It's obvious the cam (even if little) can't be on eye level, otherwise how could someone drive? XD

This cam is situated just above the visor and i think it's the only and best way to simulate the same visual of a driver. ;)

I've seen some other helmet cams, but I'm surprised that the view is so high.

Most games (including the more realistic sims) seem to get the the view completely wrong then, but then again real life is not 2D LCD screen...

@Kriz - it IS a Formula 1 car, and not a Lotus T125. It is the car Toyota built for the season in which they decided not to "stay in F1" - it was sold to Pirelli and used for tire development. Cheers.

@pastymule They really don't see much at all through those mirrors. They really are there for the driver to get an idea as to where someone is compared to themselves, but they aren't like normal car mirrors that are designed for visibility. Most aerodynamic designers would do away with them all together if they could.

The team in The pits would be monitoring the tyre wear, and the driver would be able to feel how much grip they would have lost due to tyre wear.. at the speed they drive at, they would never be able to get a good look at the tyres anyway.

@geiuy Good point! Camera technology is so advanced, there are high def cameras the size of a walnut. It could be built into the helmet just above eye level. Otherwise they should all drive with one eye, it might spice things up a bit!
