  • uu, pick me! :)) Are you speaking of a "spelling " mistake? First time I saw it it was on 1.49 at the verse: You're the Way, the Truth, THE Life.

  • Such a wonderful song

  • God bless.Wonderful song.

  • I did a Romanian translation

  • Hey, that is one of my favorites!

I truly feel that both Townend and the Getties have written some wonderful hymns and we occasionally sing this one at my church.

  • Awesome!

  • whenever any one claims to be authentic and that others are heretical based on the ' firm foundations of scripture'- remember what they mean is THEIR OWN interpretation of scripture...

  • One of the most amazing hymns to come out in years! It's like we've been in a singing desert for years.

  • Found mistake: "Saviour" spelt the UK way but on the same page "Counselor" spelled US way! Or is there another mistake? £5 please...

  • @pphainein No mistake there but a spelling mistake :P

  • Love the song, shame about the annoying bass line LOL!

  • @rcatchpo where is it annoying?

  • If Bob Dylan did a song like this, it would sound cool... compared to this version here. Sounds good with a harmonica solo in it.

  • Heaven's champion is not really a dubious line. The definition of a 'champion' is a 'victor in a challenge or contest'. Jesus Christ won the greatest victory ever - over sin and death and deserves praise as Heaven's champion over both these things.

  • Furthermore, God is glorified through our satisfaction in him. Maybe Beautiful Savior isn't the best song out there but it certainly isn't heretical in context. I know where you come from when you pick apart a songwriter's lyrics; I do it as well. But posting something on youtube for people whose spiritual walk is likely not to be affected by "heaven's champion" makes you sound legalistic and arrogant. In this case, don't pick this song for your repertoire and pray for more biblical music.

  • I understand what you are trying to say - in this age where deception of the church is in full swing and where aposatsy is taking its toll of Christinas not grounded in firm foundations of Scripture- we owe it to the Lord not to be lacking in our precision to do things rightfully and in order - someones belief may depend on it

  • Do you know where I come from? I have seen heresy and decpetion tear churches apart, seen good people leave thir love for the Lord- in these days where heresy is taking its toll of people not grounded full in Scripture, mainly sadly young people, I owe my Lord to discern as He told me that none would believe a lie where Truth was available

  • I have replied to you on your channel

  • This is such a wonderful song! <3

  • :) I think the lyrics of this song are really meaningful. X

  • what a beautiful savior, beautiful mind, beautiful soul, beautiful spirit, wonderful counselor!

  • The Best I have been able to find that's easy to sing along to, thank you.

  • Beautiful song, thank you for posting

  • love this song! so totally true! we sung this song at KYCK '09, did anyone else go? we sing this at church sometimes, it's so awesome!

  • greatest song ever. Love it one of my fav songs. Go to church each sunday. sing it there. GO JESUS! wE KNOW GOD'S GOING TO COME BACK TO EARTH ONE DAY SO WE MAY AS WELL REJOICE BEFORE HE COMES AS WELL AS WHEN WE ARE IN HEAVEN

  • He is already here.

  • Best song ever! Star of the Morning, Heaven's Champion... It says it all! Praise, raise your hands and sing! SING!

  • Heavens champion is a dubious line- a champion implies the best over all other of that kind- e.g. men. There is no other being such as Jesus Christ- He is unique therefore He cannot be champion- there are many other worthy terms such as Saviour and King- lets not create a different Jesus

  • @pianohbc I think you're stretching the semantics a bit too far. The New Living Translation of Hebrews 12:2 calls Jesus the "Champion who initiates and perfects our faith" (most people know translations that say "Author and Finisher" or "Author and Perfecter"). The bible scholar I took NT from in college really prefers this translation of that verse. I don't think it's changing our definition of Jesus at all.

  • I see your point but there is a truer depth in meaning the closer we stay to original texts, otherwise we can be at risk of a slightly different meaning- bless you

  • Please shut up. No one is creating a different Jesus. Are your critiques meant to reach the writer of the song and possibly cause him to change the lyrics to meet your standard? Or are they meant to show people how faithful you are to being scripturally accurate. Heavens champion may be dubious but most people think of Jesus being a champion in the sense that he has conquered death and sin. Praise God for songs that exalt him.

  • if you study heresy and the history of deception starting with the serpents words in the garden you will easily see that context and meaning can chnage easily if we are not cautious about what we sing about our Lord. Our modern songs are not always as Scripturally based as some of the older hymns and can deal with "I" more than He

  • I agree that our modern songs are not always scripturally based, however, calling something or implying that it is heretical is a strong charge. I'm sure that Townend or whoever wrote this song is not a heretic or trying to deceive people. And yes, many hymns today are man-centered, unfortunately, but even the psalmists speak of themselves in relation to what God has done. It is not a law to only sing about God's attributes and characteristics; we exult in what he's done in us as well.

  • The emphasis is different

  • @pianohbc You need a dictionary. From my old Webster's New Collegiate: CHAMPION n 1: WARRIIOR, FIGHTER 2: a militant advocate or defender 3: one that fights for another's rights or honor 4: a winner

I think especially definition 2 & 3 would apply? The sense in 3 is from a medieval trial by combat, where a better warrior could step in and fight for a weaker; where there is one who fights for another, and wins, there is a champion; thus no dubiousness!

Peace in Christ, to all who desire it!

  • One of my favorite songs in the world!

  • who is singing this version?

  • y friday - theyre really good

  • Thanks!

  • Stuart Townend

  • I can not sing this song without my hands raised!!!!

  • I think you probably can actually

  • I can when my heart isn't into singing it. ya, just like any other song.

  • If this is your idea of "spreading the good news" you have a lot to learn.

  • What a blessed song... We've had on our wedding. Lovely memories! Thanks for posting...

  • yeyy!

  • or is it when he sings it twice? cause if it is its because that part is so true!

  • there isnt a mistake!

yeyy so when do i get the £5??

    lol =]

  • LOL...cheque's in the mail.

  • @YoungCalvinist08 I've spotted TWO mistakes that keep appearing!! Nice vid though.

  • luv this song!! xx

  • I love the screen name :)

  • Play this song loud in your home, and see how it changes the atmosphere. It invokes the presence of the Holy Ghost! Amen, even so, come, Lord Jesus!

  • Peach in His name. I never knew we could do that: just play a song to 'invoke' the presence of the Holy Ghost. It sounds like a genie in a bottle. The Holy Ghost moves as it pleases Him, not in automatic response to songs being played (1 Corr 12:11). With love in Christ.

  • I know the Holy Spirit is all around us...I was just pointing out that when you enter into that special place of worship with Jesus it just makes you long for a better country... a heavenly one! Hebrews 11:16

  • I don't thibk that is the reason I posted the video...

  • @YoungCalvinist08

Brother - not all Christians feel the presence and overwhelming love of God through reading the scriptures. Some simply rejoice and feel filled with the Spirit when singing praises to God.

I would say I'm a mixture of both, so by reading the Word and also by singing praises to him.

  • Good job. I have never heard this version of the song...only Casting Crowns' version.

  • By the way, I am aware there is a mistake somewhere in the video, but I couldn't fix it. £5 to the first one to find it LOL LOL

  • @YoungCalvinist08 Well being British, Stuart Townend would have written "counsellor" not "counselor" but I doubt that's what you meant :P
