its not 1.6, your thinking of "counter strike" this is a half life mod, the same as counter strike is, they use the same engine

I know cs is a half life mod, people refer any half life related thing as using 1.6 engine. Even steam will refer half life in the games list as "half life 1.6". Same with opposing force or blue shift. But yah, 1.6 engine has a more known meaning with counter strike.

no counter strike (1.6) is a mod of the half life engine the same as source is a mod of the hl2 engine, and half life isn't called half life 1.6 that's just dumb:p i have my games list right in front of me there's no 1.6 there,because 1.6 is a mod of the original half life engine, i actually have the original half life / cs 1.6 case and original disks, it is not referd to as half life 1.6, ive been playing cs since it was released, i just typed half life 1.6 in steam forums with no matches ;)

Ok, I don't know why I was thinking 1.6 was the all around half life engine version as both games have gotten their own updates. I do swear that at one point in ancient steam versions, I saw half life 1.6. Unless 1.6 was an engine update at one point. What I was referring 1.6 to was the graphics portion of the engine as both cs and hl look the same, but thats stupid anyway :D. Yes, you are 100% correct.

nah its never said 1.6 and back in the day cs was at 1.5 before steam, here's a bit of knowledge I'll share with you as well, did you know that the half life engine is a heavily updated version of the quake engine? oh and if anyone is looking for a cool hl mod i seriously suggest you look at the specialists mod, its probably the best mod out if you can imagine a matrix version of hl with dives slow motion for dodging bullets, kung fu the works, its defiantly worth a try, i'm hooked XD

Yep, I knew gold source was heavily altered quake engine since I read that book "half life: raising the bar". I have no life in my desolate basement, so I've leaned a lot. Hah, Specialists is also one of my favorite mods! I also really liked poke 646 and sven coop. I've been unable to contain my excitement for Black Mesa since my disappointment with hl source. Geek for life :)

Bah, I beat both hl2 and the episodes, and in the end of it all I consider HL1 and all of the 1.6 mods much more fun than source. Call me crazy, but the black mesa facility, the characters, and weapons are much more interesting.
