  • Just came across your videos. Glad I did!

This is one of my favorite songs you play.

  • @SneakyTarsier Thanks- hard to believe it was almost 5 years ago. I have a bunch of new stuff I still have to upload.

  • this is so awesome.

  • Thanks- I can't say the same for your username though....:D

  • Sorry- I accidentally just removed your post. I tried to post a link in my last comment but YouTube doesn't allow it :D Just go to bryanrtylermusic com and go to the Ramps page under the Instruction category for a full explanation

  • That's a ramp I made for it- I have them on all of my basses.

  • haha this is cool... Who the hell needs guitar and drums anyway... I'd love to hear how a band would sound with 3 people on bass doing different things like you did in this by yourself. I enjoyed this video, so I thank you.

  • @SuperJoel193 you should check out some of the stuff that victor wooten and steve bailey did together, it's 2 basses and drums; not exactly 3 bassists but impressive none the less. a good example is "a chick from corea"

  • very nice

  • no strap screws?

  • At that point I had removed the preinstalled ones and was going to put in some Dunlop strap locks, but hadn't drilled the slightly larger holes yet.

  • oh i see

  • hi ,

Who knows if what I have I am MM4 green is the same that you've given ch I bought on ebay from Oregon.

    compliments for your technique.

    Andrea from Italy (ROME)

  • It appears that way but it's actually not- my hands/forearms are oddly shaped and looked painfully twisted when they're barely bent at all. I also keep my plucking wrist just barely bent- I try to avoid bending my wrists as much as possible as a parent of mine had to get carpal tunnel surgery. They actually bend the most when getting high on the neck.

  • wow..very nice..gud job men...i love your bass!!

  • ok man, thats really cool!

  • bravo its fucking good

  • one word, awesome. keep it up man.

  • Have I seen that bass from the Talkbass forums or am I on crack...LOL!

  • Yep- sold it forever ago, but it's been posted on TB.

  • hey wahts that above the humbucker?

  • Finger-rest I think.

  • Thumb* sorry.

  • very inspiring, especially to aspiring bassists!!!

  • amazing man, love your bass colour and sound,

  • Beautiful in every way. Someday, ill be able to do this.

  • In this video I was using a Boss RC-20XL loop station. I now use a Looperlative looper for all of my looping stuff, but the Boss pedal is very useful for the price.

  • sweet colour

  • great man:)

  • A heavy attack is still easily produced by plucking upwards through the string or playing over another area where the ramp is not located. It's possible for a ramp to let you play faster, as your recovery time after plucking the string is shortened, but that depends on the player. Its benefits are often more noticable if you're using three or four fingers to pluck with. Consistency is the biggest problem when using so many fingers, and a ramp can be a big help in that.

  • The real benefits of a ramp (to me anyways) are a consistent attack with a quick recovery time because your fingers are only allowed to go in as deep as the ramp is. Without using a ramp, your fingers go in however much distance they do with each stroke. With a radiused ramp, they all go in the same depth, so your plucking depth and recovery time is equal for all your strokes, and a ramp that is close to the strings can limit the amount you dig in, facilitating a lighter attack.

  • The ramp was indeed a homemade one I made out of plywood and radiused with a sander- definitely not a pro job like my other ones :D

  • nice ramp, what kind of wood did you make it out of?

  • great! the ramp was made by you or you bougth it? looks like home made

  • The ramp (the piece of wood) is below the position of where I pop my strings, so it doesn't interfere atall.

  • What is the ramp for?

  • dose that peace of wood not make it hard to pop aggressively?

  • another beautiful song of you keep making more!

and can u tell me how your bass is tuned please?

  • i like it. seems as if you were workin on some construction in the background and said, "fuck it, i feel like jamming"

  • wow tite, check out my tapping

wut kidn of bass is that?

  • its a musicman singray

  • Very lovely sound you got on your bass.

    Nice Piece

  • wow...i love ur style and ur bass, thank u for this piece

    -Nauman, fellow bassist

  • It was nearly 100 degrees that day :D More important than my shirt is to make sure my camera isn't crotch-level next time ;)

  • I think we're all thankful you're wearing pants either way. Mad bass a beautiful piece aswell.

  • You're awesome!

Put on a shirt, though. XD

  • why dont people get the harmonic thing. there is no wrong note in music, as there is no set time to play a note. thats wot makes music. great vid also , keep them coming

  • Thats what I was implying by saying you have to know how to listen to music for it to sound right.

To someone who isnt familiar with music it would sound oddly timed, or like it doesnt fit.

  • you are very tallent, i spend your music listen everywere...

  • I actually like the odd timed harmonic.

I noticed a couple people said they didnt like it.

But you have to know how to listen to music for it to sound right.

    5/5 yet again.

  • That's a ramp attached to it. I have them on all of my basses. A ramp is a block of wood radiused to match the fretboard radius- it allows your fingers to maintain a consistent shallow plucking depth, allowing for faster recovery and making multifinger plucking quite a lot easier.

  • yo wut be up wit the pick guard????

  • Sounds killer Bryan!

I'm a TBer as well. I think you might know me!

  • I love this, it's really catchy, the only thing I dislike about is is the odd timed harmonic, other than that I can't at all complain.

  • put out an album so I can buy

seriously, I now feel like making my own

do you have a website or something?

  • oh my god... i have just bought a 'ray, but have never really dicovered the power of looping...thankyou for expanding my mind

  • great playing, nice bass

  • nice song man!!

  • I don't know what's sexier--that trans green 'Ray, or you in you undies! Grrrr, tiger!

(haha. jeff_bass28 from talkbass. first tb'er I've come across on here! How ya been?)

  • oh yeah...nice tune!

  • Thanks for the kind words- it's a Boss RC-20XL (selling it to get a Looperlative).

  • Awesome.

  • Very very awesome man! Is that the EHX 16sec delay you're using?

  • Very cool man. Nice tone too.
