AMD Bulldozer processor have a huge weak spot in their architecture preventing it from even performing better than a 2500k i5 (FX8150). Wow 12 cores.... so what? Box fan is very weak. With it my CPU was keeping temp at about 36 deg. Couple of months later I bought a new fan and the idle temp is 18 deg. So keep that in my mind :)

This cpu runs HOT! Just picked this up i rushed to install that might be the reason why but I'm at 51c at stock setting idle and I have the corsair h60. I plan on trouble shooting as I had to go to work soon after install but I've read online they do run hot. Plan on reinstalling h60 and bios update will post update

You either have cooling issues, used too much paste, too little paste, or the H60 is not seated properly on the CPU. I own the X6 1090T myself. I actually just got it about a week ago. It is a very cool running processor. My temps are 24 idle, and 40 under load. I run 3.8 ghz on 1.35 volts.

@BeardedVillain From what i've heard, and seen in my previous computers, intel has AMAZING processors but the worlds shittiest Graphics cards. Now AMD on the other hand, has moderately good processors with pretty damn good graphics cards, while they constantly swap paint with the private leader in Graphics cards, the Rival GPU king, Nvidia. So it all comes down to the specific card, and the specific processor model, im sure theres some perfect combo out there, expensive tho..

@JamieSCOBell i got 2 enermax fans for the top of the casing taking in air and one lousy stock fan from thermal take at the side. Got another thermaltake one( slightly better) as an exhaust at the back. Seems to be running cooler now. I think i'll get 1 more quality fan for the side intake so my gpu doesnt hit too high of a temperature. Thanks for the tip thought =D

i just bought this processor along with a gtx 560 and 8 gb ram. It appears that my 1090t is overheating even though i dont overclock any thing! I was playing bf 2 maxed out and it ran very well, however i could feel waves of heat from the computer. My gtx 560 seems to be running cool but the 1090t is seriously overheating. I am currently using the stock cooler. Can i turn off 2 cores or sth?

surprisingly it runs starcraft 2, skyrim, fallout 3, COD MW2 with 90% of settings on ultra & at 1680x1050 reolution maintains above 40 fps 97% of the time

so with the gtx 560ti it would absolutly demolish these games

2x4GB ddr3 1600mhz cl9 costs less than double 2x2GB costs if u can afford get 2x4GB (8GB)

get an AM3+ board & u can upgrade to new 8core FX cpu in future

i have this processor. after activating the full 6 cores, i have no idea how to deactivate them. they use too much voltage - about 1.4v, and it is making my CPU at 44*c which is fine but due to the high voltage, my fan speed rises up alot higher to keep it at 44*c and the fan rpg ranges from 2800 - 4800 rmp and the acoustics is bothering me.

It was either nab one of these processors or replacemy entire setup with one of the new A8 processors and board.

@hikinguphigh I've got a 1100T ;) and it automaticly does that, when it needs more power, 3 cores will be a kind of shutdown, and the other 3 will boost up to 3.7Ghz (the 1100T.. the 1090T will go to 3.6Ghz) Its a VERY good CPU ;)

@BIOSHOCKFOXX The advantage of the black edition is that its multiplier is unlocked, allowing for better overclocking. If you don't need the overclocking, then you can just get a normal Phenom with the same specs.

@omfgg3tlost Not really :/ AMD is actually known for having really loud factory heat sinks. I myself own a quad phenom II black edition and the stock heat sink keeps it cool but is extremely loud. Also replace the thermal compound with your own (I recommend arctic silver 5 or antec formula 7), but yea us AMD users know to buy an after market heat sink.

@Dp153 @Dp153 thats a sweet rig i would add a cooler master v8 cart because you will not be able to oc much with the stock cooler cuz of the 135 or 125w cpu (cant remember, but they run hot!) u can always upgrade cooler later and the six core is alot nicer than the 4 core cuz you can future proof your rig by doing so, even tho games dont support 6 cores yet.

p.s. the v8 will do much better than the 212

Used to prefer intel, but today's research has me sold to AMD. I'll be building my first computer in 4 months and I googled "best gaming motherboard" and the Crosshair IV Extreme made the top of the list (funny how the IV formula shows up in the suggestions ->) I used to be up to date with tech trends, and I remember I stopped looking into top of the line products ~2 years ago when the Intel quad core was the hype at $999... AMD added 2 cores, it's clocked the same and costs less than $200 =)

@ThaBizit this is better than the 2600, a 2600 needs to be overclocked a bit to keep up. a 970 is where the intel takes over the AMD, but costs nearly 3 times as much
