I have had iphone for over an year. When it was launched there was no other phone in the market that could challenge it but things have changed. Palm Pre is what I am betting on. Its webOS is really good. Agreed Iphone redefined user experience Palm Pre just blew it through the roof!

Thats true "most people" want a phone that works great out of the box, but you don't need any technical information to tweak, just run a program. Plus isn't jailbreaking a tweak for the iPhone that's very popular? You can always make your handheld device better and its not hard to do so. ok, this phone sucks. Nothing can really live up to the iPHone. Apple has set an amazing standard (again) and now everyone is trying so hard to live up to it. This really shows how good Apple is. they just released a new iPhone which now can do stuff that other phones can do that the iPhone was not able to do. the iPhone is more expensive for a reason. (they also lowered prices) at WWDC
Yeah, the Palm Pre seems the best choice for the iPhone killer, but it still has a long way to go. With the App store, there are like 50,000 apps. The Palm only has like a few. Not so good. If it is going to be a real iPhone killer, it needs a good App store.
It does have along way to go (in the sense that every OS does), but just in terms of OS (not hardware aesthetic) I think it's already surpassed anything else out there I've seen (including iphone).
And although I have no idea whether it will ever have as many apps as Apple, I do think it's only fair to keep in mind that the Pre was just released a few days ago and a year after the iPhone was released it only had 500 apps.
I saw the Wired Podcast on the Pre, and they are right, it NEEDS a good, strong app store. I know that when the iPhone came out a year later that it had like no apps. It dosen't matter any more. App stores are really up to date now with like a billion different things to buy. People will not get the pre if there is no good app store. Consumers will stay with the iPhone other wise. For the Apps
I think you're absolutely right about it needing a strong app catalogue/store, but I also think people (especially iphone fanboys) are sometimes too quick to jump on the pre about it's lack of apps when it hasn't even been out a whole week yet.
I went to a Sprint store today. To try it out. The keypad sucks soooooooo much. I have small fingers and I couln't really type. A lot of stuff needs to be fixed for this phone to really take off. I know it hasn't been out a week yet, but remember, App stores are now older technology. They have already been astablished.

The Palm Pre is not only a great phone but it will be compatable with old Palm software as well. So right from the start it will have tens of thousands of aps.
The voyager has been out for a while, and has been tanking hard ever since. The only real iPhone "killer" is the Palm Pre, and even Apple knows this. I will be the first to admit that I would have never guessed in a million years that Palm of all companies would be the ones to do it. Hope the pre is a huge success for them. It will push Apple to become even more innovative then they already are.

I have had iphone for over an year. When it was launched there was no other phone in the market that could challenge it but things have changed. Palm Pre is what I am betting on. Its webOS is really good. Agreed Iphone redefined user experience Palm Pre just blew it through the roof!

Thats true "most people" want a phone that works great out of the box, but you don't need any technical information to tweak, just run a program. Plus isn't jailbreaking a tweak for the iPhone that's very popular? You can always make your handheld device better and its not hard to do so. If your theory about the market is correct then why does PC corner it? After all Mac's are so easy to use! Don't forget the power of marketing. But in the end it's purely taste.

ok, this phone sucks. Nothing can really live up to the iPHone. Apple has set an amazing standard (again) and now everyone is trying so hard to live up to it. This really shows how good Apple is. they just released a new iPhone which now can do stuff that other phones can do that the iPhone was not able to do. the iPhone is more expensive for a reason. (they also lowered prices) at WWDC

Yeah, the Palm Pre seems the best choice for the iPhone killer, but it still has a long way to go. With the App store, there are like 50,000 apps. The Palm only has like a few. Not so good. If it is going to be a real iPhone killer, it needs a good App store.

It does have along way to go (in the sense that every OS does), but just in terms of OS (not hardware aesthetic) I think it's already surpassed anything else out there I've seen (including iphone).
And although I have no idea whether it will ever have as many apps as Apple, I do think it's only fair to keep in mind that the Pre was just released a few days ago and a year after the iPhone was released it only had 500 apps.

I saw the Wired Podcast on the Pre, and they are right, it NEEDS a good, strong app store. I know that when the iPhone came out a year later that it had like no apps. It dosen't matter any more. App stores are really up to date now with like a billion different things to buy. People will not get the pre if there is no good app store. Consumers will stay with the iPhone other wise. For the Apps

I went to a Sprint store today. To try it out. The keypad sucks soooooooo much. I have small fingers and I couln't really type. A lot of stuff needs to be fixed for this phone to really take off. I know it hasn't been out a week yet, but remember, App stores are now older technology. They have already been astablished.

The voyager has been out for a while, and has been tanking hard ever since. The only real iPhone "killer" is the Palm Pre, and even Apple knows this. I will be the first to admit that I would have never guessed in a million years that Palm of all companies would be the ones to do it. Hope the pre is a huge success for them. It will push Apple to become even more innovative then they already are.
