  • Neither non-turbocharged Series 92 engine is as common than the turbocharged or turbo-aftercooled versions in automotive applications (trucks and buses), but may be for non-automotive applications like construction vehicles and naval (marine) applications.

  • worst shifts ive ever heard what a joke ever driven a 40 speed spicer it is three times as hard to shift

  • what was the original engine, a 318 Detroit?

  • @bj99ful

    Yes.

  • @bj99ful

Yes, the "318" 8V71N was the original engine. It was about 1975-78 that this Kenny was repowered to the rare 8V92N, which makes about 365 hp. The 8V92N was not as common as the 8V92T or 8V92TA.

  • now thats old school right there!!

  • Where is the farm?

  • 萌え☆

  • as a gravel train driver i think you could be hauling a bit more dirt, but it depends on the haul road you are using

  • I like those older ten speed roadranger sticks, the one where the range change is done with the silver metal box and colored peg on top, rather than today's switch on a side.:)

  • were does tag it is from almost looks like a MO tag

  • hey bud we almost have the same exact rig except ours is a red1975 kw with straight pipes we also even have the same box hoist "inverted and ours is also a silver 892

  • It sounds like its about to throw a rod any time soon....

  • i would love to restore this old cat

  • ilove the detroit diesels turbo of course

  • Neat old K-Whopper. She must have come with an 8v71 originally. Any plans to restore it?

  • I've seen 8v92t tuned up to 580hp in SAR kenworths if done right ,I have never seen a 8v92N though

  • I would like to see you cut a video of this rig, inside the cab, driving down the highway.

  • From 2:46 to 3:15 is my favorite part of the engine working hard, which sounds like a 1988 Setra S215 doing a slow takeoff.

  • Non-turbocharged 8V-92Ns are rare compared to the 8V-71Ns. The former variation mentioned was produced from 1973 to 1978.

  • You're absolutely right there. I mean i've only seen 1 truck in my life that had a 8v92N. I've seen more trucks with 318 detroit in them then i have with 8v92N's. Even on youtube, you're lucky if u can even find a video or two of a 8v92N on here.

  • Well, there are two videos on YT of an 8V-92N in a boat. Just type "Detroit 8V-92" into the search query.

  • if u can't find em, grind em

  • @bartzimm07

you know that's why they put a case around them, so they can't get away!

  • Awesome! I'd love to see more videos of this truck in the future!

  • The turboed 8v92 was alot quieter and of course more power. Used to drive a dump with one with 13spd.

  • What makes non-turbo Dee Dee two-cyclers louder than their turbocharged relatives?

  • The turbo acts like a second muffler plus giving you the power. A 8v92 turbo is noticeably quieter than a natural 8v92.

A natural 8v92 is only 350hp at the most I don't even know if its that maybe 300 a turboed 8v92 can be 475.

  • AFAIK an 8V-92N would be rated at 365-370 hp going by the fact that the 6V-92N produced up to 277 hp in automotive applications.

  • nice old kw u got there man she sounds awsome...i hope too see more movies of ur rig in the future

  • thanks man, i hope to get some more vids as well. That 'ol Detroit really does "wind-up" don't it??
