. lol i'm writing a letter to those goofy germans.
nice video hickok. just one question, do you use speed loaders with the glocks? because whenever i shoot a glock at the range i can never top off a mag. especially the subcompact mags. keep up the vids!
@michelthegreatable- I had the same problem initially with my G26, but after several range sessions, it becomes easier to load the mags. When first purchased, the speed loader was required for the last 3 rounds, after 3 months, it stays at home when I go to the range.
@KOLIN25 what makes the difference, any gun can take a life.guns dont kill people, people kill people.u can kill a person with a hammer.a gun is just a tool,a tool for self defense or a tool to put food on the table.everybody think about that for second.it wasn't long ago thats the way people looked at firearms, not in todays world though.boy its weird to here from somebody with some sence for a change, isnt it.
hey hickok45 do you know of any conversions for the glock 30 besides 22lr.... Ive heard about a 460 rowland conversion for the 1911 style guns and the xd. but nothing for glock
Thx for the quick answer. Here in Glockland (Austria) we are very limited to handguns. IF you get a permission to own one (very rare, NO chance to get permission to carry), u've to think twice what weapon u will buy.
Great Vids, with a lot of usefull information. One Question... Whats ur oppinion in the rumors the glock 30 does not develop enough muzzle energy for .45 self defense ammunition. (bullet expendation).
Hey Partner! I bought a new pistol and want to see if you can do a review on it for me?
Its a Metro Arms "American Classic II"M1911 45 ACP. Its made in the Philipines and it has all the bells & whistles. This is one hell of a gun.It is only $420 new in the box!!! The fit, finish and reliability are GREAT too! It reminds me of the old rattling Colt I carried in my Army days. Well see if you can for me please.
From one old Tennessee boy to another, Merry Christmas Partner!
Hi Mr Hickok, three weeks ago I just moved to TN from MA and I have been following your videos for a good year and a half. You have educated a lot of people young and old and thanks for devoting your time. I just bought a glock 30 and love it. Id love to spend a sunday afternoon with you and sling some lead. Only 30 mins from Cheetam County:)
Love your vids Hick, i just bought my first glock (G30 sf) im kinda a newb to guns and noticed in this vid and on my 30 after i shoot all this what looks like gunpowder residue all over muzzle area of the gun. is that normal?, and why dont i see this on other guns?. Anyone that has a answer i would love to hear . Thanks
Great pistol. I have the Glock 30SF - and yes, they do make a G30 Short Frame. The 9 or 10 rd mags are quite comfortable with these. Great video Hickok45!
Hi Hickok45 I have been watching your videos for a while and I have learned some stuff about the flocks that I did not know I want to get a glock 27 or 23 for conceal carry which do you think would be better?
I bought a Glock 30 after watching Hickok's videos. It is one sweet little pocket cannon. Recoil is moderate. It shoots a little high at 20 yards in my hands but the group is tight. A little on the fat side (compared to a Glock 27 or a Kahr) for inside the belt carry but, it will work. Perhaps my Carhartt pants are just too tight to begin with.
It looks like you use rubber sleeves on your Glocks. We put bicycle inner tubes (2.25) turned inside out, on all of ours. $4 for a bunch. They last about a year with daily carry. If you haven't tried it, you might find it useful. I also put them on the AK's, Beretta's and even the PPK/S.
Glad I found your channel, very entertaining and educational. I appreciate that you don't find it necessary to use coarse language.
@PopsMedlong , Glad you found the channel. We used to use inner tubes, too, in the early days. Then I went to the Hogue slip-ons for years. Then I tried Decal Grip on my G30, just for kicks. Didn't think I liked it at first, but it grew on me, plus it kept the size of the grip pretty much original. Then I started just cutting the stuff and putting strips where I wanted them. Now, since discovering Talon Grips, I like them the best of everything I've tried.
I believe it's because on the glocks the slide release isn't really intended to be used as such. Just to lock the slide back because it's so small. I was told glocks are meant to be released by doing what he does. Pulling back on the handle. I have the glock 30 and this seems true because u barely have to pull the slide back and it releases. Actually it's easier than trying to mess with that little slide release button.
hickok i have a glock 30sf and i have recently ordered a glock 29sf...and was wondering how the recoil compares...i can handle the 30sf just fine, but im a little curious as to how much more the 10mm is over the .45...thanks
@manicdevery , Yes, it's not something I normally do. I was sitting in an awkward position, trying to mainly give the camera / viewers over my shoulder a good view, etc. I can't believe I actually did it, but you notice my instincts in keeping my thumb down against my hand so that the slide passed high over my thumb.
You really don't want to ever use this hold. manicdevery is right. In these types of videos I'm doing some strange things; generally this can cause pain!
I absolutely love my GLOCK 30. Ever since I got it my GLOCK 23 has been on Night-Stand Duty. I use it for my EDC and it works great with a FRONT-LINE Kydex IWB Holster. By far my Favorite GLOCK! By the way, when I buy my own place I look forward to trying to recreate a range like yours (not featured in this video) I absolutely LOVE your little range.
WTF is that blue thing on the end of the slide (front end) that you can clearly see on 3:55?!?! Is that burning powder?!?! PLEASE ANSWER!!! Thank you.
@crek1 if you get lucky on Factory ammo you can get a 100rd Box of Winchester White Box for $34.95 at Walmart so about 35 cents a round. If you reload your price will be much lower per round
@jtmoney606 I dont know how much the lcr cost, but I'd rather carry a g36 than an lcr. Go handle the 30 before getting it, a lot of people find them rather THICK
@FLATblacktical the LCR is about $415 plus the $229 for the crimson trace but i have held a glock 30 and liked it i dont like the glock 36 cause of the mag rd capacity is so low for a semi auto 6rds is weak
@jtmoney606 I'm not saying the g36 is the end all pistol. I just like how it feels compared to all other glocks. I don't know why an auto NEEDS more rounds? You must think 1911s are weak too.
@FLATblacktical actually my kimber holds 8+1 with the mags i use cause i have a magwell on my 1911 and yes thats 2 more rds which makes a big difference yeah its still a low rd count gun to be so big but with the way glock does there double stack mags i dont see why the 36 cant hold at least 8 the 27 holds 9 and its the same size gun!!!
@jtmoney606 With the pearce grip extension that most use on the g36 its 7+1. I'm not trying to argue though. The 36 is the only true single stack glock. It's much thinner than their standard double stack mag config in .45 acp. There are fans of the 30 and fans of the 36. Both are gtg in my book.
Glocks are my favorite, and always will be, but i was wondering if you would mind doing reviews on any other handguns, preferrably something by Browning?
I wouldn't want to fire a .45 in a sub compact. Me personally would like a little more grip if I am firing a .45 slug lol, but I am not as experienced as professor hickok45
@MrVidAnderson Thanks for the advice. I have leaning towards getting the SW 642 as this would be my first firearm and do not have much expierence with firearms I figured a revolver would be the easiest to use. But I have to admit the G36 has got my attention. Im just wondering if its easy to conceal. I understand it wont be as easy as the SW642 but thats OK. I am going to go to a range and rent a G30 or 36 and see how I like them.
You have improved my shooting ability, taught history of firearms, plus gave me many hours of fun shooting videos thanks for everything hickok. have a safe and happy 4th.
Whoa! Is that heat bluing at the muzzle end of the slide? Or just optical illusion from the video optics? Remember guys, Glock is a great tool to convert a bad guy into a "holy one."
they sell these at best buy surplus in spokane washington for an excellent price.

Actually it's easier than trying to mess with that little slide release button.

i rarely see you use the slide release button (you always seem to pull back on the slide to release it). is there any reason why you usually do so?

liameras11 1 year ago
hickok i have a glock 30sf and i have recently ordered a glock 29sf...and was wondering how the recoil compares...i can handle the 30sf just fine, but im a little curious as to how much more the 10mm is over the .45...thanks
gimmeagoodname 1 year ago
@gimmeagoodname , There's a difference, but you'll be able to handle it. The G30 is sweeter to shoot with a more comfortable recoil.

where did you get the flush mag for the glock 30? is it the 10rd flush for the 21?
RROOP3 1 year ago
@RROOP3 , No, it's a Glock 30 flush magazine; it's the only kind I keep. I have bought them at MidwayUSA

what is the rainbow on the end of the barrel? is that heat from the 45 cartridge or is it gun oil? see real well at 3:50
deadshot86 1 year ago
to those who watch this, at 3:40 he puts his left hand thumb on his right wrist. be leery of doing this for it can bite you pretty bad.
manicdevery 1 year ago

By the way, when I buy my own place I look forward to trying to recreate a range like yours (not featured in this video) I absolutely LOVE your little range.

how much does 1 round cost?
crek1 1 year ago
@crek1 on average $1.05
saj12100 1 year ago
@crek1 if you get lucky on Factory ammo you can get a 100rd Box of Winchester White Box for $34.95 at Walmart so about 35 cents a round. If you reload your price will be much lower per round

i have been thinking really hard about trading in my LCR with crimson trace for the glock30 but its a hard decision for me i love that LCR
jtmoney606 1 year ago
@jtmoney606 I dont know how much the lcr cost, but I'd rather carry a g36 than an lcr. Go handle the 30 before getting it, a lot of people find them rather THICK
FLATblacktical 1 year ago
@FLATblacktical the LCR is about $415 plus the $229 for the crimson trace but i have held a glock 30 and liked it i dont like the glock 36 cause of the mag rd capacity is so low for a semi auto 6rds is weak
jtmoney606 1 year ago
@jtmoney606 I'm not saying the g36 is the end all pistol. I just like how it feels compared to all other glocks. I don't know why an auto NEEDS more rounds? You must think 1911s are weak too.
FLATblacktical 1 year ago
@FLATblacktical actually my kimber holds 8+1 with the mags i use cause i have a magwell on my 1911 and yes thats 2 more rds which makes a big difference yeah its still a low rd count gun to be so big but with the way glock does there double stack mags i dont see why the 36 cant hold at least 8 the 27 holds 9 and its the same size gun!!!
jtmoney606 1 year ago
@jtmoney606 With the pearce grip extension that most use on the g36 its 7+1. I'm not trying to argue though. The 36 is the only true single stack glock. It's much thinner than their standard double stack mag config in .45 acp. There are fans of the 30 and fans of the 36. Both are gtg in my book.
FLATblacktical 1 year ago
Glocks are my favorite, and always will be, but i was wondering if you would mind doing reviews on any other handguns, preferrably something by Browning?
Ringwraith30 1 year ago
@originalxchin 13 rounds he says it in the video but it depends what magazine youre using of course
Ringwraith30 1 year ago
I wouldn't want to fire a .45 in a sub compact. Me personally would like a little more grip if I am firing a .45 slug lol, but I am not as experienced as professor hickok45

I've been a sig guy for 20 years... Bought my first glock & i'm loving it... Guess what my first glock is... Yep G30...

Whoa! Is that heat bluing at the muzzle end of the slide? Or just optical illusion from the video optics? Remember guys, Glock is a great tool to convert a bad guy into a "holy one."
