My friend had a 69 SuperBee with a 383 but had to get rid of it because he was starting a family. The sound is exactly the same! We'd always go through parking lots and trip car alarms which seemed to be a regular occurance with that car. Sick man, just sick!
@dervectra Leftist, global warming nuts, democrats, communists, socialists, tree huggers, hippies, Europeans, ricers and Obama - split that up between the 32 and thats who dislikes it lol.
It doesn't matter how much it tilts left to right, what matters is how much it tilts front to back. My first car was a '67 chrystler newport that could toss the body like that. Yours is pretty, great condition, and it's that a 440, it's single carb, double barrel no induction. I've seen dusters from the 70's flop better. Nice ride, but don't race me for pinks if you want to keep it. Awesome ride nonetheless.
Sounds and looks nice.... but how much hp are you claiming??? sounds like it doesn't have a lot of compression... maybe 450 hp but I can't believe 610 hp... kind of optimistic... is that at the crank or at the back wheels? I had a 70 Roadrunner 440 with a built engine, 12:1 comp big cam etc... and it had a lot more solid rumble at idle... in fact it wouldn't idle much below 1000 rpm... but would pull and carry the front wheels launching at 6500 rpm. Nice car you have just the same.
@stevezone OK, I don't know how many people can determine HP by listening... It was closer to 625hp. I did one pass at the track because I don't want to cage the car. My run was 2.40 60 foot, 13.2 @ 118mph. The track did not allow me to make another run because they know with that MPH that it is an easy 11 sec car. 11 sec, you need as a min a roll bar. This car has stock interior. 595ft lbs of torque. It pulled easy to 7000, made power through 6800 before dropping off. 10.1:1 compression.
@stevezone HEAVILY worked aluminum heads, 260@ .050 solid cam with .590 lift. It had way more than my hemi does now with 550. But my Hemi is a 9:1 motor, small cam, idles at 650rpm and has 570ft/lbs of torque. Thanks for the compliment about the car, but what is heard and what is real are two different things.
@MrBruceBartsch Traded her for my Polara and some $. The place where I traded it did a complete no expense spared restoration and brought her back to 100% factory stock. Individual in Texas bought the car for his collection. It probably won't see the light of day again, but time will only tell.
Ahhh, the days when Mopar engineering was second to none and even the plain jane Valiants and Darts looked good. Get to the B bodies and they were downright handsome. They all struck fear in the hearts of lesser makes, from the 340 up. I miss them. Thanks for posting your awesome ride.
welcome to the world of pushrods :) Im a ford guy but when it comes to true muscle cars from the 60's-70's, its mopar or no car. I would hate to pull up next to this car at a redlight in my 01 Mustag GT lol.
@scatpack440 Personally I would still try to get you to race just to hear that monster roar at WOT. I wish they made cars like they used to, pushrod big blocks with a carb on top. Sick of all the ricers and cocky BMW, Audi, etc drivers.
Nice car and awesome sound. To the people who hate this, I am sure they would like it better if it had that stupid little V-tec thing they put in Hondas.
was your car a trailer queen, because All I ever see is alot of cars just sitting and idling, If you can't drive it and enjoy having it whats the point?.
@surrynet Use those fingers you seem to be so quick on the keyboard to check out the other videos of mine with the car being driven harder and faster than you ever could. Haven't seen any of your muscle car videos on the web yet showing us how it's done. Typical wannabe. Stay in the sand box and let the big boys play with the real rides.
It doesn't sound like much on video, but when I went to a classic car show and actually heard these damn things in person, Holy crap! I felt the ground shaking. That is in no way meant to be a hyperbole; You literally feel the ground moving beneath you.
@YoItsMePalmer Car was traded 2 years ago for the 63 Dodge you see in my other videos. The car went to Best of Show automotive and underwent a high $ restoration back to 100% stock. The car sold to a buyer in Texas who paid $110,000 after the restoration was completed. You can go to best of show automotive web site and look under their sold inventory.
Fumes! haha. I'd rather watch/listen to it on video than have to breath in the fumes! I have a 1969 superbee, I started it once this year, pretty much polluted the whole neighborhood!
@zcg3 Thanks, hard to duplicate the sound of a big block, but I love what the 6.1 Challengers can do in the corners and with the brake pedal. This one don't do that so well. I WILL have a new Chally one day, they are awesome.
@scatpack440 Too many electronics, etc. I had a 1965 Stingray. It was a pleasure to work on. Easy removal of spark plugs, setting the timing / dwell. Piece of cake. Cars nowadays have to be taken to a mechanic with a computerized diagnostic machine. If one little electronic device should fail, then the whole car is down. I'll take yours over the Challenger any day.
@scatpack440 Careful...don't ask YouTube users to do more work than they have to, it might just send them into convulsions from all the blood rushing out of their heads and into their finger.
@oakley175 With the six pack taking it easy running on the center carb cruising @ 2700rpm netted over 18mpg. Get into it and open the 1350 cfms and watch the mpgs drop. Cruising @ 3300 rpm (80mph) brought about 12mpgs. All things considered exceptional #'s with a 625hp engine. Key is proper tuning of the six pack carbs.
@oakley175 u must be 12 to ask that question. mileage.lol.if you have to ask, you cant afford it, and there is no such thing as mileage with these cars, theres a lesson for ya.......
@Piro42 it is because it probably is warm... it was warmed up then turned off and started again for the coolness of it. thats what i did with my video of my 1963 Nova
@theRDRman See the video of it in the garage when I start it and take it out of the garage. This is how the car stats every time. So does my Hemi Polara now. See the videos.
@theRDRman No choke, just carbs tuned right. Idle circuit is everything. My Polara has no choke and will idle @ 650 stone cold. When you can dial in a carb magic happens, my buddy is a carb doctor and knows how to dial ANY carb to perfection!
@bzster It is difficult to say EXACTLY what it is but it is more of a total package, length of the exhaust pipes, the way they are bent and also the tips. Thanks for your kind words.
@bzster Well a 448 CI big block Mopar with the mods has a lot to do with how the car sounds. I did not hear many other Mopars that sounded like this machine. 2 1/4" TTI headers make a change in tone as well. The way a header is bent and how long it is also makes a difference. It also had an 3" X pipe and was 3" manderel bent front to back through the Magnaflows.
Obviously none of those chevelles happened to run into a 440 road runner? spent my early years at the strip and Chevy never hung with the Mopars and that is a fact!
@SixSpeedSS The heads are performer RPM and they were done by a local guy in Vermont by the name of Duane Porter (no BS) 10.1:1 compression with Ross full floating pistons with .990 pins. Rods are stock shot peened and magnafluxed 440 pieces. Ran AWESOME on 91 octane gas. 36 deg total timing with MSD 6AL and pro comp tach.
Huh, lol, guess that guy was destined to do heads. Thanks much for the additional specs/details. I don't even have another classic car yet, but just this 76 440 van has got me excited to be playing with a big block Mopar once again. I can't leave anything stock, but like the stock look. I'm kinda thinking tame duration, good heads, and blow through turbo to help this van in load hauling and merge lanes lol.
Thanks again, really enjoy watching and hearing your old Bee.
That sounded awesome, Would sure love some more details on the drivetrain, and specifically the engine. I've recently decided to get back into musclecars. Specifically Mopars, and just got a orig. 440 Sportsman van as a parts hauler to start with.
What gears did the Bee have, and heads, cam, cubes, exhaust, etc.? I'm wanting to make big power, but with some F.A.S.T. inspired ideas, like factory magnum exhaust manifolds, & just a real mild outward look. Like this Bee.
As I responded in another clip 440 six pack (.030 over) with stock carbs, 1350cfm. I'll go a little further in this one. FULLY ported Edelbrock heads, 1.5 Crane roller rockers, solid lifter .558 intake and exhaust custom grind cam with 260 @ .050 duration, 18 thou tight lash, TTI headers (2 1.4" primaries into 3.5" collectors down to 3" X-pipe right back through Magnaflow mufflers then to the back 3" to stainless tips. This netted over 625hp. 4 speed 833 stock trans, McLeod dual disc clutch
Stock Dana 60 sure grip with 3.54 gears. Ran 255/65/15's up front and 275/65/15's in the rear on factory 15X7 Rallye wheels. Stock look with a big surprise when I dropped the hammer!
Very impressive. I love both how stock the car looked from the outside, and then who hard it pulled. As well, impressive that it pulled the 3.54's no problem, with that duration.
hey budy fuck off. the 69 roadrunner was only available with a 440 in special order. any roadrunner after 1970 is a pollution controlled knock off and yes in 72-73 440 roadrunners were made, but not nearly as many as there 400 motor. if you dont believe me try to find a matching numbers 1969 plymouth roadrunner with a 440. i know they only made about 400 and if you do actually find one of them i will amazed.
Hey dickweasel, if it's available in special order, then doesn't that make it AVAILABLE?! Never heard of an A12 package, offered in 69 1/2, the 440 six pack? You contradict yourself when you say "AFTER '70 were pollution controlled knock offs" does that not leave the 1970 Road Runners available with the 440 and the HEMI? If there were 400 of them, then they are out there, they only made 9 '71 Hemi 'Cuda convertibles 4 speeds, but they have located 8 of them so 400 is not THAT relatively rare.
hey scatpack440 just wanted to let you know the roadrunner wasnt available with a 440. although many people put 440's in them at a later date. only a handful of special order 440 roadrunners were made. most 440 motors you see will be stamped by dodge, and most 426 hemi motors will be plymouth.
As of 69 1é2 the road runner was available with the 440 six pack, the A12 option. In 1970 the Road runner has EVERY engine available as well as 1971. In 1972 the biggest engine available was the 400. Check your info especially with a name like MoparManiac
Super Bee was based on the Dodge Coronet. The road runner and super bee are both B-bodies. Standard engine for both was the 383 with optional 440 and 426 hemi. In 69 1/2 a special engine was available and continues through 71, the 440 six pack. That is what my car is here.
Once I did the 1st mods, it ran 13.4 @ 113MPH with a 2.65 60 foot bogging off the line. Easily in the low 12's if it hooked. Never got it back to the track before I traded the car.
My friend had a 69 SuperBee with a 383 but had to get rid of it because he was starting a family. The sound is exactly the same! We'd always go through parking lots and trip car alarms which seemed to be a regular occurance with that car. Sick man, just sick!

Stock look with a big surprise when I dropped the hammer!
scatpack440 2 years ago
Awesome, thanks for the details.
Who did the heads? Performer RPM intake, or????
Compression/Pump Gas?
That's some decent sized primary tubes?
Very impressive. I love both how stock the car looked from the outside, and then who hard it pulled. As well, impressive that it pulled the 3.54's no problem, with that duration.
Thanks for the details, really appreciate it.

hey budy fuck off. the 69 roadrunner was only available with a 440 in special order. any roadrunner after 1970 is a pollution controlled knock off and yes in 72-73 440 roadrunners were made, but not nearly as many as there 400 motor. if you dont believe me try to find a matching numbers 1969 plymouth roadrunner with a 440. i know they only made about 400 and if you do actually find one of them i will amazed.
moparmaniac666 2 years ago
Hey dickweasel, if it's available in special order, then doesn't that make it AVAILABLE?! Never heard of an A12 package, offered in 69 1/2, the 440 six pack? You contradict yourself when you say "AFTER '70 were pollution controlled knock offs" does that not leave the 1970 Road Runners available with the 440 and the HEMI? If there were 400 of them, then they are out there, they only made 9 '71 Hemi 'Cuda convertibles 4 speeds, but they have located 8 of them so 400 is not THAT relatively rare.
scatpack440 2 years ago
@scatpack440 LOL Dickweasel. I haven't heard anyone say that since 1979. Awesome!
tallatron 2 years ago 2
hey scatpack440 just wanted to let you know the roadrunner wasnt available with a 440. although many people put 440's in them at a later date. only a handful of special order 440 roadrunners were made. most 440 motors you see will be stamped by dodge, and most 426 hemi motors will be plymouth.
moparmaniac666 2 years ago
As of 69 1é2 the road runner was available with the 440 six pack, the A12 option. In 1970 the Road runner has EVERY engine available as well as 1971. In 1972 the biggest engine available was the 400. Check your info especially with a name like MoparManiac

Super Bee was based on the Dodge Coronet. The road runner and super bee are both B-bodies. Standard engine for both was the 383 with optional 440 and 426 hemi. In 69 1/2 a special engine was available and continues through 71, the 440 six pack. That is what my car is here.

you make any passes on the track wit it?
Bent099 2 years ago
Once I did the 1st mods, it ran 13.4 @ 113MPH with a 2.65 60 foot bogging off the line. Easily in the low 12's if it hooked. Never got it back to the track before I traded the car.

@MRkallek91 i was only saying diesel can never achieve sound as raw as this.
this thing sounds sick, i bet you got laid with it.
im making a custom 3" exhaust system for my 83 chevy van diesel 6,2.
almost done, just needs the H pipe in the middle, but sounds cool now too.
