he is just speaking the truth - my alma mater is a much better place now that the disgrace named Gene Nichol is no longer President - i will consider once again contributing to the annual fund which I skipped this year because of what Nichol began doing to my alma mater
I am sad to be a W&M alum connected to this guy, but happy to see everyone's comments. The Sex Worker's Art show only became an issue because news people wanted to sensationalize what was happening at William and Mary. It is a non issue. The school supported the right to free speach, but more to the point, provided an event that was wanted by the student body. This guy upsets me greatly.
The art show was not held on campus. This guy is an idiot. The president of W&M was loved by all of the students and faculty. So much so that when he was fired, the faculty went on strike. I love how this guy talks about Duke. I bet he does not know that Duke held the same art show only a day ealier. Or that George Mason in fairfax which he is a rep. from hosted the show the next day. I'm glad this guy is from fairfax because if he was my representive "I would hope he would not seek a new term"
Delegate Hugo should come to the College and see what the student's, faculty and staff have to say before he speaks for all of us in front of his fellow delegates.
I am embarassed that this man has been elected to the Virginia House. I hope he decides to never run again because he does not understand the bill of rights. I believe that representatives of any state should be required to read the bill of rights and the definition of pandering before they open their ignorant mounths.
As an undergraduate at the College of William & Mary, I am angry that ignorance has prevailed to such a great extent and people like Raskolinikhov and thephonographsniper buy into the arguments of people that would have the College revert to discrimination and the stifling of free speech.
Nichol had very little to do with a national tour you call "such shenanigans," read your papers and get the facts straight. The only thing he did was to make a decision which prevented a very expensive lawsuit, which as one of our law professors said, would have won in federal court under 1st amendment grounds.
I hope the public listens to the overwhelming support by faculty and students rather than a few alumni who have bullied their way into the laps of the BOV.
I hate alumni like you who are ruining a college that the student love, stealing a president we love over stupidness. Food for thought the Sex Worker's Art Show also preforms at the following schools:
