I wonder though if it's more like an image recognition (association) then reading...Per example, if she would knows the letters n o s e and would know the meaning but you would of never showed her the word together ..would she get it? Is it more like when I show my son an image and he can point what it is? That why I haven't commit in buying the program. Sorry for my gramatical errors as I'm not english. My question is by no means to take off that your girls is smart . :)
At first, I think that's how she learned the words ('sight reading'). That's why I began writing the words out rather than using flash cards- so the words would look slightly different each time. Now my daughter is 23 months old, she points out words I've never introduced her to, and she tries to say them. She doesn't speak new words perfectly, but she gets really close. The YBCR program also teaches phonics, not just 'sight reading'. Thanks for your comment!
Yes, we used the Your Baby Can Read Program. I bought the whole series with the books, flash cards, DVDs, etc. We started Keira on the DVDs at 3 months old. When she was 14 months old, I noticed that she was clapping each time she read "clap" in the YBCR book. So I began writing words on the magnetic board to see what she recognized. I was stunned when she recognized a lot of the words I wrote!
