  • That was an excellent excerpt! Sounds like a good one! :D

And those videos were quite entertaining. Are you beating your sis this year too?

  • @Teper129 So far, but it's reeeeeeally close. Like, within 400 words close.

  • @bandgeek8408 Wow! That's crazy close...I won't say kick her butt...but as fellow band geeks, I'm thinking it loudly ;)

  • some tips on staying motivated maybe. That would be awesome!

  • sounds like a fun fun story. I like it.

  • Temporal Prime Directive !

  • 10,000 words and only on day 3? You're my hero.

  • @Fairyperson I totally agree. I can't understand how these people write so fast! Last year I hit 12 k on day 3, but that was only because I wrote 12 hours in a row. This year, I couldn't do that, so I'm only a couple thousand ahead.

  • I'm not doing NaNo this year: haven't the energy. Love the long hair btw; please don't have it cut!

  • Where do you find people to word war with when your friends aren't available to war with you?

How do you pick your writing music lists?

  • I like penny too from what you read, and your main character seems realistic, in that is probably something I would think about too (and I'm not really into girls).

Good luck nanowrimoing, I'm not in it because I'm not much of a long form writer, If its a long form narrative I'd rather save it to turn into an animation project someday. That's what I'd really like to do with my future, become an animator, and if I have story ideas floating round in my head it will be a while before I run out.

  • That clothes chip thing is a really good idea. I've always had a problem with people time traveling with their clothes somehow.

  • You could do a video on what to do if you want to do NaNo in some form, but can't do it due to commitments? For instance, I can't do it due to exams, but I intend to finish my NaNo novel from last year :p

  • BALLAH! WE ARE ON A ROLL!!!!! WOOT WOOT

    (*insert random rave house music)

  • Hey Bandgeek8408, i'm interested in doing NaNoWriMo but have no idea on what to do it on. Could you please make a video with tips on how to come up with a story or about good storytelling for NaNoWriMo. I'd really appreciate it!

  • what's your username?

  • Yup, typing my Nano story and eating candy, that is pretty much what I'm doing these days.

Yours sounds really good. I don't think I could do a time travel story, it gets very complicated and I might get lost, thinking four dimensionally all the time. So kudos to you.

  • ..yeah I'm definitely just voting for you this month :) Last month I helped DailyGrace win, but I really appreciate your channel a lot and you should win in your category.

I'm doing nano this year as well, hopefully I won't get stuck and have to suddenly turn it into a zombie apocalypse novella...

  • Yay! :D I'm excited! I'm thinking it will be a 3 hour word war. I can do it Tuesday after 4:00, Saturday any time and Sunday any time. Let me know what works for you.

    Awesome excerpt by the way!

  • I would be so paranoid had I had one of those clothing chips. The story sounds great! Wish you luck on finishing.

  • Your story sounds really fun! Mine is... falling apart. Who's that saying they're three thousand words behind? OH that'd be me. *hangs head*

  • Also what is your opinion on cheatery ways to increase your word count, there is a lot of people that believe due to the nature of NaNoWriMo it is okay but there are others who think that if you are just going to write 50,000 words that you want to delete then what is the point of writing it? I am of the first opinion, I have a character who doesn't use contractions, I write everything in the huge details and I write dream sequences completely unrelated to the plot.

  • Holy crap, my novel is at twelve thousand words, and is a time travel novel. What are the odds ... pretty high really seeing as how when you first mentioned your plot idea it gave me inspiration for mine ... now that I have remembered that I feel unoriginal (though our plots are vastly different).

  • Those nanowrimo links are both the same.

  • @thecindylorraine Oops, thanks. Fixed.

  • Now I feel guilty that I´m here on youtube instead of writing my NaNo novel... thanks a lot Matt >.<

  • You have almost exactly twice as much words written as me.

I'm pacing myself, I am right on track with the graph though...

I really like your story. I'm doing a story about an 11 year old psychic girl.

Sort of a realistic Harry Potter as a girl.

  • I sense ... an oral fixation? XD

    10,000 words already?! WOW!

Oh, that jumpsuit ... ;) XD

    Nice excerpt, Matt!

    - Jason

  • I actually like it a lot more than I thought I would ^___^
