thanks for this.....it is also helpful for practicing fingering ....for use when learning /practicing a new piece of music. I am sure patterns emerge over time that eventually will become inheritant in ones playing....?
The patterns are a basic foundation and show fingering. Once you learn the patterns you like you can use your imagination and that results in your creative genius... but it doesn't mean anyone will like what one plays!
I really *hate* all these ''standards" in music. They keep making the music so repetateive. Basicly in my idea, if more people use the same chord pattern, and especially how it' is played, it will sound so much alike. Music needs to be fresh..and it should not be about repeating what has been done 1000''s of times before..Oh man...
@PowerRedBull Why don't you make some fresh music? Anyway, what did you expect to see when you clicked on a video that says '10 STANDARD left hand patterns' ?
@PowerRedBull I Partly agree, but like myself, i'm learning how to play the boogie with my lefthand, and this is great material to learn those patterns. If i master all these patterns, i'm ready to use my imagination and change those patterns to my liking..
This way i'll be able to make "fresh" music :) but first... master the basics!
I tried to pick this up several months ago and gave up in frustration. I tackled it again with much better results. I freely share my learning. You can find them by searching for YGSGH on Facebook and then following the URL to a page that you may find to be helpful in understanding the right hand pattern. Best of luck.
@Scooterskiff I can't post an URL here but if you search for YGSGH on facebook you will find a posting that includes an URL to a page that you may find to be helpful in understanding the right hand pattern
I played the rythym without the bass to try and see where Im wrong on the timing, one thing seems is I change my rythym or don't know when to go to the next chord, but why can't I play the parts together just to start, yes I know I need lots of practice but to practice doing the wrong thing is wrong itself right. I feel nuts.
Kool, grooves I just can't understand the timing to play them together one hand at a time no problem but the timing throws me every time very frustrating, I looked at this a year ago and gave up on it cause I couldnt understand the right hand now I just need to know what beats they come in and play together the first beat seems like it comes in on the two or an up beat its driving me bannanas please explain.?

awesome stuff, just learning piano and this is the sort of practice one needs to get good left and right hand isolation happening, very good disapline, just a comment to those who find this a little difficult to follow, go find a more suitable level to start with then come back.

10 great left hand patterns for the piano... once i see the first bar of the twelve bar blues how you've used it for the left hand, i can tell what the other 11 bars will have with the left hand, since the pattern is the same for the 1, the 4, and the 5 (in this case, C, F, and G); great video.
Awesome job, I especially liked the history lesson on where the styles came from. I bet you would do a great job on a walking bass tutorial. Maybe you already have, I'll go looking. Thanks so much!

the piano is an amazing and wonderful (and intimidating) instrument. if i ever could play these patterns even half as well as you do here, it'd be such a kick. bon ton roulet.
This is just the type of video I have been searching for brilliant esy to follow and really well presented.for some reason cannot buy online..great shame thanks for this though.

thank you. what a really nice video gift to offer up so others can attempt to learn and improve their piano skills.
i've always loved music and now am trying to learn to understand how all these great piano parts get played. your video is truly just what i've been looking for.
the piano is an amazing and wonderful (and intimidating) instrument. if i ever could play these patterns even half as well as you do here, it'd be such a kick. bon ton roulet.
peace to you and thanks again.

Excellent video, great that it lacks a patronising voice over and has some fantastic techniques.

Good thing about this tutorial: It doesn't take you for a complete moron, unlike other tutorials.
