I don't think the film is about Facebook or even Nev. For me it's about Angela. And about how we all resemble her, by hiding behind pictures on Facebook, trying to make our lives (at least look) happier. We are humans, real people with real personality, and real problems. NO ONE is just a bunch of pretty pictures. And those who can fall in love with some empty photos are either immature, or helplessly shallow!

Must-see! Engaging and fast-paced. Disturbing. It's a documentary, it's not a scripted film, so one should NOT expect anything how it should end. How can anybody possibly predict a real-life ending? Not even the filmmakers. Sure, they can manipulate how it goes. But they allowed things to unfold and they went with the flow. And showed their story to us.

Chris Bumbray, really? An emotional rollercoaster ride I won't shake for days? I already forgot it 2 minutes after the movie was over.

Big disappointment, this film. Not suspenseful, not interesting, amateurish all-around except for the trailer which is pretty much just putting lipstick on a pig. Acting wasn't all that bad but Nev's turdeating grin makes him heavily unlikeable. Do not recommend.

Whoever made this trailer sucks. They're trying to make it seem like a Blair Witch style horror movie and it's about the farthest thing from it. It's not a horror movie, there are no ghosts, or serial killers. It's a movie about online relationships. There is controversy as to whether or not this is a faked or at least partially faked documentary. I think it is at least partially faked.

I watched the movie before watching the trailer, and most of the comments here are correct - the 'freaky' part of this trailer is mainly taken from one part of this 'documentary' (which I also wonder about). Catfish has officially been presented as a documentary thriller, implying the story is true. But when you watch it with a critical eye, you quickly realise that it's all made up. The dialogues seem to flow so perfectly well that they must have been scripted. I saw a bit of this guy Nev being interviewed on ABC's 20-20 in which he was struggling to correctly put two comprehensible sentences together but contrast that with how gullible he was in the film. Nice try but not everyone can be duped!!
